Last time I checked MetalApocalypse.... A no shirt bench in IPF, APF, or NAPA, and many other organizations.... regulations state that there is NO pause with a "noshirt" bench. It also statges that if you do not have a shirt, you require to use a thumb fold bench, NOT A THUMBLESS BENCH!! So, for your ignorant comment, don't speak unless you know ALL the facts.
you arch your back like that to keep your shirt from sliding up, many guys even wear a belt just to keep the shirt in place, too...you guys never wore a benching shirt obviously
I used to think just like you... it makes sense... until I realized that the shirt protects your shoulders from injury. For some of us veterans with chronic pain from rotator cuff problems, the premise of a shirt that helps alleviating pain and additional damage makes it attractive.
I've never tried to bench that much...but whats the deal with these shirts...how do they make you bench so much more thats ridiculous...right now im at 365
While it's true that 405 for a shirted lift is nothing special, only a fuckface would tell another lifter that. True lifters encourage one another no matter what the weight, because we all started from 135 once.
Some outlaw sanctions allow heels off floor, but you can't move them. As far as locking out evenly, most feds require that. Also most tested sanctionS only allow single ply equipment as well... still feels good to handle the big weight ...ehh
My shirt is amazing. The specifications are amazing gotta love Karins DD. Although I am finishing a massive cut (from 240 18% to 218 @ 9%) it doesnt fit real well now. Can still get 335 raw and roughly 425-430 in mine currently....Strong triceps!
jus wonderin, cus i dont no too much botu weight liftin, wat does the shirt do? from wat u guys r sayin, it sounds like it helps u lift more...plz holler back
I lift with guys who compete, there's a dude who struggles with 420, puts on a "loose" denim and gets to 560, then puts on a "tight" denim and pushes up 620-640. The shirt was originally for keeping shoulders from falling apart, and tearing pecs, but it's become a science in itself. A good shirt is custom fit to about 30 measurments of your upper body.
A shirt allows you to lift anywhere from 5 lbs, to however much more you are able. At the first of the season, I was only bench 270 (lmao) .... Now it has only been 1 month and I am at 425. I am still only 17-years-old (VIEW VIDEO UNDER MY NAME) ... But, yes, the shirt is VERY tight in the chest, having to pull the weight down to your chest, and exploding upwards, allowing you to bench more.
it looks like an inzer double ply denim......good lift....but your raw probably isnt any more than 315......When I benched 365 raw and got in my karins DD bench shirt i immediatly got 405....for reps.....
yeah it is an inzer double ply denim and my raw is somewheres around 315. At the time of this lift, I had only used the shirt a handful of times and was still learning how to get the most out of it. How is your Karins shirt? Better then inzer? Also did it fit right when you frist got it? I know some one who got a DD bench shirt and the measurements were all out of whack.
hahah @ the arched-back comments. Don't comment on powerlifting videos when you have no idea what powerlifting is.

Where is the pause? Ever fed - tested/nontested, shirted/noshirt, regardless of minor details requires... A PAUSE

yer without the shirt ud be doing 350lbs raw

Even less, a denim shirt is giving him at least 80 pounds. Seriously, if you only get 50 pounds from a denim open back shirt, pack it in.

All you people criticizing the practice of powerlifting arches are complete idiots. And probably weak ass bitches, to boot.

Even RAW bench press record holders use an arch, silly.

.... to all the no arch comments. Learn to powerlift, dumbasses. That's how you bench.

good point and great comment. 405 may not be that big to some, but it was the first time I pressed it (there were many attempts prior).
