We need McCain? Right... Should've thought of that 4 and 8 years ago. His time for presidency passed long ago. He can still be beneficial to this country, but let's hope that biased and unbalanced opinions like yours don't hold him back.
All Republicans care about is their money, they don't give a shit about helping people less fortunate or helping the environment. I hope all you Republican bastards rot in hell.
republicans must vote republican, democrats must vote democrat.this is crazy.this is not the super bowl, and they are not sport teams.our lives are at stake here.intelligently vote for who will do the least damage to us.
Exactly! Im sick of this bs, weve got to vote for the third party that Dr. Paul endorses, that way, the third party will get about 20% vote, which will enable him to get into the debates. The reason why I say the one Dr. Paul endorses... is it properly organizes all of us... plus Ron was the only one who talked about the issues.
ATTENTION: Apparently chevron oil (corrupt American oil company) bought the rights to NiMH battery technology so they could prevent auto manufacturers from using it to build more efficient hybrid vehicles and force us to keep buying gasoline. Wanna read an article about just how corrupt big oil companies are? Google this and read the article: Did Citco Oil really buy an electric Car battery only to destroy it?
I hope Americans wake up, and realize they have been conned and tricked by people like Bush and McCain. McCain doesn't care if your child needs a heart operation. He is against universal health care. He is married to a rich heiress, and the taxpayers pay for his health care. The Neo-Con Republicans just want to make billionaires even richer, at the expense of everyone else. They lied to start phony wars. They looted the Treasury. Tortured POW's and shredded the Constitution. Economy is terrible.
McBush is a heartless moron. If your gonna have a country filled with selfish, ignorant citizens, your gonna get selfish, ignorant leaders. The term limits arent going to do any good. Your just gonna end up with a bunch of selfish, ignorant Americans.
People are suffering with the high price of gas, food prices are going up because the stores have to pay for shipping, people are losing their homes, banks are having trouble,
as far as the Democrats getting control of Congress, we are funding our enemies over seas because the more money we send over seas to countries that hate us the more they will be able to buy weapons to use against us. We have to start being independent on making our own supplies of gas and oil.
Well, let me tell you, without gas you will not be able to drive those hybrid cars because the gas engine charges the hybrid engines, some people can't change over to complete electric to heat their homes, people don't have the money to buy windmills, put up solar shingles on their roofs, they don't have the money to buy solar panels.
I'm glad someone is standing up for us and trying to do something about the gas prices, I wish I could go on a vacation, can't afford to. If the Democrats don't do something in September the American people should park their cars for one day and not buy any gas, so how that might lower the gas prices and see how the Democrat like that.
"Will maintaining proper tire pressures make a huge difference in the enormous amount of oil we import? No. But it can make a dent, albeit a very small one. " Aug 7, 2008 Popular mechanics.
They are said by the MSM to gain seats. Why would even democrats vote for them. The first thing Pigosi said was 'no impeachment' for Bush... Hahahahaa!
it doesn't matter one bit which party is responsible for the energy crisis. the fact is we CAN SOLVE the crisis simply by drilling for American oil on American soil.
So DEMAND that your own oil be drilled for, so you DON'T HAVE TO BUY OIL FROM FOREIGN NATIONS.
repubs and dems have both been on the correct and the wrong sides of this issue. it doesn't matter. it an American problem, not a partisan one.
the solution is clear: drill for you own resources
Democrats ARE responsible for BLOCKING any legislation that allowed for not only offshore drilling but also new nuclear power generation and new refinery capacity. So, YES HOUSE DEMOCRATS F*CKED US JUST LIKE THEY ARE RIGHT NOW!
the democrat's actions that day show what a bunch of whiney assholes they are because they didn't get a democrat in office for these last 8 years. i hated bill clinton and i think he screwed us on a lot of these isssues, but i don't whine about it all day, i don't make America look bad by denouncing our top elected official. i hope the democrats enjoy their vacation away from solving our problems.. but that's all they've done for the last decade.
Obongo told somebody what they could do to save gas was inflate their tires and he didn't say 'ride a bike and save the environment as well' ? Who does this bullshitter think he is bullshitting anyways? You can vote for this moron, but you'll regret it! LOL!
