  • i have two frogs, male and female, i can tell cuz the fat one laid eggs all over her old tank.

and they both sound like this when they sang. but the fat one sounded higher pitched! :D

  • Check out my goliath frog video follow & subscribe

  • hey mean do that my mom said the can not make nosie under water and donot make nosie

  • at night i hear my dwarf frogs doing that, it so funny!

  • i have two dwarf frogs in with my betta and they are fine my betta is more worried about playing in the waterfall

  • LA LA LAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • so since my albino never did this im curious whats it mean?

  • @Nexus5001 Most likely, yours was a female

  • @AshesxAndxWine dont the females have the bumps under the front arms?

  • @Nexus5001 Albinos do not exist in the African Dwarf Frog species. It was most likely an African Clawed Frog, a close cousin of this frog. The store may have mislabeled it, which happens often.

  • @bonnyrabidvideos im sorry that actually is what it was. i mislabeled my comment that was my fault. but do they do this as well?

  • @Nexus5001 I'm actually not sure. That would be something to google. If I find anything, I'll let you know.

  • @Nexus5001 I'm actually not sure. That would be something to google. If I find anything, I'll let you know.

  • @bonnyrabidvideos thanks

  • @Nexus5001 I recently read that it's impossible for the African Dwarf frog to be albino, though the African Clawed frog can and is very often mistaken and sold in pet stores as the African Dwarf. I guess the main difference in the two is the Clawed frogs back feet are webbed but it's hands are not. The Dwarf however has both it's hands and feet webbed.

  • I'm not sure about mixing these frogs with Betta as I've never done this before but I have had both of my frogs with shrimp before and all was fine.

  • @AshesxAndxWine yu can mix them wit bettas they do great together i have two ADF and a betta together

  • @AshesxAndxWine you can mix them with a Betta i have done it before

  • Hey could I keep any in my five gallon with my Betta? If so how many? Also do you think I should have frogs or fish with my Betta? Do these frogs go with shrimp as well? Thank you!:)

  • Mine was just chirping. I hope they don't mate because I don't have another tank.

  • Umm I can tell one of my frogs Frisch but I'm not sure about the other and I don't know what sex the other one is is there anyway to tell a male from female!

  • @aluver1188 Males tend to have "pimple" like bump near the "armpit" area of the frog. :)

  • nice !

  • Its actually a mating call. When I was younger and I had my ADFs that noise kept me awake all night. I tried to turn on music to block it out. Yeah that didn't work. The next morning is when i found out that my 2 adfs were a male and a female... they laid eggs 3 times. None of the eggs lived. Then my female died and last week my male died. :(

  • one last question would they do ok in a 4.5 gallon tank?

  • @TorontoMapleL3afs

1 gallon per Frog so yeah! :D

  • I might get one sometime will they eat my betta though?Cause that would give me nightmares if that happened haha,And I would so name him Politoad

  • @TorontoMapleL3afs No, they won't eat your betta :)

  • @AshesxAndxWine Alright, Thank you

  • This is so annoying when your trying to sleep!!

  • @KilljoyLethalLaser its more annoying when you got 4 male clawed frogs wich croak louder

  • So when they sing is it audible without having to "mike" the tank? In other words can you hear them if you are just standing next to the tank? I have four males and have never heard them sing. I wish they would. Often they hug each other... cute as crap! Gay frogs!

  • @sitedezynz The singing can be heard if you are in the same room as the tank, no mic required.

  • DERF!

  • hes looking for a female....see his arm pits the little bumps....the females dont have this and they are bigger more arrow shaped.....i had a mating pair and raised tads into froglets....if you get a girl...keep them seperate for a while to make sure she's not sick and see what you can do......cheers

  • Is that white block a plaster of paris block for GH?

  • @captmicha just a regular rock from petsmart.

  • I wish I could keep some alive... :( I tested my water and followed advice but still couldn't get them to stay alive.

  • mmm african frogs soo hot wer u get this footage gona cum watching this

  • @frogman249 lol

  • @frogman249 O.O wtf lol. You a female African dwarf frog commenting on his singing skills?

