  • Awesome matches like this are reason why those two are true legends of pro wrestling.

  • They should have had Savage write the highs and lows.

  • A Great match, the finish was bad but it's so much better than any Cena's matches you'll ever see

  • Overrated

  • Not a good finish...

  • Great matchup and great rivalry

  • Flair jabroni sucker as usual...

  • Ahh,it's Saturday ,and watching WCW Saturday Night, wish it was still on!

  • This great match went on for 35 mins plus. I'd like to see Jerico, Orton, or any of the so called " superstars " of WWE do this. Sting and Jeff Jarret are the last great talents of this era still going strong.

  • @4lifeReagan keep trolling, trolling, trolling...

  • @micholly Its not trolling with its true.

  • Love how no one here seems to remember Cena and HBK went an hour on raw only a few years back.

  • @Fierce5 Of course. The common member of the IWC isn't allowed to comment positively about the current or recent wrestling product.

  • goood match

  • 30+ minutes I believe the length of this match, great wrestling, entertaining commentating back then...but sudden finish, either thats a botch or blatant low blow.

How I wish I can watch this kind of quality match again in todays wwe.

  • WHAT A MATCH!

  • Idiots trying to say this match was great because they are scared to go against the internet masses. The pace in this match died compared to they're early matches, and the finish was as big a botch job as you'll see.

  • Great Match but ...

Bad finish = No Wonder It Didnt Make It On FLAIR DVD

  • @darule514 I believe their Spring Stampede match had a screwy ending aswell but it was added on the dvd. Both matches they had in 94 were classics.

  • why are wcw crowds always died

  • This is a real classic. Both Flair and Steamboat ran it almost to the tv time limit. The interchanging offense was great, but the fans surprisingly weren't that into it. The only problem I find with this match is the announcing by Schiavone and Heenan. They really underplay the action aside from the mild fan reaction. If Jim Ross was calling this match it would've been one for the books for sure.

  • @zombiechris depends on what you like I guess, JR went way over the top sometimes with his "excitement" to the point of making matches comical. Always loved Tony Shiavone. The other guys were alright until Mike Tenay. I don't like him, just my opinion on Tenay though.

  • This match was everything good about pro wrestling. I know Flair was the 'villain' at the time, but frankly I don't know how you could boo that ending. Both men deserved a standing ovation for all they put into it. Truly that was a masterpiece for them both.

  • This match is exactly the same as their 1989 match in NWA.

  • this was a great match, as was the classic they had at Spring Stampede '94 a few weeks before this match....Flair/Steamboat is the measuring stick for what a wrestling match of the highest quality is....a shame Steamboat's career ended prematurely later in '94 otherwise they would've continued to have classic matches

  • "...like a tailpipe on a bus." lol.

    Great match...

  • It's great how these guys could casually have a match better than any match people like Cena will ever have

  • @SouthyA is on point. McMahon is getting away with murder. All talk and two minutes of wrestling.

  • Flair took a lesson from the Barry Windham-Dustin Rhodes vs. Steamboat-Shane Douglas tag title match about 6 months before this. Don't feel ashamed to win by accidental low blow. lol

  • if u like WCW watch tna cuz wcw superstars most of them in tna

  • Notice how schiavone says at the end of the match "For the 12th time". The title had been held up, there was no champ, and Flair regained it here. But in typical WCW fashion, they went back to calling him an 11 time champ a few weeks later.

  • @MrNWA4Life That's because they could never remember what they hell they were doing. Before Starcade 1990, they had Tom Zenk on a 35 match winning streak. He lost to Eaton. A few weeks later, his streak was at 46.

  • best workers ever

  • you dont see match like this anymore.

  • In Flair's book he even mentioned that his matches with Steamboat were in fact even better than the ones that went down in 89' and the one here. I wonder if there is footage of that time period.

  • Now this was a classic wrestling match. and not a predictable one like HHH or Cena.

  • @360whiplash I understand the Cena bashing. The guy is overrated and annoying. When watching old matches in particular, there seems to be a good bit of HHH bashing too. Which I really don't get. The guy is a great athlete, a consummate company man, was part of some really great matches, at least according to critics. Can you explain to me what the issues is that you and others have with HHH?

  • that was a great match, Flair and Steamboat never disappoint

  • I miss wcw.

  • WWE couldn't even dream of showing a match of this calibre on Raw or Smackdown nowadays. This is worthy of a pay-per-view!

  • I agree and I beg to differ at the same time. WWE actually could put on a match like this, and that is my problem with them right now. They can do much more than they are doing, from creating new stars, better quality shows, etc. but they've gotten way too complacent. That's why ppl like you and I put them on blast over the internet....

  • and why their ratings are the lowest they have been since the mid 90's, they have no competition and have become complacent, they do not wrestle on tv anymore, they just talk

  • TNA is no better though. I remember watching a TNA event recently where it took them 10 mins, 15 mins if youu include the break to start introducing the first match. Let a

This is why i prefer to watch matches like this on the internet.

  • Well they see it as they have no reason to improve the product, people will watch it regardless and since there's no competition they don't have to do edgy things to keep viewers interested. On Smackdown they have new young stars but RAW is a mess, problem is they call up kids too early before they've developed their skills to where they can be top players. Also creative is horrible, we had better storylines in the 80's let alone 90's

  • 10/10

  • Wow, what a match that was. I wish Steamboat was still wrestling, he's awesome. I remember him wearing a Karate uniform with a headband when he comes down the ring. He looks like Ryu from Street Fighter.

  • Flair vs. Steamboat...at least 3 of their encounters have to be in the top 10 matches of all time

  • Oh I so agree The Matches they had in 89, hands down were the abnsolute measuring stick and how to have a great match

  • I think the finish was supposed to be quicker but one of them might have had a miscue. It would have been great if Flair hit him in the gut, then got the win with a quick rollup but too much time made it a bad finish to an otherwise great match.

  • That, or Flair could've put him in the figure four after the botch.

  • everything good in wcw before hogan and his cronies took over and ruined with his childlish politics.

  • Great Posting. Been looking for this match for a long time!

  • It was May of 1994 cause Flair beat Sting to win the WCW International title and then got screwed by Hogan and Bischoff in July.

  • when was this?

  • april 24 1994

  • it was taped then.... aired May 14

  • what?did steamboat get hurt?

  • What a shitty finish. You don't put those two in the ring and have a match end so lame.

  • a last minute small package or flair pinning him using his feet on the rope would have done justice
