You dress the wound around the foreign object and get them to a hospital where a SURGEON who went to medical school and such removes it professionally. If you just ripped it out willy nilly you would cause mass bleeding, far more pain and in some cases rupture organs. "putting pressure" does not stem bleeding for the long term, it's alright for the short term but in this case the dude would loose too much blood and pass out.

Infection is easier to treat than mass blood loss and further damage of the object being ripped out. He would bleed to death as they are way off shore so by the time they got him to the beach then to the hospital etc. But you know, i guess it's up to whoever is in the situation. Pull it out if you feel you must i suppose.

i love this movie not only does it have pretty realistic sharks but it shows other dangers lol but still jaws and deep blue sea is pretty much the best this one was pretty good considering the low budget :)
