  • thanks alot poo my best friend grandfather is dead because of you

  • why did his arm come off in the water?

  • When I fist watched this episode 20 years ago, my mother was really impressed that Jerry gave his life when those boys were not even his sons.

  • Well at least he saved Poo.

  • This was the hardest loss of my 20 plus years of service.

  • @coachpete35 You knew Jerry?

  • @TEACHERTIGERSHAH I did not know the man well, but I met him on several occassions. Knowing who he was made the rescue harder on us.

  • DAMN! I hate the episodes where someone dies. :-( :-(

  • If he was "pronoucned dead on arrival at the hospital" those basically mean that they were trying to resuscitate him all the way throughout the ambulance ride?

  • @robfuturemd We worked this code for 105 minutes. IT was the longest and hardest code of my career. He was a friend and a true hero.

  • at 4 27 is that deer real

  • i would hate to be the kid that hew saved. it would feel like my fault that he died. i feel sorry for that kid.

  • This episode is so sad & it gets me real upset. RIP Jerry Anderson. Why does someone so good have to die. Jerry Anderson is a real true hero.

  • p.i.p jerry anderson.

    you are a hero !!!

  • what jerry anderson did was a selfless act of courage and bravery i tip my hat to him

  • in my life i have heard of all different kinds of hero's but now that i have heard of jerry anderson and what he did for this little boy giving his own life to save the life of another human being i can honestly say that jerry anderson is a real true hero.

    RIP JERRY ANDERSON

  • aww its kinda sad! :'(

  • @sourapples808 kinda?

  • @doomslayer133 opps i mean REALLY sad, but really its soo sad!:'(

  • people like that deserve to be known forever and never forgotten ever hes a legend and a hero but he was also a everyday man who didnt think twice about going into save those kids he didnt care for himself

  • @firefightertobe

people like jerry will always be known and remembered by their family

their friends and especialy by the people that they saved.as i watch this clip

im reminded of a saying that i heard when i was a little girl that goes like this

there's hero's and there's legends hero's get remembered but legends never die

jerry anderson is both a hero and a legend.

  • how did he die? rip jerry

  • @BigThunderFan wow u have to be stupid whats he in? WATER. He drowned.

  • @jlrsmiles hes a man and somebody would have seen him and shut up thats a logical question

  • @BigThunderFan he drowned when he was saving the boy

  • @MyPinky2003 After. They said the river had a strong current and that the boy was even stuck in a whirlpool. If Jerry went into the whirlpool to save the kid, while fighting the current it's very likely that he simply ran out of strength and couldnt get out of the whirlpool not to mention fight the current. The only positive thing, if you can call it that, is that drowning apparently is one of the most peaceful ways to die once you get past the fear and panic.

  • @DoomDodgers a red haze will fill your vision, and you get dizzy and sleepy all at once. it aint that bad.. but your lungs will feel like they're gonna explode until the haze. It's not exactly peaceful

  • @evian1230 That's why i said one of the most peaceful ways and not the most peaceful way. This apparently happened to me in egypt while i was diving. I pulled lungs full of water through a snorkle and panicked. I dont remember anything from that. All i can recall is going into the water and looking at the corals through my goggles and next thing i remember i'm back at the boat. Nothing inbetween.

  • @DoomDodgers well dude, its FUCKING PAINFUL until your a few seconds from death.

  • What a Hero

  • Maybe he passed away because he belonged somewhere better :)

  • Jerry Anderson was awarded a Carnegie Medal for Heroism.

  • at the end of part one it said vote to have this show back on tv...are they really going to let it come back on tv

  • I remember I saw this on TV when I was around 10 years old. I was thunderstruck when they said, "Jerry was pronounced dead at the hospital." I'd already loved the show and, as a child, I thought it was against some kind of fundamental rule for anyone to die on it.

This has to be one of the saddest and most moving stories ever told on the show. A lot of these are "bringing back memories" for me, but this was one where I've always remembered so many words from as if I'd heard them yesterday.

  • That man needs to be honored for his courage. His family needs to know that his community and the family of that little boy appreciated the ultimate sacrifice he made. Jerry is a true hero RIP Jerry

  • Jerry is a hero.

  • Wow thats so sad he died saving a little boy this man is a hero.

  • he deserves all the respect anyone can give!

  • these are sapsoto be fucking happy endings thats the only reason i watch these. GEH

  • i Know thats why i watch it, imagine my horror the hero dies....dude im liek sad right now

  • dude looks just like rampage jackson

  • that's one badass mothefucker

  • he gave his life for another and deserves to be called hero and hes a better man than most

  • Ive never heard 911 ever having an episode where someone didnt survive.

  • Trust me, this isn't the only one.

  • There are a few..This one..."butane huffing" and another is "Runaway boxcar".....RIP Jerry you are a true Hero

  • there are many, mostly in the 1st and 2nd seasons.

