  • Shouldn't you put safety shoes under the door?

  • American Airlines is hiring, just not ground crew but bankruptcy lawyers...

  • THe way forward is to not be critical towards people for making a mistake like this. People in life are often persecuted far to harshly for mistakes that anybody could make.

  • lol

  • Please refer to "Pilots in poo poo"

  • my right ear enjoyed the video

  • Iv seen a jet bridge lift a 747 before ripping the door off.

  • I can just see it now, the handset starts ringing and the stewardess picks it up "How are you enjoying your first day, Jessica?" "Oh, I'm loving it, Kelly! Quick question, the door just ripped off the plane, now thats not normal is it?"

"Oh, so that's what all that noise was! I thought you'd crashed the trolley again!"

"Nope! Havent done that again! So what about the door?" "Oh no honey, that's not normal!"

"Oh, I didn't think so! Never mind!"

    "Bye Bye!"

  • LMAO

  • YOU ARE FIRED!!!!

  • i was on a 77 once and when the doors closed everybody in the aircraft felt the cabin pressurise. Is normal for the cabin to pressurise on the ground when the doors close even if only slightly? It was not very nice seeing a row of more than several peoples heads jolt. Everybody on the aircraft felt the pressure and you could see there heads move in reaction to the cabin pressure.

  • Coincidentally enough, the 777 doors were designed for this: while being plug-type doors, they're "translating" doors with a different hinge mechanism so that if the door should be torn off (namely by jetbridge accident) the rest of the aircraft should not suffer damage, thereby making repairs easier and less costly.

  • @slopegeek Looks like there was actual damage to aircraft skin in one picture

  • @Neanderthalmanny Maybe there was, but that's a less involved repair than if the door frame or other supporting structures were damaged. This is all speculative since, AFAIK, we don't know the actual details of the damage to the plane. Would be interesting to find out.

  • They said chocks weren't on and well, the old dude said so they didn't placed them. BUT, chocks aren't everything! Once saw a 737 roll forward AND jump the chocks at the airport I work...

  • Bah..seen it already twice at my airport. gotta put the chocks in before the bridge is on, and as well with tow crews towing planes to gate..gotta do the same thing!! That plane will slide back.

  • Possible malfunction with the braking system perhaps?

  • The crew completed the parking checklist (parking brakes were set) and was preparing to exit the aircraft when they were notified that the aircraft was rolling backwards. The Captain quickly returned to his seat and applied brakes. The first application reportedly had little resistance and did not slow the aircraft. His second application had no resistance with pedals fully depressed. The aircraft continued to roll aft into the middle of the ramp.

  • @contrail777

Did the Crew get shown the door AKA Fired?

  • I can just see the memo going out about a new checklist.

  • i can sum this up in one word. FAIL.

  • sorry.....this was my fault.....

i was taking my doughnut break when the plane came in.........

  • Wow, good thing that no people was injured. I would pick damage to the aircraft or jet-bridge over injuries.

  • Ok. That makes no sense at all. The plane wasnt chalked at the wheels? ok...

  • Jezz... that's crazy.

  • scary...(i wouldn't want to be on that plane...!!!)