By the way, the minority party is standing up for the people. That is not even close to being news. If the majority party does it, however, that is the shout heard round the world.
You neglect to mention that the minority party became the minority because they had EIGHT FUCKING YEARS to do something and they didn't. They screwed us all over.
Even if drilling is allowed who says there'll be drilling? Right now the oil companies are making billions. Why would they drive their own profits down by putting more oil on the market?
Good lord you're dumb. You need to really think about the energy strategies you're proposing before you mouth them off to people with a better grasp on the subject. I suppose you'll just use your magical liberal unicorn wands and turn all our cars into hydrogen fuel cell (the energy used to create that hydrogen from water often comes from either coal fired or nuclear fired power plants) and electric vehicles.
Where are you going to put all those batteries anyway? What happens when they die? Shall we put them in landfills to leak batter acid for future generations to enjoy in their ground water?
LOL! Wind farms that need coal or nuclear energy to back them up b/c they only run at 17% of their maximum capacity (i.e. the amount of energy they'd produce if you lived in LaLa land and the wind blew there all the time). You're more than a bit retarded if you think current battery technology would make it cost effective and efficient to store all that energy for use later.
God are you dense. What part of MULTIPLE FORMS OF ENERGY DO YOU NOT GET? So focused on parroting Exxon's talking point.... drill drill drill. The only form of energy is OIL in your mind. Just admit you're a whore for OIL, admission is the first step to recovery. WE NEED MULTIPLE FORMS OF ENERGY, WIND, SOLAR, OIL, and even NUCLEAR ...Now go back to your pimp and shut up.
Dems like me support drilling to only if the following conditions are meant: the oil stays here. Drilling begins in a certain amount of time or the lease is revoked without a refund. If one the crew screws up one the rig don't raise our prices lower the crews salary. And personally, i think they should only hire only American workers to the rigs.
ANWR oil mostly certainly will go to those countries as well as to Alaskans and Canadians and perhaps Russians but it's still jobs for Americans and tax revenue for our government.
and as an aside, exxon mobile paid record high taxes of $30 billion in 2007 and on average pays $27 million per year in taxes. the tax rate for the bottom 50% of wage earners is only 3% of adjusted gross income, while exxon's tax rate is 41%. yet obama wants oil companies to 'give' $1000 to taxpayers? he's a socialist.
this is all hyperbole on the part of the republicanas. why didn't the republicans formulate an energy plan? until recently, they controlled the white house, congress and senate yet wasted their time doing god knows what. now they're grandstanding.
Oil companies have no intention of flooding the market with product therefore driving down their profits. What business would? A few select companies control all our supply. There is no real competition and rampant price fixing. This is not free market capatalism its corporate socialism. As Buckskin said, its a land grab. Low cost option on land to hold until product price makes it feasible and profitable to invest in drilling.
I think this is absolutely awsome. Pelosi is way too out of touch with what you and I are experiencing at the pump. Could be because she's from California where the cost of living is outrageously high and gas prices seem like such a small part of it but here in Oklahoma, anything over $2 is too much. I hope here constituents string her up.
As to that land grab of which you speak it is actually land leasing that occurs and for those land leases many land owning Americans are very well paid. Oil and gas companies don't own the land they're "grabbing" they just lease the mineral rights. Oil execs aren't going to be building their mansions on those lands.
Oil companies are still making out like bandits. WE GIVE GOVERNMENT LEASED land to them for FREE and they are making 10.00 MORE per barrel and they don't have to sell the OIL to us.
NOTICE how you will never address HOW ITS SO MUCH MORE BENEFICIAL to the OIL companies compared to the consumer.
Complete BS. They pay to lease government just as they pay to lease private lands. Someone always benefits. It's either the private land owner or the entire federal government. It's not a matter of who they have to sell it to it's a matter of demand and transportation costs. The oil companies aren't going to pay billions of dollars to ship all that oil right off our coastline all the way to China or Japan.
