Rabbits are pests, which they are legally entitled to hunt and kill for pest control in many parts of the world.
They cause damage for millions and destroy crops and other things grown to feed humans.
They are stupid and weak and are no match even for a small stoat. Rabbits solely exist to be eaten by owls, foxes, wolverines, snakes or any other predator.

@9N8X. Snakes control the pest poulation? You're a fucking idiot. At the rate rats or mice multiply there is not enough snakes to control anything of that nature. So in your little adolescent brain you basically made snakes out to be superhereos and are there to protect us from the evil villain rodents from our homes. I'll look in the sky tomorrow to see if one of your super snake is flying above with his cape on, ready to save us from the furry creatures of the world.
@9N8X So now you are bothered by childish insults that you origianally tossed out there first? If your going to throw a puch dude, you better be ready to take one back and not play the victim card later. I'm not denying they eat certain prey like rodents, but to control the population is just ludicrous.
lol thats SOOO stupid. without snakes, rodent populations would be over the roof. ecosystems would be completly put off-balance. and less then 10% of snake reach adult size either because of natural reasons or because of ignorant humans who kill them on sight.
I can't even imagine where you grab your info from, but snakes can in no way control the rodent population. You stated yourself few survive into adulthood.Rodents have a higher survival rate for the fact that they are mammals and have the superior brainpower.Seems you have all the facts and figures, only they just don't add up,do they?Nighty-nine percent of the educated people who have normal pets would disagree with everything you have said as hearsay hogwash by some sesationalistic pencil-pusher.
All of what you just said was complete gibberish. Snakes are EXTREMLELY imporant to natural ecosystems. Without them, rodent populations would be unstable. Snakes are pest-controlers and farmers often keep them around to control those nasty rodents and rabbits that devour crops. And what is a "real" pet? A rabbit or mouse? A dog or cat? No animal was meant for captivity. It's just us humans that keep them because we enjoy them. And snakes make FAR better pets then a nasty, shits-everywhere rabbit
OH, and trust me, rabbits and rodents don't have a higher survival rate because of brainpower HAHAHA. They DO NOT have high survival rates. They're eaten by FUCKN EVERYTHING. They're at the very bottom of many food chains. They do, however, have high POPULATIONS. This is because they breed several times a year with numerous offspring. Im sorry that you're so simple that you can only care about an animal if it's cute and fluffy, and that you're too ignorant to understand how nature works. Peace:)
Btw that 7 thousand offspring thing was pulled right out of your ass. That doesn't add up at all. Where did you get that information? Let's say 2 corn snakes breed, as they can be seen as an average North American snake. Average clutch yield of maybe 20 eggs, several of which would likely be infertile or still-born. 10% of the snakes survive to adulthood to breed, meaning maybe 2 snakes. A male will have to be about a year old and a female 3 years to breed. In 10 years, it does not add up AT ALL
I knew if I waited long enough you would stick your cheesy foot into your mouth. First you say there are enough snakes to control the rodent population. Now you say only a small percentage of snakes survive to adulthood. You're confusing me! Seriously, I get my stats from Encyclopaedia Brittanica (an unimpeachable source), and various and sundry nature TV. Your shit sounds like a reptile salesmans blarney (BULL SHIT) to hook a sale from naive and gullable idiots as yourself.
I dont understand what you're trying to tell me? What do you mean I sound like a reptile salesman?A 14 year old is clearly more informed then you on reptiles and you continue to ingorantly shut out valid information. I'm giving you irrefutable FACTS that are acknowledged by reputable breeders and herpetologists. And I'm just saying that snakes are becoming more and more scarce due to human interfearance but nowhere did I mention that their populations are too small to effect rodent populations.
Why are there rattlesnake roundups? Why do nearly ALL animals have an instinctive fear of snakes? Why was a snake chosen to lie to Eve?Just to give snakes a black eye?Why does every rancher in the US exterminate livestock-killing snakes?A calf cannot survive a poisonous snakebite. That shit costs the rancher who must pass on the loss to the consumer. Why don't people who have snakes take them to bed with them, like a dog or cat?I could go on ad nauseum, but you either get the picture or you don't.
Sorry Slick, all of your replies are obviously self-serving.Why do you think the Scriptures selected a snake to lie to Eve?Would it have had more impact if they had chosen a kitten or aardvark?Ridiculous, isn't it?The untrustworthy serpent was made to order for that situation. Why are snakes in some quarters refered to as "LAND MINES",for the fact they are hidden from view until some poor victim crosses it's path? Maintain your Little Shop of Horrors, maybe the world will all see it your way...NOT!
