I read somewhere someone saying that the 5 MBS settings ok but the lowest setting thats 2.5 MBS doesn't produce very high of quality videos. I got the impression you should avoid the lowest setting.
But this is Youtube and it will compress the video anyways. Even in the high quality mode it would still be compressing the video. So why should it matter what setting your using to record with the Pansonic SDR S10.
What quality setting were you using on the camera? 10 MBS or 5 MBS or the low quality setting of 2.5 MBS.
I thought of getting the camera and wondered what setting worked the best. I understand it will all be compressed once posted to youtube but still wonder which setting works best.
I used the highest setting of "XP" - high quality. The rendering of the video file on YouTube does not fairly demonstrate the clarity of the actual video when viewed on a TV or computer.
The setting that your choose really depends on your objective. For applications such as posting to YouTube, the "SP" - normal setting would work fine. Using the "SP" setting (as compared to "XP") also effectively doubles the duration of videos you can store on your memory card.
The actual video quality that is captured by the camcorder is higher than what is reflected on YouTube. With compression there is a definite loss in video quality.
Playback on television or computer is significantly clearer.
thanks for vid.Did you try mp4v3 by microsoft (win movie maker does it as well as windows media encoder with many more options).I have been tinkering with mpeg-2 and windows for awhile, you tube can play that much better than your upload. The highlight for me was the excellent 10x optical zoom you did.
haha this is cool but it does seem dull. i think my Samsung's HMX R10 has better functions!
