I'm singing this song in general music in 7th grade, I picked this song than the other song which was don't stop believing, I'm singing this with one other girl in front of my whole class with no lyrics, I'm nervous, hopefully I'll remember the lyrics.
with a microphone, I should've heard knowN, frienD, nighT, beD, heaD, etc. And some T's are too pointy compared to the softer constanants that should've been enunciated.

Who did she compete against and how talented were they? Which song did they perform? With talent contests there is the element of personal preference and tastes of the judges or audience. An audience of Sting devotees might not appreciate Nessun Dorma sung by Mario Lanza or Placido Domingo, or On My Own by Lea Salonga, choosing a lesser talent.

Gentle, extended warm ups of the voice can make such transitions much easier to achieve, and improve the tone production in registers which feel and sound strange when sung on the spot without warm up.

And she got the word word the end she said 'without me his world will go on changing' but it should have been 'turning' in place of 'changing' or it makes to sense.
I agree with your comments. She emoted well in the begining, but then it seemed she concentrated on belting out the notes and some of the emotion went with it. You don't need to shout to creat an impact. But she definitely has a great voice and could easily have a career in stage performance. Just needs a little fine tunning:-) I was impressed!
nice voice... needs help with sustaining and not straining... also needs to work on breathing/phrasing. Also, messed up the words and it showed. Needs a voice teacher.

Hmmm. This voice--while beautiful--was not made for the quiet and the tranquil song that is Epinone's glance at the world. I'd recommend something from wicked--''No Good Deed Goes Unpunished'' comes to mind. ^^ Even thusly, the judge was too harsh. I think this young lady has a real future.

Kawill, you must be a very proud dad. At 3:21 she hit the killer note on "pretending". I do not agree with the judge who said that she was reaching for the high notes. She HIT them, and you are supposed to be reaching for those notes, and she got there.
that was amazing! i envy you so much? i went to a voice instructor not that long ago and i sung a song for her that i'd been rehersing for quite a while and i thought it was one of the best i'd done. she taped it with her top notch equipment and played it back and said "do you REALLY want it to sound like THAT?" i was devistated. i was almost crying when i left. the worst part is all my singing friends rave about how acurate she is. god i wish i had your voice!

Don't let what one person says bring you down, keep practicing, you always think you sound worse than how other people hear it. Keep going! And maybe post a vid of the song you sang on youtube, get some other opinions as well. :)
Don't you give up. Find an instructor that isn't full of themselves and can give an honest opinion without being a dusche and I am sure you can achieve your dreams.
That was pretty good! Getting a vocal coach would help with the voice control and then she would be amazing..there were definitely some VERY rough spots. Keep singing!
The talent, ability, and looks are all there. She needs a good vocal coach and someone who can teach her about performance, but all the stuff that can't be taught is there in spades. If she's driven and this is what she wants she's got it.

It was a pop idol type of contest held in a theater that usually does Broadway style musicals. So, she tried to sing it as a sort of mixture of both. She won third place.
loved the vocals but i think the performance as a whole could be worked on but i think that comes with age and experience.... a lil star in the making :) xox

It's a strange song to pick for an "idol" type contest. It isn't current at all. At the same time, her voice is beautiful and I think she did a great job.
The contest was associated with a local community theater. Many of the judges and audience members were people with an interest in musical theater. So about half the contestants chose songs from musicals.

I really like the way she did this. She made is sound pleasantly different then many of the other ways I've heard it. I sing it too on my page, but think she has really great talent!

Very nice, I like her performance more than most professional versions on YouTube. Really, I sing this song a lot as well, but my low range is not as beautiful as yours. Congratulations!

I did this song for my music exam and I do not think it was anywhere as good as this. Although she did shout at times. It is a really difficult song to sing especially the belting parts lol.. She did a great job of it. and she does look great =]

It's a strange song to pick for an "idol" type contest. It isn't current at all. At the same time, her voice is beautiful and I think she did a great job.

The contest was associated with a local community theater. Many of the judges and audience members were people with an interest in musical theater. So about half the contestants chose songs from musicals.