Well, clearly you've run out of any reasonable arguements (not that you brought up any). You don't have to see it my way, but it is the right way. If you're too simple to comprehend it, so be it. At least my opinions are based on facts and understanding of the natural system rather then ignorant superstitions, fear, and unintellegent prejudices.
To add, you made a previous comment on how we snake owners can't take our snakes to bed with us like cats and dogs. Needless to say, the reason is obvious (though I know of some people who foolishly let their large pythons and boas sleep in the same room and bed with them a few times) But Id like to say that the domestic dogs and cats of today are the products of thousands of years of captivity. Id like to see you try to pet a wild pack dog, wolf or ocelot. See how the cute, fluffy puppy reacts.
I'd love for you to get the oppurtunity to interact with some of my snakes. You'd see how docile and non-aggresive they can be.All my snakes are extremely docile and greatly tolerate handling- even enjoy it due to the warmth from mamalian bodies. Close to never do any of them bite, as they are captive born and raised. They make really rewarding pets. I also have a hamster that I can safely say is not nearly as docile as my snakes.Obviously though, they dont nearly match up to the loyalty of dogs
@RenatoandEric Snakes are completely useless. I'm from Chicago and there's no snakes here. As far as controling the rodent population, if rodents are a problem then that's where man steps in. People who own snakes have a sick sense of ownership because if my memory serves me correct, they eat their prey alive. What kind of a human would enjoy watching their pet snake eat something alive? And I don't want to hear the arguement of the "cycle of life" crap. That's for snakes in the wild.
@9N8X I can see why you didn't form a constructive arguement towards my critisism from the beginning. Where to begin. The only thing accurate that I said from your reply is that I said snakes are useless. If you read my other comment you would know I am from Chicago, and we seem to be doing just fine without snakes slithering in our yards. If rodents become problems there's this new invention called EXTERMINATORS. As far as I know they don't use snakes to exterminate.
@9N8X I never said rabbits were more useful than snakes according to you. I do like rabbits, and they are not pests where I live. Obviously your one of those dudes that gets off on the enjoyment of watching a snake devour a bunny and thinking it's bad ass. Guys who watch that stuff or encourage it obviously have some kind of deficiency in their life.
@9N8X Animal Planet? Discovery? Dumb ass. That's animals in the wild that are being studdied on how they live and eat to survive. That's actual hunting, and not some dope that has a glass case or cage and has to feed a snake live prey. That's the discussion here. Stay on the subject.
@9N8X That's not a relevant statement purtaining to this discussion. You're back pedaling and have absolutely no answers to anything to back up your arguement. That would indicate this discussion is closed because now it's just waisting time.
@klccalendar If you are referring to the word "pertaining" you are correct. When I deal with idiotic people, sometimes my hands move faster than my brain while typing. I'll be careful with my spelling as long as you can form a proper sentence. I would prefer to "Learn how to spell" rather than "Need to learn to spell."
The way I see it rodents are not pets like a dog is. A dog is a social animal which you can train and can save your life. Rodents and whatever rabbits are exists solely to become food to other predators, and for this reason they breed rapidly, or they'd gone extinct.
Rodents are cheap freeloaders and lazy animals who shit everywhere and are at the very bottom of the mammal hierarchy. They are perfect food in the wild and in captivity as well.
@9N8X Once again you have misinterpreted what I have said. First off. The channel you are reffering to does more than show animals hunting habits. When they do, this is called the cycle of life. Some individual that has a snake in his home and has to feed it live rabbits or other animals is NOT the same as a wild animal hunting to survive. Snakes are not conventional pets, if they were, then they would be easy to obtain like a rabbit, dog, cat, etc.
True snakes are not conventional pets, but neither are rabbits. Whereas cats and dogs have been living alongside humans since the dawn of time (the ancient Egyptians even had a cat goddess) and dogs can be trained to watch sheep, lead the blind and sniff out illegal drugs, keeping rodents and rabbits as pets is a very modern hobby.
Not even 100 years ago people would laugh their asses of if they heard somebody owns rabbits as pets, rather than breeding them for food.
People watching National Geographic or BBC documentaries about crocs eating gnu's, lions eating gazelles, or any other predator brutally eating another animal, are NOT sick?
