You nailed this idiot down...always talking "latino"this&"latino"that, with no respect for differences. Just because she doesn't know(or want to know)her background, she thinks everyone else doesn't know or care.I am from Puerto Rico of Corsican & Basque background&proud of it. To hell with these "latino" idiot sell-outs. So pathetic &sad. Video otherwise was good tribute to my grandfather who was in the Borinqueneers and NOT proud of it.He was such a peaceful intelligent man.
my uncle was in this regiment and he is NOT proud of it...good to make the film to tell their story...too bad these 2 idiots keep on spewing their typical "fulano mengano" latino clap-trap...they are not worthy of the subject. typical American "latino" idiots....sign me authentic puerto rican of European background and will never be a "latino" for these bigots
The reason my father is in a nursing home is because he is on life support systems and we didn't keep him home to have him smoke pipes filled with donkey shit or to feed him condor intestines. BUT that remark on your part speaks to the vicious c*nt that you are y las puercas ilegales que te parrieron. Asqueroso sucio. Jamas viajes a Puerto Rico, indios sucios como tu son bien aparente y te largamos pronto. Puto
Political correctness, cowardly academics and bocones sin principio are not going anywhere but to the end of the PR Day parade shaking their asses & bouncing their titties. This is not Taino either & certainly NOT Puerto Rican, but they scream that it is. So you can fall for the lie or not. On the Island we know better and dont need 3rd rate fake-scholars telling us what we learned in kindergarten. Unfortunately, they werent so lucky. Many were gettingcondor tattoos on their ass
The idiots in NYC, who swear they are Tainos, dont know who their fathers are & are NOT going to tell us on the island who our ancestors are. WE ALREADY have that answer. The sad fact is, that the Taino nation NEVER existed in PR. A few natives running naked on the beach is not exactly the AZTEC nation, nor the INCA. And a few scratches on rocks do not represent a HUGE indigenous population either.
Fake polyester taparrabos & fake suede loin cloths only represent "real" Tainos to fools. There were NO animals in PR to make "suede" from but that doesn't stop the "tainos" from dressing like imitation Hopi or Navajo Indians. WE on the island KNOW this is a sad hoax. If you choose to believe these charlatanes, that is your choice. I AM from Puerto Rico & I know my culture and dont need an illegal Mexican Indian to tell me the history of 4 MILLION people on my island.
The only "Tainos" youve met are from the "Tainos in Oterspace display in Orlando, FL. I don't care how many fake Tainos you have met. I met the Easter Bunny when I was 5, but I have grown up and dont believe those benign lies. Isn't it odd that all the Tainos come from the caserios of the Bronx? This is a JOKE! These fakes wouldn't know indigenous culture if they stepped in it. My daughters pony has a pony tail. Does that make it a Taino?
You are the classic indio acomplejado.
My father was in this regiment and is still alive in a nursing home and he and I have discussed this with him many times and he has many stories about he left his little town to take a ship to the States. As a White Puerto Rican, his experience was very different from Black or mixed Puerto Ricans and I have a short story written about his experience...Contact me Raquel...
Excellent story,EXCEPT for Evelyn Reyes' REPEATED use of the word "latino".For Christ' SAKE! Raquel Ortiz is talking about a PUERTO RICAN REGIMENT from PUERTO RICO!Is she so f**king brainwashed in her brainless "latino" nonsense that for even 5minutes she just can't let go of her "latino" parrot-speak.Que pendeja.Great project, but AWFUL interview.Una"latina-payasa" hablando mierda que jamas va entender.Mandenla al zoo para que entreviste los pinquinos "latinos" de Patagonia. Que bochorno!
porta, thank you for your very true commentary, unfortunately the American media is obsessed with "latino" stereo-types so idiots like these just rise to the top of the media toilet...time for a good flush.
As a former Marine rifleman of Puerto Rican extraction, but raised in the US this is a good film, but unfortunately the Puerto Rican youth today living on the'Island'are not taught to be patriotic to the savoriegn nation the USA. There's a rise in the acadamia on the Island to blame the US for all their internal problems i.e. political corruption.
True, but then again puerto ricans have been serving in the armed forces in high numbers since 1917, without the right to vote and still alot of americans snub puerto ricans and still see us as foregners. Dont get me wrong i admire the puerto ricans who serve, but why serve if we're going to be ignored for our accomplishments, and treated as second class citizens on the island.