  • @SteffersFavourites dont tell me this not turning u on cant believe it on utube lol

  • how do you tell if it is a boy or a girl

  • @iloveanimals101jen Males have big armpit nipples! xD & don't have the curvy figure of a female.

  • lookin for girlfriend!

  • That's its mating call. Mine does it too. His longest was 12 times of that.

  • Mine still mates with my female, but doesn't sing. I guess since there's only 1 female in the tank, not much point trying to attract more that don't exist.

  • why do they sing? is it to attract females?

  • @larn555 Yeah :)

  • Haha, I just got three of these guys, and I hadn't known that they could sing at the time! Hope they start sometime soon.

  • I hadmine for 4 hours and they started singing :)

  • frog sounds. always a relaxing :)

the most relaxing frog sounds in the world to me are the coqui (most likely spelled it wrong lol) in puerto rico.

  • @stormbreaker91746 Oh yeah. I just got back from Puerto Rico. The Coqui is amazing. It can throw it's voice to confuse any predators. I looked everywhere to try and find one but they are clever. There are bazilliions of them in PR and now in Hawaii. Hawaii is over run with them because there are no natural predators there to eat them.

  • how do you tell if your frog is female or male?

  • Either your frog is looking a little thin or I'm spoiling mine a little too much.

How old is he? So cute!

  • YYYYYYYYYYYYEAH, my little baby is singing tonite for the first time, i'm gonna record it right now!

  • It's amazing how he sounds like a tiny electric motor. At first I thought it was the auto focus on your camera, but when you moved around and it only sounded near the one you were focused on, I realized it WAS the frog.

  • @rabidvoodoocat your pH needs to be higher than that. More like 7.2-7.5 ADF's like it a bit high. So if your keeping other fish with an ADF, make sure they can survive with the higher pH levels. Hope I've helped :)

  • so thats what that noise is when it rains

  • I love it, I have 3 males, 4 females (breeding bunch). I have never heard any of my males so this is cool. Anyhow I love the setup and he seems so happy. Although I dont think that he really liked you filming him lol. He must be a little camera shy!

  • changed temp higher and lower, and still no singing. had the males for many months now. what should i change? salinity, ph, so on? right now my ph is a bit lower then 7.0, in between neutral and acidic.

  • @rabidvoodoocat

OMG trust me you dont want the sound!! ahhh BZZZ BZZ BZZZ STFU FROGIE!

  • changed temp higher and lower, and still no singing. had the males for many months now. what should i change? salinity, ph, so on? right now my ph is a bit lower then 7.0, in between neutral and acidic.

  • haha so that's the noise I heard coming out of my tank the other day. I wonder why my frog was so excited, there weren't any girl frogs around.

  • @AshesxAndxWine

May i ask what type of filter you are using? like a sponge? brand? stuff like that thanks. Oh and how big is that tank? :)

  • thats the sounds mine make to each other and i have had them for 4 months and i barely hear them right now. it was amazing

  • i just bought 3 of them today! theyre so cool

  • aww, i have 2 males and 3 females for a couple months now and they haven't sung at all! does it have to do with temperature or lighting to mimic breeding season?

  • @rabidvoodoocat I noticed the warmer the water, the more my frogs would mate and the more the male would sing.

  • @AshesxAndxWine but water too warm can cause blood clots in the eyes... just saying that because most people that own ADFs do not know that. also- did you know bamboo isnt an aquatic plant? it will rot if its roots are in the water.

  • @Dontelai I'm not saying to use really warm water...and I've had my bamboo plant in the tank for over a year and no rotting?

  • @AshesxAndxWine Yah. Just saying... warm water is very general. You should have wrote temp. Like I said, what some people consider warm is pretty colds to ADFs or otherwise. Also- your just pretty bamboo lucky! Glad to hear it isnt rotting :3 just warning you.

  • @Dontelai Sh! Don't tell my bamboo plants that! They've been living in my tanks for a very long time because they didn't know that.

  • @AshesxAndxWine how warm is the water sapost to be?? for them to sing and breed?

  • @AshesxAndxWine weird!when in africa when it cools down and rains thats when they mate!intresting...

