I would say you just saw some of those people who tow the boat in locks! You schould better never do that, no matter if upwards, or downwards... There are a lot of ore funny pictures in the net...
not sure what type of boat it is, a sunken one i supose, it belongs to my girlfriends dad and it was in chester somewhere called bumford.
the boat before him left the slush gate open which is under the water so he didnt see it,not sure what happened exactly but it went down fast. it was there all night and all the other traffic was stuck on the canal till the next day,there was some unhappy chappies,but the boat was insured all now is fully repaired on back in action, but i've not been on it.
looks like it sank in the locks.... really good chance for recovery
