To be honest, fans of Quarantine would most probably turn Rec off as soon as they realised it was in Spanish. Reading subtitles would be too difficult.

quarantine was dumbed down version of rec. they felt they had to explain everything. super rabies? how stupid is that. sure it can happen. but i like that in rec it's not explained and it isn't rabies. they actually die in the movie and come back. rec 2 takes place in the same apt. building. only this time it's viewed by 3 different cameras carried by swat team members. they discover tons of things that will make you go back and watch the first movie again cuz you missed things.

I actually liked Quarantine much more than [REC]. The acting, direction, lighting, and story was much better. The only thing that bothered me was the overuse of "hollywood" type actors. This trailer shows me that the original directors took notes from Quarantine, so I think it will work out better.

Quarantine was a sellout of a story line, the only thing good about it was how real the infected looked. Why the fuck did they use an HD Camera? They are fucking news reporters for a local channel, why would they have 10,000 dollar cameras, and not to mention you can't run with those things either. REC was so much more realistic in the fact that he had a normal camera.

The story was exactly the same, so you're just calling [Rec] a sellout. Also, there are quite a few HD handicams out there, have you seen Crank 2? That was all filmed with two tiny cameras. Whats wrong with having decent picture quality, anyways? People just like to bitch about Quarantine just because its an American remake, even though its better than REC. The only problem with Quarantine was the cast.

The story was not the same. The nature of the disease in Rec was a demonic possession that found a way to take control of other hosts through viral infection. In Quarantine it was just a doomsday cult that stole it from a bio lab.

The demonic possession angle actually plays a BIG part in Rec 2 and it makes Quarantine look even more short sighted for discarding it.

Most local news channels, especially in LA, do have HD cameras now, and most are actually lighter than the older equipment they used to use. Still, the program actually sounded more like a basic cable lifestyle program... But the kind that also would probably opt for HD these days.

I liked Rec better for a lot of reasons, but the camera used isn't one of them.

Maybe I'm a rare person, but subtitles for me blend with the movie, and it has never taken away from the mood of anything. It has to do with reading speed and comprehension...
