  • Actually I first heard if from Jansch. It's really Davy Graham's song. I still stand by my opinion of Jansch's version though.

  • This is a Bert Jansch tune which Simon recorded. Listen to Bert's version. I personally feel it is another level beyond Simon.

  • Wicked good

  • your so cool man

  • very sensitive - a wonderful interpretation thanks

  • who autographed ur guitar

  • Great playing here. Just out of curiosity, did you learn this from a score or did you figure it out by ear?

  • verry cool

  • Great cover man, nice guitar too! My little brother has that same guitar.

  • Am.

Paul swiped the chords and the main riff and used them in his song 'Somewhere they can't find me'.

  • he used them in wednesday morning 3am first....

  • I learnt my version from Paul Simon too, it took me a while to discover he didn't wasn't the original. Very nice playing.

  • Hey I really like your Anji! just posted my first Youtube and it was Anji and it seems like their is this whole cult of Anji players out there! Love your tempo and feel man.

  • nice playing!!

could you send me the tab?

im playing another version... capo on 3rd fret

    its a bit different..

    tnx in advance!

  • man u good lol i can almost play the first part of this but tht after like ten days solid practice

  • Nice, but maybe a bit to wary/sparing/careful ? I love the live Simon-version. He is more definite/aggressive. What's your opinion ?

  • I've been playing guitar off and on since 1990 ,I'm 36 and just picked the damn thing up again and I've always half assed playing this song , but after watching and listening to you , I'm going to give up haha. Sweet job there Mister Mister! :)

  • HaHaHa good one! Don't give up yet, if I can do it, so can you!

  • Very impressive style...you make it look easy which it isn't. I play the Renbourn version.

  • Been trying to figure this song out for 3 years :( The best I can do is "April Come She Will."

  • im learnig this song right now, but what key is this played in.?

  • Beautiful. This was probably one of the first guitar songs I really liked, and now that I'm a beginner at guitar I can learn to play it in a year or two...

  • i gota learn it 1st time round and i keep coming back to it...still no success

  • The last comment on my effort of Anjie was that it was too fast. I listened to yours(which I think is cool by the way) and it seems about the same speed to me. What do you think? Tony

  • Hey, thanks! My guitar teacher taught me Anji 20+ years ago, and now that I'm retired, I'm learning to play it again. Your video is sure to help jog those memory cells.

  • Yep, I did that too, had to relearn it 30 years later, but it was worth the effort. Have fun!

  • Haha.. my name's Anji :-P

  • great, I'm looking forward to learn it also. So, I can watch your video for help :D

  • sounds great bro!!!

  • Great stuff, sounds almost impossible to play!

  • He's really, really good. He makes that song look easy and it's not!

  • MARWELLOUS PLAYER REALLY

  • Good playing, there's quite a good sound off that little guitar

  • hey you there : ) very nice played : )) thanks a lot for uploading. just at it to learn this piece

  • very good, and Martin guitars sound smooooth.

  • Hi Goldhat, I really enjoyed your playing. In the proper Davy Graham vein, you play Angie as a smooth, somewhat melancholic piece. Simon already added a bit of salt 'n pepper, but the Dutch guitarist Harry Sacksioni (who also took the piece from Simon) turned it into a great bravurah piece and audience pleaser. Search for 'Sacksioni' and 'Anji' here on YouTube, and enjoy!

  • You're right, thanks for the tip. I enjoy all the different versions up on youtube. The more the merrier!

  • @mcouzijn I think Harry plays it too fast.

  • @tremoloheart Too fast for what? This is by no means a trivial question.

  • @elseverwoerd ...too fast for my liking, that's all. Goldlhat's speed is fine, as is Davy Graham's and Paul Simon's versions. I just think Harry S's version is too fast (and sometimes even for his fingers as he makes just a few mistakes I admit...but maybe these mistakes could have been avoided by just playing it a little slower.

  • enough with the history lesson grandpa

  • Duh!

  • beautiful song i can nearly play it badly and i have that painting in the backround

  • Thanks for that, beautiful playing...I've just started learning it myself...blimey! That's inspiring.

  • great playing man, nice sounding guitar to, is it a martin?

  • Little Martin

  • your really good.

    how long have you played?

    x

  • Thanks. I started playing in 1966.

  • wow thats age.

    i started 4 years ago

    x

  • Nice! So I started at about the same age as you. So think about it you can play like me in 40 years or so.

  • Nicely played, and it was Paul Simons version I learnt it from too.

  • nicely played, whos signature on your guitar. I knew Davy Graham during the 70's. Paul Simon suggested that they form a duo in the early 60's which Davy declined. Simon described Graham as Englands finest Jazz/Blues guitarist. Unfortunately I have lost contact with Davy but his most recent video clip shows he still lives in the same place, I will drop him a line.

  • saw him on a bbc4 doc about folk music last year, he looked ok

  • I love the intro, I'd love to hear more!

  • Fantastic! I love this song.
