@Wutsakumquat A lot of the older games, and even games today only coded the hits to a certain point and what you see on screen is actually extended beyond what will kill. So the fire only counts when the center of the last ball hits, because the outside of it is just an image

This entire speed run is completely legit.

It's possible to go through the edges of the flowers, fire in the water, and even Bowser's axes. LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE DONE IT! Timing / distance is tight though.

Running over the holes / gaps is trivial.

These speed runs take full advantage of this game's poor collision detection.

Anyone doubting this speed run needs to go re-learn Mario physics lol.

Of course it is TAS. That's the point of TAS speedrun's is to be as cheap as possible and use all tools to help them achieve the fastest complete game finish. Tools allows them to do things that normal humans can't.

If you don't like TAS than you can check out non-TAS speedrun's of this game too. There's even a video on YouTube where Andrew Gardikas did it live (non-TAS). The fastest record for non-TAS is quite close to the TAS record.
