Starting a successfull business is easier said then done. First you gotta find something that either nobody or barely anybody else is doing. Second, make sure there's an actual profitable market for it. Third you gotta make up a business plan to let the banks and other financial investors in on what you plan on doing.... This is just a very basic "how to" ... there are many other more complex steps. But i'm sure you guys get the idea

There are a variety of loop holes to get out of paying taxes. You just have to be educated enough to use them, or rich enough (corporations) to hire accountants and book keepers to do it for you. It's called creative accounting. If what Hollywood reported as net profit was true, all major studios would be bankrupt. Period.
That's the stupid part of the system. If you're hollywood, Exxon, Walmart, etc you can hire the world's coolest accountants to get you out of the world's 2nd highest tax rates. If you're a ma and pa shop, like what she's asking for then you get stuck with the full 37% and as you've said, you'd be "bankrupt. Period." It's true. Not even communist China thinks our business tax is an acceptable rate...when you have higher taxes then the communist nations you've got issues.

All corporate taxes are based upon gross sales, not net. This means that you could be loosing 100k a year and still having to pay an equal amount or more in taxes. It also means that the 50k number you just through me is silly...that's not a ma and pa shop, it's a backdoor business or one about to be broke.

The very text book example corporate tyranny. I hire people based on their abilities and while I may disapprove of their politics I certainly wouldn't do something like squelch their opinion via firing. I hire both Democrats and Republicans as long as they can do the job.

Wow... You really don't know how that tax works do you? I'm a business school graduate and I assure you, no matter what you may think, that is not the problem. There are a variety of loop holes to get out of paying taxes. You just have to be educated enough to use them, or rich enough (corporations) to hire accountants and book keepers to do it for you. It's called creative accounting. If what Hollywood reported as net profit was true, all major studios would be bankrupt. Period.

That's the stupid part of the system. If you're hollywood, Exxon, Walmart, etc you can hire the world's coolest accountants to get you out of the world's 2nd highest tax rates. If you're a ma and pa shop, like what she's asking for then you get stuck with the full 37% and as you've said, you'd be "bankrupt. Period." It's true. Not even communist China thinks our business tax is an acceptable rate...when you have higher taxes then the communist nations you've got issues.

Most states also tax companies,[1] but the state tax is a deductible expense in calculating federal tax, so the overall tax rate is not simply the sum of the two tax rates." That 35% highest tax rate, doesn't even come into play for the ma and pop stores.

Much as I love the great minds at Wiki, here's what they don't tell you: 1. that's only the federal tax and doesn't include the state corporate tax. 2. All corporate taxes are based upon gross sales, not net. This means that you could be loosing 100k a year and still having to pay an equal amount or more in taxes. It also means that the 50k number you just through me is silly...that's not a ma and pa shop, it's a backdoor business or one about to be broke.
