Heard this song where i work. I don't feel any "soul" put into most songs I hear on the radio these days, but that's probably just because I'm not into that genre. From a lot of these popular songs, all I get is a "buy me so I can get richer" vibe, especially when I hear the lyrics. I will "agree" on that, and I'll admit I too thought imogen was a young guy the very first time I heard her :3

@awakeatnight1 I mostly meant radio as in what's popular or mainstream, but I usually bring my own CDs. Hell I can't even listen to some rather well known bands without getting a lot of strange faces sometimes simply because they're not "mainstream", I get confused with a lot of songs I hear now and days since a lot of them sound the same to me, just different lyrics, at least not all has been lost if you just look in the right places :D
yeah i know what you mean about new faces which is why i prefer to listen to them in their heyday, usually 70's/80's/early 90's. I don't know if it's true but i've some say the best place outside of mainstream these days is itunes. Summer vacation, I met the girl of my dreams. The only problem was that she had a boyfriend. Tonight, at 1:30 AM I kissed her, she was very happy but sad at the same time, I felt the guilt as well for putting this on her. She then played this song, saying that it described out situation perfectly. Now 10 minutes after, I'm here listening to this amazing song, that describes not only my situation, but many others. :)

Three years ago I was really into a girl whom I talked with all the time but never gathered up the courage to ask out, for fear of rejection. Well, the song is basically about being a stalker, thinking about someone all the time, and her having to "say goodnight and go"
Or at least, that's the only meaning I've ever gotten from it. xD
But it's an amazingly well written song. And I think most people can relate to the chorus. :D Just not the following people home, and watching them while they watch TV, or planning ways to get them into your house so you can take advantage of them. O_O;

It sounds exactly what I've gone through, being in love with a guy who was the cutest thing ever and one day I missed the train and had to stay with him over a night... it didn't really happen anything, but I will miss it so much... (we're not even friends now).

@flyingduckystudios @flyingduckystudios its not that revolutionary, most people who are honest about their musical likes will admit to liking things that are entirely outside of "their genre". i love metal, but i love indie stuff too; imogen heap, frou frou, grizzly bear, band of horses, In Flames, Opeth, Killswitch Engage. ignorant people are mainly the ones who only ascribe to one genre of music and disparage all other genres. gender doesnt matter, but in this day in age thats all ppl care abt

i agree with the fact that music should be listened to for enjoyment and for the sake of music but i do agree with you, i agree with songs are written for reasons and about things but i just try not to get in too deep about the meaning. Just say its about a guy she likes and how wonderful it is for her to be in love or something and i leave it at that and just concentrate on the song itself.