Your idiocy is more than apparent in your attempts to link $4.00/gallon gasoline in America to the supply of oil from Iraq (which made over $70 billion in oil revenue last year according to EIA and the Wall Street Journal and which only contributes a small portion to both the domestic and global oil supply). Iraq has a minimal effect on global oil prices at best.
If our leaders really wanted to invade a country to steal it's natural resources and line their pockets it would have been a hell of a lot more lucrative for them and a hell of a lot less expensive (in terms of monetary costs, lives lost, and political good will) for them to invade a more easily conquerable country with more natural resources like Canada.
But, just doing that is not going to make much difference at the pumps for Americans. Oil companies will make a lot of money and taxes will be paid, but it is not going reduce our need for foreign oil.
Doing everything not just offshore oil drilling is what we want. Raising fuel economy standards and creating more hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (where the electricity and hydrogen generated comes from sources like nuclear power or coal), using coal to liquid technology and improving clean coal technology (we have tremendous coal reserves in this country), cont.
using natural gas instead of heating oil in the north during the winter months, using nuclear energy and recycling the spent fuel, installing wind turbines and solar panels where feasible and funding improvements in those technologies that will allow us to tap high altitude wind currents, upper atmosphere solar rays, and ocean currents, cont.
and drilling for our own oil right off of our own continental shelf will not end our use of foreign oil but they will most certainly dramatically reduce our dependence upon it. That is what we are calling for. All of the above.
Irony of all this. Sadaam was dumping oil in the market to keep the price of oil low...to piss off the oil companies. They get rid of Sadaam, wink wink (Cheney's energy meetings)...price of oil goes up from 1.65 to 4.00 in 8 years and Big OIL makes out like bandits. Now they are trying to use the 4.00 gas prices to get a land grab. Brilliant from their end. Average American to stupid to know they are being hoodwinked YET again.
The whole "America invaded Iraq to steal their oil and drive up the price" line is complete BS. If you had any proof to back up your BS claims Bush and Cheney would have already been impeached. You don't therefore they haven't been.
If there weren't so many stupid whiny losers like you all over the world we might have actually done something about the tragic situations in Sudan and Zimbabwe. But no, instead of standing with us too many people choose instead to call those who would stand up to an evil despot like Saddam, despots themselves that wage war for profit. What president in his right mind would choose to act again without world support after seeing the reaction he got to eliminating the last dictator.
we still need some oil for certain things. I don't think we'll ever be in a position where we don't need any oil. The little bit that we will need (after the move to solar, wind, etc.) should be taken from our own land though. That way we don't have to fight over oil in other countries.
Really, the people that say "don't drill here - drill over there" are really saying "don't use our oil - use theirs" which is why we are in this pickle in the first place.
Where in the pickle because the Oil companies killed alternative forms of energy for cars in the 70s i.e. electric car and cafe standards.
Look at Pickens plan. 20% of Electrical power is generated by Natural gas, if you can replace that with wind power, and transfer the Natural gas toward transportation, you'll have a cleaner fuel thats better for environment. People who say drill drill drill, just want to transfer Saudi money to Exonn coffers. How much does the consumer gain vs. Big Oil?
The only way you will decrease Oil prices for the consumer is to find an alternative fuel to give OIL competition. Flood the market with natual gas cars....price of oil will plummet. BIG OIL DOES NOT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN. This repub scam is a land grab to make Big OIL rich beyond their imagination, while giving us .02/gallon after 10 years.
Is a BMW the Dem. car of choice? That explains why the auto industry is in the toilet. It could have something to do with the SUV flood over the last 20 years, but the guy who drives a foreign car is the biggest contributor to the fall of the American auto industry. You think the Germans have a Dem mentality? Think again. Why don't you go shop at Walmart and then wonder why America is in a recession? Could it be less and less American jobs because you don't buy American?
Blame the guy who doesn't want to buy crap. Yeah we are to blame. Not the Repub/Execs who want to pass off piss poor quality goods on the consumer. GET A CLUE. You wonder why foreign companies, like toyota, bmw, honda do well in America....because they give a product worth buying. They are not scheming how to cut corners and think the buyers are stupid saps. MOST GM cars are built in Mexico or Canada, maybe I should buy a honda MADE IN AMERICA TO SATISFY YOU.
