Jesus was a reformer. He saw a problem in society and fought hard to change it. Those who believed in his views of the world created a religion. Sort of like how our finding fathers created our "American way of life." Tell me the difference between the two. Social reform people. He would tell you not to blindly follow anything but to live your life.

Of course not. You evaluate the contemporaneous sources written shortly after Jesus' earthly ministry. Jesus is never recorded as having a beard. Actually, we know next to nothing about Jesus' physicality other than his Jewish heritage and Galilean upbringing. The other passages you referenced don't pertain to this debate.
Lastly, anyone with cognizance can read Acts 3:13 and ascertain that Jesus is not the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, but is His servant.

When I posted here before, I also mentioned that Jesus was laid in the tomb, the burial cloth (strips of linen) and added a mixture of myrrh & aloes (75lbs) to the cloth. John 19:38-40 This mixture hardened, just as a cast would on a broken bone. When Jesus arose, the shape of this cloth was in the form of a cocoon, with just an opening for His face.

@ultimatemaijn The carbon tests were taken on the corners of the cloth which was the worst place to take samples becuase the coners and edges had teh most handling over time which would alter the results. When Jesus was resurrected, what was left after it dried was cocoon shape that had only a face opening that was covered by a piece of cloth. No rips, no tears, no other openings. They didn't have the time to prepare Jesus' body properly because the sabbath started in the evening the day before.

He had a humble beginning and a humble end.

Since they didn't prepare his burial properly they were returning to prepare the body after the Sabbath. So it is possible that this is the burial cloth that Jesus was laid on.

I just subbed, but I don't believe the shroud is the burial cloth of Jesus, it doesn't match the description of Jesus when he was hung on the cross as given in scripture.
I'm convinced the shroud image was formed by the body of the historical Jesus. Strange as it may seem to contemporary secular humanists, (which used to include me) the image is inexplicable. If you follow the facts and keep an open mind the most logical conclusion is authenticity. The implications are enormous. I now pray daily. I'm doing my best to live according to Christian teaching. THIS FACT! The Catholic Church has always tried to keep the European as dumb possible. John 20:5-7 says that Jesus was wrapped with linen strips, and a separate cloth around Jesus' head. Yet the shroud includes both the body and the head. Also, the hands of the body masked the genitals. This can't be right. No matter how you arrange a body after rigor mortis, the hands cannot cover the genitals unless you prop up the elbows on the body and bind the hands tightly in place. Yet this is not what the shroud's image shows.
What happens when you die? Have you told lies, stolen, used God's name in vain? If yes, then you're a liar, thief, and a blasphemer in the sight of God. Why is the back body bigger than the front. Why are the arms impossily long. Lay down & try to put your hands & arms in EXACTLYthe same position. Why does blood show no signs of smearing due to handling, wrapping, unwrapping washing/cleaning. Why so tall @ C. 5'11" a giant. I am not going to dispute that this shroud has been to Palestine. However, even IF it is true that it was there, that does not prove that it was used to wrap "Jesus." It could have been anyone from that time period. Even IF that is true, it still doesn't prove that it was the son of some god. There could be a historical Jesus, one that inspired the tales of the Christian Messiah, but I am still comfortable in my lack of a belief in any deity, even with this shroud.

When I posted here before, I also mentioned that Jesus was laid in the tomb, the burial cloth (strips of linen) and added a mixture of myrrh & aloes (75lbs) to the cloth. John 19:38-40 This mixture hardened, just as a cast would on a broken bone. When Jesus arose, the shape of this cloth was in the form of a cocoon, with just an opening for His face.

When Jesus was resurrected, what was left after it dried was cocoon shape that had only a face opening that was covered by a piece of cloth. No rips, no tears, no other openings. The tomb held NO strips of cloth.

@EdM021 There was NO shroud. When the Jews had a death/burial, they woud wrap the body in strips of cloth that were soaked in oils and other components. They were wrapped like mummies. The cloth strips would dry & turn hard, like a cast on a broken leg. When everyone looked into the tomb, they did NOT see strip of dry cloth laying around, like in the movies & pictures. The cocoon like encasement of Christ was NOT torn, cut or broken in any way. The only opening was for His Face. He AROSE

Mark 16:1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body. They didn't have the time to prepare Jesus' body properly because the sabbath started in the evening the day before.

Luke 23:56 Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment. Luke 24:1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They went back to finish anointing/embalming the body of Jesus.

The others elaborated more on the funeral to make him fit in. But the fact is Jesus never did fit into Jewish customs. He did not act like other jews of that time. He had a humble beginning and a humble end.

Since they didn't prepare his burial properly they were returning to prepare the body after the Sabbath. So it is possible that this is the burial cloth that Jesus was laid on.

I'm convinced the shroud image was formed by the body of the historical Jesus. Strange as it may seem to contemporary secular humanists, (which used to include me) the image is inexplicable. If you follow the facts and keep an open mind the most logical conclusion is authenticity. The implications are enormous. I now pray daily. I'm doing my best to live according to Christian teaching. The world would be a far better place if we all tried to.

John 20:5-7 says that Jesus was wrapped with linen strips, and a separate cloth around Jesus' head. Yet the shroud includes both the body and the head. Also, the hands of the body masked the genitals. This can't be right. No matter how you arrange a body after rigor mortis, the hands cannot cover the genitals unless you prop up the elbows on the body and bind the hands tightly in place. Yet this is not what the shroud's image shows.

Why is the back body bigger than the front. Why are the arms impossily long. Lay down & try to put your hands & arms in EXACTLYthe same position. Why does blood show no signs of smearing due to handling, wrapping, unwrapping washing/cleaning. Why so tall @ C. 5'11" a giant. The Bible didn't say He was a giant; unless He was painted so to be easier to see by the viewers. Possibly painted w/blood (for realism)on gesso which with & handling this is all that remains. I am not going to dispute that this shroud has been to Palestine. However, even IF it is true that it was there, that does not prove that it was used to wrap "Jesus." It could have been anyone from that time period. Even IF that is true, it still doesn't prove that it was the son of some god. There could be a historical Jesus, one that inspired the tales of the Christian Messiah, but I am still comfortable in my lack of a belief in any deity, even with this shroud.

Perhaps, but remember, the Shroud depicts someone with the EXACT wounds described in the Gospels. The punctures on the head are particularly telling.
And if you believe that it was the historical Jesus' shroud, just remember, dead bodies doen't go around routinely leaving photo-negative/3D images of themselves on their burial wrappings.
Moreover, for the shroud to exist at all, it HAD to have been separated from the body no later than about 4 days.

IF its a fake, then it would have had to be placed on a body that had been severely brutalized to make the blood patterns seen on it. Also, the blood shows high bilirubin content. This could only be produced by either someone with severe chronic liver disease or from a person that had been severely beaten. How would an artist back in the 14th century know about modern blood chemistry to make sure that the blood was consistent with someone who underwent severe trauma?

Then open The Present (with religion) and read what it says. Show it to everyone you know. If it reaches enough people, we will individually and collectively awaken to the truth and the life, which is what Jesus says he is.
