  • what do you do with the brood comb after they have all hatched and do you ever cut this comb off and how often?

  • i wonna ask . how to harvest honey from em ?

  • another great video..nice and clear..must have a good camera....billy

  • Cut the combs off, crush in a bucket, strain with a *new* paint strainer. Voila!

No decapping, no decapping knife, extractor, capping strainer tank, or worry of wax moths over the winter. The quintessential beehive for low tech countries. Don't get fancy when you build one. You could simply take a file draw from a file cabinet and put top bars on it and punch a few exit holes and have a fully working beehive.

  • how do you harvest the honey from a top bar hives-this season will be my first spring w/ bees-and a standard hive, top bars are very interesting to me an i want to have one for the nxt year -are the hard 2 make-guessing not-can you only produce comb honey or do you just pulverize the honey into a strainer- is decapping difficult?-sorry for all the questions

  • @xBARNES187x you harvest honey from TBH by cutting the comb off the fully capped frame leaving about inch for a guide and then place it into a bucket and smash it. Then sift it through a filter. Really easy and simple. There are bucket designs out there that you can also make yourself.
