  • Pat es la encarnación del Dios de la Música. Gracias Pat por tu aporte al mundo de nosotros los mortales.

  • My son's marching band in 1996 played HAVE YOU HEARD, LETTER FROM HOME AND MINUANO in band competitions in Southern California, the west and nationally. They won most of their competitions because of their artistry, and this wonderful music that they performed brilliantly. Pat Metheny is an inspiration to all that love music. He is one of the all time greats I have ever heard. This music penetrates my soul and it makes my cry it is so beautiful. There is nothing like it!

  • Anyone know what guitar he is using and is it loaded with a guitar synthesizer output?

  • good

  • funny

  • the music with more feeling than i could just die to

  • 16 people are Yanni fans

  • The Roger Federer of the guitar! (Federer at his supreme best, that is).

  • ONE OF THE BEST MUSICAL EXPRESSIONS AND PHRASES IN THE HISTORY OF MODERN MUSIC 6:28-6:44.

  • PAT METHENY IS INDEED GOD. This the best music EVER created!!!!!!

  • pat metheny is god

  • I seriously don't understand why this doesn't have over a million views.

  • @TimAngelesAcorda because most idiots here watch cats jerkin off and other banal stuff like that

  • 6:50

    DAT COUNTERMELODY.

  • 15 people don't know minuano

  • Literally brought tears to my eyes. Wow.

  • 4:08 to 5:08 has to be one of the best jazz guitar solo's of all time. And the Metropool Orchestra.....unbelievable, Jim. desweef, thanks again...and again. monster post.

  • 4:08 to 5:08 has to be one of the best jazz guitar solo's of all time. And the Metropool Orchestra.....unbelievable, Jim.

  • Sounds a little hoeky with the orchestra. I like the album version better.

  • he's like a modern-day Beethoven - keeps your senses continually on its toes, ever feeling and yearning to hear more...

  • Brilliant.

  • GIVE ME THE PMG ANYDAY OVER THIS

  • Pat you have to bring back Danny Gottlieb on drums,he was the best drummer and after seeing perform in NYC he is even better......a Master !

  • WOW WOW WOW WOW OMG PAT IS IN A WORLD OF HIS OWN. HE HAS HIS OWN SOUND I LOVE IT LOVE LOVE IT. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HEARD THE MAN PLAY AND I AM TOTALLY A BELIEVER.

  • So love the simple complexity haunted by a running wistfulness reminiscent of looking out the window at a rainy landscape in the twilight of tears, remembering a glorious time. Wonder-full and rich. Thank You for posting this where I could find and enjoy it. Thank You and Pat for this incredible piece.

  • @asgabeler Incredibly well said.

  • Simply Amazing!!!

  • We recommend using Mediaoutletonline for getting f.r..ee m..uzzic similar to this. Yall should try and search it using Bing.

  • I like the part where he plays the guitar..

  • @jens3737 THATS THE ONLY PART I LIKE.

  • @jimsonIL

    It is. It totally is.

  • Awesome. Need to hear it everyday if possible. Makes me happier.

  • That’s all very good but give him an Akai sampler or a Roland TR-909 drum machine and he probably wouldn’t know what to do with it.

  • @smalllove1 thats such a ridiculous comment.... Anyone with an instruction manual could use an Akai sampler and a Roland TR-909. Playing and understanding jazz and improvisation like Pat Metheny do though, does not come with a manual, but with decades of work and practice.

  • i absolutely love this song

  • That bridge at 6:30 or so is such a blast. Can it be as fun to preform as it is ti listen and watch?

  • @jimsonIL Absolutely

  • metheny genio ! se te extraña pedro aznar

  • Its the same Orchestra who performed 'For the love of God' with Steve vai.

  • That was the best rendition of Minuano Ive seen. Metheny = Mozart

  • @packfaz79 that 's it ! your comment has a special meaning for me. I don't like Metheny, his playing is superficial and boring and there is only one person whose music is even more boring for me and my ears: Mozart.

  • negative votes of 13 stupids idiots dont know music, feel sorry for them

  • Amazing ...... The man is a genius ...!

  • Amazing ......

  • beautiful!

  • This is really amazing stuff, I love the beginning!

  • Long live Metheny and the state of Israel

  • Since this is one of my favorites, I have played this song hundreds of times since 87 so my ears are very critical. Man I was completely aurally satisfied. What a damn fine orchestra. No comment about Pat needed.

  • 13 people are tone-deaf.

  • @sarcasticgrunt01 13 people are kenny g fans

  • Absolute & Sheer GENIUS!!!You know you are listening to "Organically" created music...when you can listen to the same CD Audio Tracks of most all of Metheny's Music and you never tire of listening & being re-inspired everytime!!!!Let me tell you that when the Extraterestrial Aliens come to get me...i will say ..."Wait!!!I need to grab my "PatMethenyGroup" DVD's before you take me away!!!"