So Americans sell crap?! You need to move to a new country. Wasn't the Chevy Malibu the 2008 car of the year? The idea that America makes crap was born in the 80's and has never left. That is not true anymore. Our cars are as good as any other car produced. Your un-patriotic buying habits are the reason why the economy sucks. So yeah, I am blaming you.
How many American cars were in the top 10 listing of cars for the past 10 years? Mikey want to provide information this time???????? My brother had to replace his transmission to a brand new FORD. Stop trying to be oblivious to the problems that American car companies have faced in terms of Quality. They have slowly been improving. Malibu is a car now (2008) worthy to buy.
Who are these experts that say $.02/10 years? When oil companies lease land they pay the owner of the land $. If you drill in America Americans own the land. Do the math! The # of oil rigs has declined thanks to the Dems. "Don't Kill the Environment!" There are ways to drill environmentally friendly. PROVIDE THE DATA!
1. EIA (Energy Information Administration) May 2008 report responds to a request from Ted Stevens to assess of Federal oil and natural gas leasing in the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) in Alaska.
2. The last part made NO sense whatsoever. Dems don't have control over the number of Oil rigs, there literally isn't enough equipment to drill. OIL RIGS look it up not OIL refineries.
1. Web site! Give us a web site! I'm not going to Goggle all night.
2. OK whatever. My point is Dems have made it harder to do anything with the land. If I move a rock I now need a permit. What is wrong with this picture?
LoL, you lost that point and you know it. I gave you the date of the report, the senator who requested the information, and the information from the report, but you still plead ignorance.
99% of cars in America are powered by oil/gas. If you stopped all production of all cars in America today, re-tooled, and built them to be powered with alternative fuels it would take at least 10 years for that chosen alt. fuel to become the dominate fuel. I am not arguing the fact that we need alt. fuel, but the change is not going to happen over night. We live in the oil age, play the hand you have now and hope in the next 10 years oil will be obsolete. Right now we do not have that luxury.
Do you drive to work? Well, an oil company is responsible for the gas in your car, and a Republican both designed your car and owns the company that gave you employment. So in retrospect, I'd say oil companies and Republicans help a lot more than the Eco-marxist left does...
I drive a bmw. So I can thank BMW for my car not republicans who single handedly drove GM toward bankruptcy, building gas guzzling Hummers. If you want to sell your soul for any commodity that you don't make go ahead. Sell your soul to the electric or water company too while your at it. Maybe the oil execs can pork your wife too because your so beholden to them.
alternative fuels are mediocre at best, who doesn't want to preserve the world for future generations, but if it takes 1000 acres of solar panels to light up 10000 homes not including maintenance, wear and tear of the panels then your doomed. Nuclear power, which by the way many of you libs automatically do not do the research on is a better way to go. France has enough energy to last for almost 7 years just on the spent energy, that is supposedly the "nuclear waste" which is 98% reusable
You state ONE alternative energy source not source(s), then state its cons and none of its pros. Obama and even Mccain have stated it would take multiple energy sources to solve the US ENERGY problem. It seems the GOP is fixated on Nuclear or OIL. Both of which can cause drastic consequences to the environment and humans. Choice between Increasing global warming, more hurricanes, unusual temperatures or live next to a nuclear waste dump, while radioactive material seep into the ground water.
Homeloan scandals, Iraq War, 10 trillion dollar debt, 900 bill trade deficit with China, devaluation of the dollar, 2 recessions, high gas prices, record unemployment, Major banking instiutions going bankrupt........I'm sitting here thinking Repubs can offer so much more ..............................................................
Well, the Iraq war was supported by Democrats before they were against it. It's hilarious how the media has led people to believe that it is Bush's war.
He'll soak the rich so there will be less capital available for rich people to put at risk and form new businesses that employ numerous people. The wealthy will cut jobs to try and improve their bottom line which will have shrunk due to all that extra tax revenue going out the window.
