Try carbon fiberglass epoxy,PVC, and plywood cores; as well as high quality open and closed cell, high density foams of various kinds, that not only take skill to craft, but a good amount of skill to properly use as well. A ton of the people that do this are sports players, and other things you would consider a "nerd". Not to mention these people get more physical activity and social interaction than you do.

@ Uiopytrre, there should be a Chapter somewhere up in there. Google the Dagorhir website to see if there's a chapter in their area. Even if there isn't, see if you can contact the nearest American Chapter, and see if they can help you start your own.
You would be surprised how many people would be willing to make the trip to help out new chapters.
LARPs usually follow a plot. LARPs force their players to keep to their characters at all times LARPs have magic, and usually follow hit-points.
Dag only makes players create character names, and personas fot the characters are optional. Dag has no plot, it is just plain-out fighting. Dag NEVER uses magic, and uses strike-zones instead of hit points. Also, dag uses REAL armour, not plastic LARP armous.
First, no larps do not FORCE anything, and not all larps require magic etc. Larping is anything that includes playing out a character in any way. I also fight dag and yes it is a larp. Dag armour is not realistic in anyway. Dag requires garb standards and you to use medival weapons so it is a larp. dude seriously get over it dag is a larp despite what most dag fighters. Just look at Rome,Guard, Urk Kuldar, Eryndor you and me both are larping as is SCA and Markland.

I saw some of the glaives in this vid, and they are a lot different than the ones my friend and I made. We basically created a blue sword but with a spear like pommel, is this allowed in dag rules?
They consider all long bladed spears glaives. I think it can deal red damage (such as a two handed sword), but im not sure. It can also thrust if you have the right padding.
The Roman Legionarres (sry bout spelling lol) were awsome. I am working on my own Lorica Segmentata armor for Dagorhir myself. And Wildshibby, Blargman, keep those comments to yourselves.

What's funny is that the Romans:
a) Were around 500-1000+ years before the middle ages
b) actually built up infrastructure and maintained an empire while the Spartans bled their land dry as they ignored all domestic affairs to go off and fight, and ended up destroying themselves in the Peloponnesian Wars. The romans showed not only fighting prowess but a command of everything engineering, tactical, governmental, and festive.
Oh, and Dominus & Rome owns.