  • There are quite a few.

Man, I LOVED this show back in the day.

  • he went out of this world in a very good way! rest in peace and may you have all you have ever wanted!

  • Hats off to Jerry Anderson!

  • and glasses raised!

  • god bless that man

  • Sorry if this may sound harsh or whatever, but in my oppinion, Jerry went out exactly the way he would've wanted to.

  • Wasn't Poo playing football or something at the end of the segment? If so, great way to honor Jerry's memory!

  • The world would be a much better place if we had more Jerry Andersons.

  • Amen!

  • Jerry was a good man i wish more people could be like that.

  • im glad he saved that little boy=) R.I.P Jerri.. :(

  • it doesnt matter if he was once a NFL player he could have joined the military after he got out of NFL but he didnt and yes purple hearts and medal of honor are only given to military personnel but rest in peace Jerry

  • what a man what a hero and what a saint

    marc in nyc

  • Thats so sad. =(

  • jerry.... rest in peace

  • heroic man. rest in peace

  • I think Jerry was so brave My he rest in peace

  • my uncle loved Jerry Anderson, he was so upset when he died.

  • Boy, they're not many NFL players who would do that. RIP Jerry Anderson.

  • he did a very good job

  • I almost cried while watching this story. Jerry, you're a true star. RIP!

  • wow! this is really sad, i really didn't expect him to not make it. but wow is he a hero! incredible what he did for the boy!

  • Someone should lean on their US Senators and Representatives to confer on this man the friggin Congressional Gold Medal and lean on the President to award him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Heck, I'd put a special act in Congress to confer upon this fallen hero the Medal of Honor. Heck with the usual rules. Purple Heart while we're at it.

  • A Medal of Honor and a Purple Heart is given to military personnel only, and only when they've been injured or killed in combat. This guy was a civilian, because he once was an NFL player.

  • I support your oppinion! I think Jerry Anderson should receive every award for herroism that we have! Not very many people would've done what he did! I don't if he's a military or not, he's a true herro! For once, it wasn't about killing a bunch of people, it was about sacrificing one's own life to save the life of another!

  • For once Dorvell, I actually agree with something you say. This man should've gotten every accolade, every honor, every salute to the mind of man. Oh, and to tell with a 21 Gun Salute, I'd have given Jerry a 1000 Gun Salute at his funeral.

  • Well, nice to know we agree on something, LOL!

  • "puerto rico" 98 people died

    "Churchbus" few died, few survived

"Butane huffing" (only one that is reenacted to feature a death)

"Boston" charles and carol stuart and their baby die.

  • Had it been in Russia (or a country similar to it), a victim in every other episode would have been dead for sure! Russia's rescue services are disorganized, understaffed, underequipped, low-paid and you often have to give bribes! Search for "A man falling out from ambulance at Moscow tunnel" to see an example of it. That is very sad, of course, especially for poor people living there, because they often struggle to survive, while the government spends tremendous amount of money for military.

  • wow the Russian burned boy survived in the burning on Rescue 9-1-1- because he went to Dallas for his burns.

  • Is it a Rescue911 episode? If yes, what's the number?

  • YES its #4?? don't know.

  • i think #322

  • Actually, the city that Anton, the boy who got burned, went to for treatment was Galveston but you are right, it was a city in Texas.

  • He wasn't a military veteran, so he can't receive a posthumous Medal of Honor and/or a Purple Heart.

  • dude, do yur research, Medal of Honor are given to military for their heroic deed. Medal of Freedom are given to civilian who did the greatest honor for their country, Jerry Anderson save a kid, that's not going to get you a medal of freedom or honor.

  • It should!

  • who cares about medals, jerry died for a good cause R.I.P jerry amen

  • Goodness, How sad! What a hero though. Its like he knew....he told the kid to call his mom... wow. I hope he is an angel like his wife said....

  • I think this is the first time I've ever seen an episode that didn't have a completely happy ending where everyone survived..... at least that I remember.

  • There are I believe three episodes where people do not survive.

  • What a hero- God definitely has a place for him! I don't think any other sports "hero" would ever do that.

  • That's a serious bummer that Jerry Anderson died, but he sacrificed himself to save the lives of 2 strangers, and that truly counts for something...RIP

  • Thats so sad he died.... he great guy!!

  • This is by far one of the best episodes, and this is the key phrase of this episode:

"Jerry Anderson did not go in that water because he saw my son or some little kid that he knew, in trouble. Jerry Anderson went in that water because he saw a human being in trouble."

  • that sucks that he died

  • Thats so sad he died.

Rescue 911 showed other drowings, but the kid that drowned survived.

  • Thanks BeatleMoe!!

  • He is not a double hero - he is a hero to infinity!

  • and beyond! LOL!

  • That is so sad... what a great guy.