Eating live animals is what snakes do. So do any other predator.
Bunnies are stupid and weak. They eat their own feces and are classified as vermin in many parts of the world. For several farmers who survive on what they grow they ARE pests.
Fucking hell this other guy said the same thing. He is right.
What would a snake eat who is somebody's pet? Snakes eat live animals
Take a look at how a stoat kills a rabbit in the wild.It is drawn out and way more brutal than a snake that suffocates it before it starts eating it. A stoat bites the rabbits neck and starts eating it while it's paralyzed and still feeling pain
How about all the people that watch National Geographic documentaries about how lions team up and tear some animal to pieces while it's still alive. Are they sick too?
@McLarenMercedes Wow. Someone sure had a lot of time on their hands to try, and I do mean try, to go toe to toe with me on a subject that was covered about 10 months ago. Well, here we go. First off your feeble attempt to get a rise out of me failed. You can say what ever crazy little thought that's floating in your non intelligent head, and cold hearted body, and it just won't get under my skin. You have your opinion, and from what I read you are rather incorrect on your points.
@McLarenMercedes I am not going to go into a whole lot of detail because I already did that form my past post which you should go back and read. Your attempt to make some kind of arguement with me is just fucking boring. I explain the National Geographic arguement in my past post. READ IT. Now for some Rabbit 101 for you. You only said one thing out of all that rambling bullshit you sent me that was actually true. Rabbits can be destructive towards certain crops. That's part of life. They
@McLarenMercedes They eat vegetation. It's not like farmers have never dealt with rabbits before. It's not some kind of new specie. Rabbits do eat a part of their waste (cecotropes) .Why you ask? I'll tell you why. It's for their digestive tract. Provides nutrients and vitamins. As far as your "tag" on a rabbit of the word rodent. That was false. They are not rodents. They are Lagomorpha. They are closer to being like horses than rats. That's because of their digestive system.
@McLarenMercedes And lastly your claim that they are not smart or make good house pets. Wrong, and wrong. They are intelligent and they can be liter trained just like a cat. They can be trained not to tear up your home also. They do chew, so it all comes down to proper training. Just like any other animal or human for that matter. Now that you have this new knowledge, you can go and crawl your ass back in to what ever hole you came out of and show some love towards the rabbit. ==:}
And here's another herpetological report that explains the role of snakes in controling rodent populations.
h t tp :/ / vivo . cornell . edu /indivi dual /vivo /individual 20 620
Clearly your unnecesary fear and hatred for snakes is based on misinformation and cultural ignorance towards these beutiful creatures of God. If you had any FACTS and REPUTABLE INFORMATION to base your outlandish claims on, then maybe I would be more driven to listening.
I'm gonna go whack oFf in front of Circle K and blast passers-by with my steamy white jizz.. Then I'm gonna put a banana in my asshole. WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP WHOOMP WHOOMP
@Mrtrumphchopper THERE, IN THIS CASE, IS SPELED THEIR. AND IT'S ASS,NOT ASSES. Rabbits have only ONE ASS. Don't attempt to further communicate with me until you pick up a book and learn the English language,ILLITERATE SLOB!!!!!
We found the snake dead this year and its head was very swollen. I wish I had my video camera charged when we saw the large black bird pick its dead body up and carry it away three days later. The birds had a nice meal but they scouted for days before they realized it was really dead and not just kidding.
Wow, you are fucked up. You are hating on an innocent snake because of a decision that nature & evolution made for it to help it survive. It didn't choose to enjoy the taste of, or have the ability to digest rabbit. Either way, why should it care? It's digestible, they reproduce quickly meaning a good food source. Oh, but it's cute, so bloody what, nature doesn't care about "cute". Evolution is based on survival abilities, if you have nothing going for you other than "cute", you're gone.
You have a good point but you have to face it; snakes are the devil! They only eat living things even when its unnecessary; you hear about it all of the time. They've regurgitated baby hippos, enormous aligators, and deer. You don't hear about other wild animals choking on their prey because they're too ambitious, do you?
My domestic rabbit [he lived in the kitchen for 11 years] used to attack cables like that. I always imagined it was an instinct for attacking snakes. A snake down the burrow would be bad news for a cat parent.
It looks to be a Rubber Boa, and corresponding your accent(s) with the reptile's distribution, I believe that is correct. Not "bad-rapping" your video nor claim, just a little F.Y.I. Nature in action!! Nice video.