  • @rabidvoodoocat I just got my first ADF that I have had in years, and I'd like to create a good environment as possible for it. If you could answer a few questions for me, that would be wonderful. 1. What temp do you keep your tank at? Mine is around 74F. 2. I have had this frog 2 days and all he has done is hidden in a rock cave and not left. I was told he will eat the fallen food on the floor, what do you feed yours? Lastly, should I put some plants or more camoflouge in there? Thanks.

  • @5stringofFernandoSor Well, haha my frog ate a live fish the other day when I introduced some feeders to the tank, I also feed him sinking fish food balls, and they say that they don't eat regular fish flakes but mine does. maybe my frog is just a fatty.

  • Hi i cant tell if my african dwarf frog is male or female is there any other way of fniding out without looking at the legs? Also is the larger Frog the female or the smaller one?

  • @hypnoticter the larger one is the female and the male should have white patches in his armpits.

  • amazing how we can hear it O:

  • Oh forgot to mention one of my frogs has a little tail...that would be a for sure female??

  • I just got two frogs yesterday after doing lots of research and this video really helps on how to tell a male from the female. Still not quite sure what mine are since they are hiding from me lol. Hope they like me soon and hope I get a singing boy!

  • i had an african dwarf frog named Bella also! she passed away this morning though

  • Mine do that all night, sometimes I think I'm going nuts, but I grew accustomed to it, ily zippo and Harry

  • how do you know theyre a boy and a girl did they lay eggs already?

  • @jake247Y Male frogs have small pimple like bumps under their front legs. You can see them on my male frog. The males also can only sing. Females don't. My frogs have laid eggs 4 times now.

  • @AshesxAndxWine what happens to the eggs, did they die or do the frogs eat them?

  • @jake247Y yeah and also, males have white patches in their arm pits and females are slightly bigger.

  • Thank you for posting this! My frog has been "singing" quite a bit lately...I wasn't sure what the noise was ;0

  • Hehe they're interesting little critters. I was given two for my birthday but now I'm sort of in a pickle. They're mating and I have tadpoles all over the place! I have no idea what to do.... ughh. Any suggestions?

  • @EmIsLegend Well, when mine would mate and she would release her eggs, I would scoop out all the eggs to try and raise them. Only get them to very tiny tadpole stage. If you don't wish to raise any tadpoles, just leave the eggs in the tank and the frogs will eat them.

  • Sounds like mine...they four of mine sing at once. They are so cute. And so are yours.

  • @chaosgalian Thanks!

  • @AshesxAndxWine

    Yer welcome.

  • I just got 2 of these guys 4 days ago, i thought they were babies. The bigger one has been singing all day so i guess i was wrong. Every time i go up to the tank he swims over to me and chirps. The other one is small, but i think its a girl because it is lighter in color.

  • @Reneezombii The males have these small pimple like things behind their front legs.

  • I just heard one of mine do this for the first time last night, so adorable.

  • Does your frog make that noise everyday? And how loud do they get? I might be getting some and I was just wondering.

  • @AshesxAndxWine did you name your frogs by the Twiligh series?

  • I just got two new African Dwarf frogs, still trying to figure out whether they're male or female - I guess I'll know if I hear this sound. :) But I think they might be females, since their 'tails' look big and I don't recall seeing any glands behind the front legs. But they are pretty thin, so maybe they're male after all...

  • mine do that and hump another... but they're all males... i must bring chicks into their cycle and tame them~ :D so far no luck... none! what's wrong with the females in their dominion? damned petshops!

  • watch out for those big rocks at the bottom or your tank, i've heard of many a frog getting a foot or whatnot caught in there, not being able to get oxygen. you also might want to be careful with that light, as adf's are nocturnal. your filter seems kind of loud as well.

  • SIGING HIS LITTLE HEART OUT :D

  • Sounds just like mine. He won't shut up!! :)

It's really cute, though, so I forgive him.

  • what size tank do you have for them?

  • one of mine makes that sound! just started to and now won't stop! he's skinnier than the other and the other doesn't have a noticeable male gland, white "pimple". do you think its a girl? the singing one tried to grab onto the other to mate but let go..still singing.

  • so kool

  • my frogs make that sound all night long

  • cute!!!!!!

  • she's not fat. i have one named gizmo who is a hell of alot fatter.

  • so cute!

  • wat size tank is that?

  • Thats great. :-)
