WoW!!! That's one very BEAUTIFUL walkman... although I think the belt needs changing since the song is a little slow... but otherwise a SUPERB example of japanese engineering!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!
I also have got a Toshiba KT-S1, which I inherited from my father.
It's fully working well yet, actually it was reparied at a phone jack 1 due to being broken. Mein Vater bought KT-S1 in Saudi Arabia when he went to a business trip in 1981. I was born in 1983 and live in South Korea. :)
What a lovley piece of kit, so much more dynamic and cool looking than the bland cheap silver looking "cyber" crap designs now.I love the way the radio slips in too. I picked up a KT-S1 at a boot sale last month for £1, and it works!! still has the blue FM radio pack, also working, and its in the original silver vinyl carry case, just had to have it and for just a quid, had to be a bargain i reckon.

I have some tapes from the 80's recorded off the radio, mostly Top 40 hits and Top 100 charts and they still sound great. I always thought cassettes themselves would degrade over time, but my Sony HF and Memorex tapes sound amazing. I like the pretty coloured Memorex best to be honest though! Nice video :)
My God Mother's ex-husband had a Toshiba personal stereo like this one, it had a radio tuner cartridge thing like this one, you inserted the cartridge in the tape well, and there were cut outs in the door for the tuning dial. The Toshiba unit didn't record like yours but it had Auto Reverse, and the rewind and fast forward buttons were mounted on the door. He also had an external battery pack that held 2 D size batteries, and it connected to the AC Adaptor jack. How common are units like this
I don't know the model number, I last used the thing about 12 or 13 years ago, if you make a video of your unit, i may be able to tell you if it's the same one or not. Do you plan to make more videos soon?
That's a really interesting little walkman!!! Very nice any small thing, and the radio cassette is also a really good idea. I've seen a Fisher Walkman before that uses a radio cassette too.
wow cooooool!

It is playing a bit slow, hmm. I bet recording using the machine itself would play at normal speed! :)
JoshSwannack 2 years ago
Could be!, but also the cassette deck was not very well when I made the recording in 85 or 86 :o
The tape is also more as 20 years old!
