Thanks for your video, its very helpful! The Zildjian cymbal could be one of the K series, just if you still don't know it. Anyway it sounds great :-) And sorry for my poor English.
The hardest part of this video was the inclusion of the snare. Before I decided to start playing jazz drums, I thought double bass in metal like KsE and All That Remains was hard. Now I know that odd times, ghost notes and swinging is much much harder. Thanks for the video
Primus's Here Come the Bastards is a good slow beat to practice 5/4; if a totally different musical context. But that's never bad. Great lesson, cheers.
Hey, nice job on the lesson! now about your cymbal. look at the logo, find avedis, above the dis there will be a ( for lack of a better word ) a drunk looking u, inside the u look for three dots in a triangle pattern, if you have that your cymbal is a 60's . most guys just call them a 3 dot, it's only on the 60's logo.good luck.
are you using pine tar on your sticks? I've been playing for 12 years and no matter what, new drumsticks will always give me blisters. something about the un-worn quality of the wood... does pine tar help with callouses/blisters, or is it just for grip?
@sometinecool It has been some time since I have really played a lot of jazz. Used to gig a few time a week with a jazz trio but that was about 3 years ago. My jazz chops have suffered the consequences of not using them, but I am starting to practice jazz stuff again and when I get my chops back up I will put some stuff up for you to steal :).
Great lesson, many thanks. Been trying to nail this for years..very clear and helpful lesson..

Hi .. I'm on youtube and I enjoy your video but cannot find the "decsription" to get the transcription... Where is it located.
BTW the HH can also be played on 2,3 and 5.. I've seen joe play it this way.

@kenshireen Right under the thumbs up thumbs down. You might have to click the double down arrow to make the box expand. Let me know if that helps.