Roonalwazlib seems to make sense, unlike KoroOutbreak. I can see the next comment now, "You dumb douchbag Republican...". Why wouldn't you want energy independence? Why would you want to fund the Middle East with all their wealth. If we stop buying Middle Eastern oil their stronghold on the world economy becomes void. No money = no weapons = no war. Don't you understand buying American products create American jobs? Oil could be an Ameican product!
If Republicans are the party of fiscal irresponsibility then Democrats are the party of fiscal disaster. You'll shrink the tax base and add trillions of dollars in new spending. That won't actually bankrupt the country at all now will it? As for plugging of the ears I think that's strictly the domain of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and anyone who's still supporting them at this point. They refuse to compromise or allow even allow a vote on the issue.
Omg ... snap out of La La land, the American public is not asking you of all people to forecast things to come, BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT IT. i.e Iraq, Economy. Democrats will actually HELP the tax base by helping the middle class, secure stable jobs here in America i.e. 1990's. Unlike republicans who would sell their mother for a buck i.e. CAFTA, NAFTA, trade with china. The country is pretty close to being bankrupt since Bush has been in office i.e. 10 trillion dollar from 4.5 trillion.
LMAO! The tax base as a whole not the bottom one third of taxpayers is what I was referring to. Obama's policies will most certainly shrink the tax base and turn our country (even more so than it already is) into a nation of two classes (i.e. the tax payers and the tax consumers). At the same time he'll see us all standing in line for a doctors visit while the trillions of dollars in universal healthcare costs are added to the national debt.
Your argument: Trickle down economics will save us from a 2 class system? ITS THE VERY DEFINITION of a TWO class system. The haves get more an the have nots are out of luck.
When you ship millions of jobs over seas by promoting NAFTA, CAFTA, and other trade deals, THE TAX BASE WILL SHRINK, sherlock. Bush has done very little to replace those jobs. Obama will provide relief by decreasing the tax burden on the middle class.
And to top it all off he'll veto free trade deals and make us a protectionist country (after all it worked out so well for Herbert Hoover didn't it?) So that those foreign imports douchebags like Bucksin07 so loves will sharply increase in price and we'll probably get involved in economy damaging trade wars with countries like Japan and China. He'll do that even though exports are one of the few areas where our economy continues to remain strong.
Don't expect that to continue with a protectionist president. Oh yeah and his protectionism combined with his higher corporate taxes will make foreign companies far less inclined to invest in expanding their businesses to America. Maybe it's you who should snap out of Lala land. As for me I'm perfectly happy being well grounded in the La. La. land that is my home state of Louisiana (the one the rest of the country has been happy to suck dry of it's oil for decades now).
Please elaborate on how democrats will help the middle class secure stable jobs when for example businesses are leaving California because of exactly what Democrats are doing here, they are making it impossible for businesses to thrive in the free market. You are an economic idiot when it comes to policies, please keep talking smack and get over your ideology. Grow up.
1. 150 Billion invested in alternative fuels, This will utilize American ingenuity and form millions of new jobs, while also getting us off the addiction of OIL.
2. 60 billion invested into the Infrastructure....will also create new jobs.
3. Tax incentives for businesses that stay in America, and tax companies that want ship jobs out of America.
The only idiot that I see is the one who wants to continue BUSH's suicidal economic policies. Pick a number how much more in debt you want us to be.
Most of the republicans forgot why they got voted into power. They got this mentality of "if we just bring home MORE pork we will get reelected." Either republicans elect more conservatives or they can be a minority party forever as far as I'm concerned. I would rather eat my money than send any more of it to the federal gov. If Obama wins look for an energy policy of:
We should have let the banks fail, causing the 2nd great depression as everyone streams into the banks to take all money out. Leaving the tax payers to pick up the tab for FDIC. We are not in a recession, but we could slip into one if we elect someone who would raise capital gains tax. Bush hasn't been great with his weak dollar policy, but Barack would "raise the capital gains tax only for the rich." If you don't get the joke, Obama is for you.
First you state the government shouldn't have intervened (CONSERVATIVE princpals), basically advocating a Depression,...then you predict (Your track record isn't great) that if Obama raises capital gains tax like Clinton did in the 1990's...(a time of economic prosperity) ...a recession will occur. Note: A depression is worse than a recession. Have you ever thought about being a clown as a profession? Forget politics or the economy, its not for you.