  • who did the orchestration here?

  • @pepakake27 did orchestrion 3 times ... life altering, mind-blowing!

  • Pat Metheny and Metropool Orchestra are truly amazing

Thank you for sharing this video.

  • Where does one purchase these arrangements?

  • Who ever orchestrated this is a monster! What an amazing job!

  • Simply awesome!!!

  • Outstanding!

  • Philip Glass?

  • I played this in a drumline once. It was awesome.

  • @sparks158 What drumline? My friend Matt wrote a fantastic indoor show with Metheny stuff for Mansfield High in MA. They also did a bunch of Chic stuff as well...just superior playing and superior writing.

  • From where is this orchestra??

  • @TheCastagne

This orchestra is the Metropole Orchestra from the Netherlands. It's the best jazz symphony orchestra there is in my opinion.

  • what a great sound!!!!

  • Pat himself - like orchestra!

  • how can anyone conduct while metheny is improvising infront of you?

  • awwww that change was amazing

  • This is AMAZING please disable the thumbs down :) .I love Pat

  • I've always liked pat, but he sounds particularly inspired playing with this orchestra. is this avail on DVD? he should cut an album with these guys-they add a lot to his music. thx pat and metropole-awesome.

  • Come on, did they really need a conductor?

  • Is this John Williams conducting?

  • @Thefaze100963 definitely not, the Metropole Orkest is Dutch? If I'm not mistaken?

  • Wow...in Pat we see a guy who straddles mastery of composition, arranging and improvisation. All with a unique style and seemingly limitless energy. His 'big hair' says it all!

  • When I'm listening this, I can feel this minuano.

  • He is talented no doubt and I have plenty of his albums, but every time I watch a live performance he looks liek the guy from the "jizz in my pants" video.

  • This song is one of my favorites!

  • Aprender!

  • Pat Matheny is one of my favorite jazz musicians of all-time!!! I love this song!!!

  • Wow-this performance is a knockout. Is this avail on DVD?

  • Yeah, Baby!

  • Orquestra com nível suficiente pra tocar musicas de Mestre Pat!!!

  • I love how when they preform live, all of their songs sound different from CD...and if you see him again it sounds completely different too...it's amazing. Pat Metheny<3

  • Pat is God

  • Steve Rodby and Paul Wertico's new band - Marbin

  • 12 Dragonforce fans XD

  • @007Pogo idiot

  • @Zarrinkoub Fuck off mothefucker.

  • Pat Methany is the MAN- very creative man indeed. In my book he ranks right up there with Swing Out Sister.

  • Good Lord amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this master of sound and how he takes you on this wonderful, blissful ride thank you

  • I love Pat Metheny to death and think he is one of the foremost guitarists in the world..... but why does he always look like he is holding in a dump? or a fart or something?

  • @theendlessenigma Maybe he is.

  • @theendlessenigma

Well... Why do YOU think he's making faces? Look at yourself in the mirror while having fantastic sex. Then you'll know.

  • @jazzassin sounds like a plan. He is simply amazing and a gentleman.

  • @jazzassin WIN

  • @jazzassin OH MAN, that felt soooo goood! :)

  • @jazzassin dido that!

  • @jazzassin well that point is well taken ... but I do recognize him as the king of guitar in my book! If I could play 1/4 this good (which I absolutely can not) I would still be better that 99.99999999 percent of the other people who are playing the instrument.

  • @theendlessenigma

Totally agree. A true master and a great inspiration!

Saw him and his group first time live in -83, and haven't had many days since then without a little Metheny in the soundtrack to my life.

  • @theendlessenigma many americans are profoundly constipated hence the fact they're always invading countries and stealing from them so you can have walmarts. At least Pat is offering great music and his expressions are nothing compared to the harm Americans do to the rest of us esp supporting Israel and world terrorism.

  • no one can create stories with his music like pmg...you have to listen in its entirety to understand...

  • @waynenduane-awesome....

  • Miaa mia mia mia mia mia miauuuuuuuuuu! mininuano bien ahi poly!!!!!!!!!

  • i never see him with the ibanez

  • Wow! what an ending ,reminds me of Nelson Riddle's Orchestrations to Sinatra. Too bad Kenny Rankin and Pat never perfomed together. Their styles would have blended well, me thinks. What say you ?

  • 11 Dragonforce fans disliked the video

  • Wow....truly amazing stuff. Never though PMG music would work so brilliantly with orchestra! From 6:28 to 6:44 made me want to laugh and cry at the same time. Use more brass in your music Pat!

  • good is nothing to such Song like this=)

  • Hey arabist Hans Jansen als dirigent

  • beautiful!

  • They see PM rockin', they hatin'. =]

  • bland twiddling. You know, if his technique was worse he'd be better.