1. Because they are venomous and unfavorable near urban areas. The same arguement can be made of rodent exterminations.
2. Evolution. Snakes also have a fear of most animals, including humans, which is why they often react on instinct (biting) upon contact.
3. Because of humans' naive fear of snakes. And the story of Adam and Eve is recognized by the Catholic Church as symbolic.
4. Rattlesnake is one species of snake. Most are non-venomous. And they, too, are important aspects of ecosystems.

@five8italian

@five8italian

You have your opinion, and from what I read you are rather incorrect on your points.
five8italian 10 months ago
@McLarenMercedes I am not going to go into a whole lot of detail because I already did that form my past post which you should go back and read. Your attempt to make some kind of arguement with me is just fucking boring. I explain the National Geographic arguement in my past post. READ IT. Now for some Rabbit 101 for you. You only said one thing out of all that rambling bullshit you sent me that was actually true. Rabbits can be destructive towards certain crops. That's part of life. They
five8italian 10 months ago
@McLarenMercedes They eat vegetation. It's not like farmers have never dealt with rabbits before. It's not some kind of new specie. Rabbits do eat a part of their waste (cecotropes) .Why you ask? I'll tell you why. It's for their digestive tract. Provides nutrients and vitamins. As far as your "tag" on a rabbit of the word rodent. That was false. They are not rodents. They are Lagomorpha. They are closer to being like horses than rats. That's because of their digestive system.
five8italian 10 months ago
@McLarenMercedes And lastly your claim that they are not smart or make good house pets. Wrong, and wrong. They are intelligent and they can be liter trained just like a cat. They can be trained not to tear up your home also. They do chew, so it all comes down to proper training. Just like any other animal or human for that matter. Now that you have this new knowledge, you can go and crawl your ass back in to what ever hole you came out of and show some love towards the rabbit. ==:}

And here's another herpetological report that explains the role of snakes in controling rodent populations.

Clearly your unnecesary fear and hatred for snakes is based on misinformation and cultural ignorance towards these beutiful creatures of God. If you had any FACTS and REPUTABLE INFORMATION to base your outlandish claims on, then maybe I would be more driven to listening.

4ourEver 2 years ago
Well according to the owner of the video, apparently the rabbit was just protecting her babies from the snake.
I apologize if my comment offended you, take care.
antiisaacbarbie17 2 years ago 2
You have a good point but you have to face it; snakes are the devil! They only eat living things even when its unnecessary; you hear about it all of the time. They've regurgitated baby hippos, enormous aligators, and deer. You don't hear about other wild animals choking on their prey because they're too ambitious, do you?

My domestic rabbit [he lived in the kitchen for 11 years] used to attack cables like that. I always imagined it was an instinct for attacking snakes. A snake down the burrow would be bad news for a cat parent.