Did you make it out of grade school? I tried to be civil and have a conversation, but you seem beyond that. Conservative princpals? Either you had a school leader in mind or the principal is your pal lesson missed you. Your "time of economic" prosperity had nothing to do with B.J. Clinton. Look at history it started AFTER Republicans took the congress.
Post grad education. You? Let me guess. Probably, flunked out of college and now you're trying to hit the lotto buy working for an oil company, at America's expense.
Let's look at history, Bill Clinton (rhode's scholar, graduated with honors from Georgetown and Yale) 2 term president. A time of economic prosperity inspite of a Repub congress, obsessed with BJ
BUSH? with a republican congress? LoL can't wait for YOU to take ALL THE CREDIT FOR THIS MESS. Probably pass the buck on this one too.
So your plan is to have us borrow more from China to fund more government jobs to work on technology that won't help us for decades? How about we just squeeze oil out of liberals for the rest of us to use. I won't be in favor of any solutions that doesn't involve the government getting out of the way of capitalism. Allow the free market to choose the winner of the race for the next energy source, not ANY government.
1. If we get out of Iraq the US doesn't have to borrow BILLIONS from China.
2. Investment in new technology and infrastructure keeps money here at home.
3. If free market supposedly solves everything, explain why the economy under 7+ years of Bush and the republicans is doing so poorly.
4. We live in a mixed economy. If you hate government so much ...don't use the roads, postal service or any of the services government gives to its citizens.
And do try not pulling crap out of your ass and presenting it as the truth next time. The oil and gas companies pay and will continue to pay billions upon billions of dollars to lease the necessary land and drill for oil and gas upon it. That's part of their overhead costs not a taxpayer burden and it creates thousands of jobs for Americans who then pay taxes rather than being a drain on the tax base like all the socialist reforms Democrats want to put in place.
With a liberal douchebag like Obama in office and dictating American energy policy you can expect our dependence on foreign oil to go up, more bad decisions like turning corn into ethanol biofuel (which has raised food prices and kills people in poorer countries that can't afford to pay more for food), our national security to decline, and energy prices to sky rocket. So yes it is only going to get worse with douchebags like yourself running the show.
Alternative fuels... SOLAR, WIND, NUCLEAR, BIO.....stop parroting BIG OIL's talking points.
THEY DON"T WANT ALTERNATIVE FUELS BECAUSE IT CUTS into their profits. THEY HAVE A strangle hold on the US. You are like freakin addict that doesn't have a clue you are addicted.
LOL! You're so stupid it's palpable. Ethanol biofuel is one of the reasons for the recent hike in global food prices and has already killed people in poorer countries like Zimbabwe and Myanmar. Solar energy has the pesky little problems of cloud cover and the rotation of the earth to deal with. The wind doesn't blow 24/7. Stop parroting Al Gores talking point and do some damn research yourself. By the way how many carbon credits have lined Al Gore's pockets with today?
"You're so stupid its papable," said the MCbush supporter.
Who in their right mind should be listening to you after your LONG history of bad decisions? The only innovations you've made is finding new ways tO RIP off Americans. The NEW drill drill drill for OIL another new scheme, that will offer the CONSUMER NOTHING more than pennies.
Cloud cover in the desert? parts of Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico. You can store the energy, simpleton.
There are wind farms NOW all over Iowa, ND, Montana.
In actuality it will take 5 years or less. Now compare that to the 20+ years it will take to get unreliable highly expensive renewable energy resources online and providing for a majority of our energy needs. Backup sources of energy (i.e. coal or nuclear) are always needed to prevent power interruptions when renewable sources are used. Not to mention that in states where renewable energy use is highest (i.e. Texas and California) home energy prices are at there greatest.
Feels like Pre-Iraq war deja vu, while you inflate the stats to push your agenda. it will TAKE 10 years and the net gain from the consumer will be Minimal.