I disagree with you, I was raised in the US, went to college in puerto rico and I have noticed is that the puerto ricans that live on the island are greatful for being american, but also know that they are Latin first and american 2nd and that is proven when they are sent to wars by presidents they are not able to even vote for. look up PNP which is a political party of puerto rico that are pro-statehood that is supported by about 50% of the island learn YOUR history papa!
Yet the Puerto ricans on the island dont really see how much their snub or how many people looked down on puerto ricans for what ever misconceptions they have. If puerto rico becomes the 51 State, they will find out first hand how the united states looks down on them. Look at how they treat Puerto rican veterans. I know latin american history and P.r history and believe me, its fill with many terorist acts. Plus since i believe usa is babylon the great. Our association scares me.
Many people on the island fear independence, yet they should fear more is statehood. When asked about the U.S, people still leave Hawaii and Alaska out. They are still seen as foreigners. I have lived in the U.S for many years and I'm still seen as a foreigner. I have had to endure racial discrimination and prejudice because I am PuertoRican. We will never be accepted by the Americans therefore its time we take charge of our own destiny and leave the U.S to the Americans and P.R to the Boricuas.
I agree, No self repecting Puerto rican would want his island to be absorb by another distinct civilization. I agree on the commonwealth status, with some reforms like equality for our veterans who fight bravely. Independence does scare me because puerto rico doesnt have abundant resources and everyone claims if we are independent we would end up like another santo domingo. (I feel if we keep letting dominican enter our island, we'll end up a 2nd santo domingo, be scared of that the most)....
I grew up in Utuado and Lares and whenever I needed Platanos, Coco, Panas, and anything else that needed to grow, all I had to do was reach out my window. I never understood why PR has to import all these things from RD, or Colombia, or the US if we have all these things already. Importing these products costs money. Our resources lie in agriculture. Also, PR used to be one of the biggest pharmaceutical exporters in the world, but since the US imposed their taxes, many of the companies left.
Puerto rico imports these things because people dont want to work that way anymore. Puerto rico has been corrupted, no longer are there real jibaros who grow and distribute foods and etc. Everything is by money and some people whould rather not work at all then work in a so called degrading profession that pays nothing. which is why puerto rico brings starving dominicans to pick our crops. As far as agriculture its been ruined by big business.
Everyone fears independance, thats why most people dont vote for it. Life is all about chances and taking risks. The US was a British colony and now the US pretty much rules the world. Puerto Rico will never be as powerful as the US which is a good thing. Power is only used to spread imperialism around the world and power corrupts. We also have to wonder why la Republica's economy has tripled since 1990's and PR's has stayed the same. ELA is alright but I believe a Libre Asociación is better.
A part of me wishes we were still an oversea province of spain, like we were before the Usa stripped us of that right. Puerto rico is a small island and islands cant support themselves if they have a large population. Islands will always need protection whether indirectly( puppet government of latin america) or directly( usa to puerto rico).
I think that the collapse of the Spanish Empire was inevitable. Spain commited autrocities in PR that are still visible. PR was in the process of independence when the Americans invaded. Alot of people thought the US would make PR a state and fix all the problems but they never did and never will. PR does need protection, that is why I believe Libre Asociación is the best solution. We also have to fix our way of life so we dont have to rely on imports from other countries.
Puerto Rico was on its way to autonomy while keeping an association with the Spanish motherland. Kind of like the current commonwealth status. In my opinion that was the best choice but fate had something diffrent. I know that spain commited many sins against latin america but all in all its the mother country. I believed the culture would have flowered beautifully if it remained as a province of spain.
I have to respectfully disagree. We are taught to be loyal amongst ourselves and our country (Puerto Rico). Colonial status is only a geopolitical association that has nothing to do with our way of life. To most Boricuas on the island, American citizenship is just a 9 digit number on a Social Security Card. Why should I be loyal and patriotic to a country that is not mine nor has done anything for me nor I for it? Regardless, I do respect and honor that sacrifices you have made for your country.
The US Army 7th Division, 31st Regimental Combat Team stopped 2 chinese divisions in 4 days, then fought as the rear guard for the Marines at Chosin Reservoir. They won a Navy Presidential Unit Citation.
