If the plane was a U.S. Navy C-47, this could be Majuro in 1950 and our family was landing from Kwajalein. Majuro Atoll was an unspoiled jewel in those years with a total population of not more than 1,000 people and the center of an incredible adventure for a 10 year old boy. I realized in later years how fortunate I was to have shared that time with a special people. I sometimes wonder about who might remain from my boyhood Marshallese friends and what memories we might share. Iokwe yuk!
