Thank you for sharing "Where are You"

No music like the music from back in the day! xxxx

  • Amen on "what a difference a day makes but i like this better

  • Irreplaceable, inimitable, just the greatest ever and ever to be!

Among several others, I owe my musical aspirations from a very early age to Miss Washington.

The high-quality audio and your illustration of this program's lyrics through your brilliant montage makes this a great posting.

    Thank you and be well.

  • @Neptunesque

Hey thank you very much. I appreciate that.

    Harry

  • Loved this song since I heard it over 50 years ago. Loved Dinah ever since. Sheer quality.

  • @sadoldemilio

    Thank you.

  • She had so much personality in her voice!

  • Hwaj5300: Besides this recording being a unique gem of DW, you did a great job with the video presentation/picture compilation. Thanks for sharing!

  • Class Act. My all time favorite. Thanks Mom for introducing me to

Ms. Washingtons voice when I was 9 years old.

  • The last time I heard this was when I was about 16. - A long time ago - but it is still as wonderful now as it was then. The haunting refrain is sung perfectly by a very fine artist.

  • I agree:

"When you listen to Dinah, you don't need any other singer"...

    Tom Bom

    from Sao Paulo/SP, Brasil

  • There's Dinah and then there's a long line of other sings. When you listen to Dinah, you don't need any other singer. Truthfully. Simply THE best.

  • that's it.

    Hwaj5300

  • Thank you hwaj5300 I loved this! I heard in some documentary that Dinah thought she was fat and unattractive. How is that possible? She was as cute as a bug and had a nice figure...For sure, she left us a marvelous recorded legacy.

  • Your most welcome

    Hwaj5300

  • Where's my heart?

  • I really can see now why Aretha recorded a version of this song...Dinah turned it out and that male chorus was perfect behind her!!..Is this a Clyde Otis produced tracks??

  • not sure of who produced each track on this compilation of her Roulette recordings but the whole thing was produced by "Norman Bates"

  • It really doesn't get any better than this. Heavenly..Thank you hwaj5300 , thaks so much

  • You are very welcome

    and of course I agree

  • Brings tears to my eyes, So beautiful

  • When I gave you my love, was it all in vain?

    Must I go on pretending,

    Where is my happy ending?

  • heavy is it not

  • You're very welcome

  • I love the use of the Hammond B3 Electric Organ in the Orchestra. Really rounds out the Back up Orchestra, for her. Is this a Mercury recording?

  • sorry 78

  • One of my most favorite songs. Written in 1934,featured by Broadway Singer, Gertude Niessen. The favorite song of Ira Hayes (USMC- WWII - Hero, One of the Marines raising the American Flag at Iwo Jima color film. He became the sole surviving Marine, as the other comrades went into battle and were killed in action by the Japanese within minutes of the filming of the raising of our flag at Iwo Jima. I sing the Sinatra version (Gordon Jenkins arrangement at karaoke.

  • Harry thank you... another gteat song. One

major question- just what led to her untimely

passing ( two weeks after JFK )?

  • I believe it was from an over dose, accidental if I remember correctly.