  • @khasab im upset to hear u dnt hear the complex feelings translated (with a fleeting burst of commitment and creativity) into an unbelievable texture of ideas that flick ur body in all directions. plz, try again with this in mind.

    and also

    FUCK U

  • @kdgnrtd bland commenting. Why should what I think upset you? 'fleeting' refers to things that only last a short time (so you are inadvertentely correct, he may have had a fleeting moment of creativity in there somewhere) you want me to try again? try what? do you mean listen again? why? to see if it will 'flick me body'?

You know, with a little more vocabulary YOU'D be better . and also

GET SOME VOWELS ( see, no swearing)

  • @khasab y wuld i want to waste time using thorough english on such a worthless comment as urs when i culd be feeling music? it was already a waste of time trying get u to understand in the first plce. i will no longer respond to ur comments. (sorry for swearing)

  • @khasab and by the way, im japanese

  • @kdgnrtd look you are just a young kid ( that's a good thing) and you have a lot to learn ( good thing too) I could be your grandfather, never mind about your father. Remember , music is only a PART of life. it's a good part but it's only a part. Listen to whatever you like and let other people do the same. choose your friends wisely. live long and prosper.

  • @kdgnrtd funny as hell

  • i didn't much like this song at first, but it really grows on you

  • Is Pedro Aznar the lead vocalist, I saw them in concert in Orlando many years ago and was blown away they were incredible. Lyle Mays is pure genius too.

  • I gotta post this again. Best Pat Minuano post EVER. Thank you very much desweef. Soo cool. And the Metropool Orchestra, outta their minds on this track.

  • this is a bridge, madonna cara

  • I don't care if all you listen to is Hip Hop and death metal. THIS IS MUSIC. Period.

  • First time I heard Pat Metheny in 70s,.I said .Man this dude is great , I still think so.

  • probably my favorite Pat song

  • this song make me want to learn how to play the guitar

and i can only imagine how fun it would to play that sorta waltzy feel on the trapset...

  • 6:25

  • Bluekarma:

    Pat paints with me!

And I know exactly how you feel!

I've known his music only since 1994, and from then on it has been part of my art.

    And my life.

I always feel ,that music so beautiful, connects you with the Universe in prayer!

  • gay or straight, Pat has more talent in his pinkie, than all of us posting here COMBINED! He is extraordinary and his talent is going to legend to future generations! You can't sit here and listen to this mans music and not be mesmerized and blown away! I am! I recently discovered what I had been longing for my whole life!

  • 11 Kenny G fans?

  • @Starslider Must be! Or muzak fans.

  • @Starslider

    Lololololol, yeah!!!! You bet!!!!!

  • @Starslider Love this video..But whats wrong with kenny G?

  • @Starslider

    I'm a Kenny G fan and I like this...

  • @Starslider Haha! Must be Kenny G fans. This music is truly AMAZING!

  • @Starslider i like this and kenny G.

  • @TheBeatlesCom false

  • @Pewpshmear How so? Can I not like Kenny G's version of "It had to be you" "Have yourself a merry little christmas" "White Christmas" "Let it snow" All his christmas songs to be exact. And His Version of Misty and At last, and also love the talent and Musicianship of Pat Metheny? ..

  • @TheBeatlesCom whatever floats your boat.

  • @TheBeatlesCom Somebody's not going to be invited to the "wehatekennyg" fan club annual christmas party...c'mon if your gonna go for fromage yuppie jazz, anything is better than Kennygstring. I dunno try Dave Koz. Or scrap the whole idea and listen to Bird.

  • @misterfunnybones You can't say you don't love Kenny G's christmas titles. They're the only thing I really listen to. And they're great for this time of year.

  • @TheBeatlesCom I can say it because I never listen to Kenny G, unless I'm stuck in an elevator or dentist office and it's inescapable. It'd be great to hear Kenny play silent night with the emphasis on the first word, silent. Cannonball Adderly, Michael Brecker anyone?

  • @Starslider could be yanni ... or enya

  • @theendlessenigma And you could be writing music reviews for Weekly World News if you interned there for 12 years or so.

  • @RFIDemocracy well that is almost a compliment i would suppose in some sort of bizarre sort of way. That being said 11 years is the length of the assistant manager program at the local subway.

  • @Starslider Who?

  • @Starslider That's the only explanation! :))

  • unbelievable and amazing love it

  • 6:28

    jizz

  • @vaja48le-most definitely. Music is all in it's own space, and everything else that we devote our lives to: politics, sport, religion. None of it matters. All that there is, is music. So don't worry about it. Enjoy, while you're still alive.

  • 3:46: I keep wanting to sing "and a banjo on my knee!"

But this song is pretty excellent. THUMBS UP

  • a great gay icon of years to come

    warmest regarts

    Rab Hines

  • @andifyouhadtwocoats ...Pat is NOT gay. He is happily married to Latifa, his French-Moroccan wife with whom he has two sons named Jeff Kaiis and Nicolas Djakeem.