When are you people going to get your heads out of the sand and see that Democrats AND Republicans have BOTH messed up this country. Obama the paper-thin speech machine and doddering-old McCain are only going to bring more of the same. We need another party (I'd vote for anybody running under the "99cent a gallon" party!)
You're laughably uninformed. The current energy crisis is the result of the one two combination of increased global demand (i.e. from India and China) and the repeated blockades by Democrats to pursuing our own domestic natural resources. No new nuclear power plants (or the spent fuel recycling that goes on within them), no new coal fired plants (or development of clean coal or coal to liquid technology), and no new offshore drilling or refineries. So whose fault is all this really.
Drilling the oil will knock about 5 cents off a gallon, and not for another 10 years. Also, since the taxpayers are going to pay for the drilling (read the fine print, you perennially gullible republican douche bags) you will actually end up paying MORE FOR OIL than you do now. But of course, it feels a lot better just to plug your ears and scream the way you've been doing for the past thirty ears. Keep getting red in the face, it's only going to get worse.
It's the environmentalist screamings of douchebags like yourself that have put us in this current energy pickle. You moonbats just can't seem to understand the law of supply and demand can you. Just like you can't understand that it's not just about energy price but about national security and not sending billions of dollars to prop up the governments of countries that hate us. You douchebags keep screaming about it taking 10 years but you were saying that 10 years ago.
"The current energy pickle." HAHAHA. No. "Moonbat." I smell a Rush Limbaugh (junkie) listener! Don't you have the ability to read or think for yourself? Take a visit to the conservative libertarian Cato Institute online and do a little research. Some of the words might be a little too big for you, but stick with it and you might understand and you are being screwed over from every direction imaginable. Yes, that includes yer tight little poopoo\pickle hole.
Clearly you have no respect for those with a different political philosophy either. I'm so sick of you whiny global warming environmentalist nutcases. All you can say is, "The sky is falling, the sky is falling and it's all the fault of the Republicans and the corporations, man!", while you worship Al Gore and send him your carbon credit absolution money.
Oh, I'm for developing "our resources" being that they are "Our's" OK, lets say they are, then "We the People" deserve royalties on those resourses, is this not true? So, we need to get rid of the 1872 mining law and put in something little more updated to give us those royalties.
Meh, the only thing that I know is that whether you like it or not, its good we have 2 parties. Imagine if we had only democrats. We would all become hippies, ally ourselves with questionable nations. Imagine if we were all republicans. All uptight, fighting against every country, no rights for un-normal people. So I say, let the parties go at it.
libs love polls so much, but I guess they failed to read this one: the MAJORITY of Americans want us to start drilling for our own oil. Get with the program, folks. Congress has the lowest approval rating in years, and it's democrat-led.
Polls don't state that. In fact the approval rating for John McCain and his politics states just the opposite. Wtf are you smoking and where did you get those statistics? I guess republicans love manipulating polls. Lets take for instance hmmm.. the election in 2,000.
if it weren't for democrats blocking republican legislation to drill 10 years ago while Clinton was pres., we wouldn't be saying it will take 10 years til you see any difference in drilling. now the dems are saying the same thing to drilling now, go figure.
lets fight the war on terror, and spend millions of dollars on developing a country for control of oil then economy wouldn't be fucked up. Go figure. P.S. Republicans had two terms to vote on that legislation. P.S. did you not hear about Bush's failed presidency?
Anybody who believes republicans...just stamp sucker on your forehead. These guys are bought and sold by oil companies. This is just a land grab for more leases for land. Oil companies are sitting on 10,000 leases of unused land with Oil on it.
Hmmm! Maybe they don't drill those 10,000 leases (a bs #) b/c after exploring the area they found that there's no oil or gas that would be profitable for them to drill for. It costs many thousands of dollars just to lease the mineral rights for just one acre land where there is oil and/or gas to be had. Then they have to set up drilling rigs which run upwards of $7 million a pop. According to douchebags like you they should be spending $20 million to get at $10 million worth of oil or gas.
You give reasons why its expensive to explore the land, BUT YOU PROVIDE NO DATA SAYING the 10,000 leases have BEEN Thoroughly explored. This is a land grab tactic by the Oil companies. The republican fictional revolution is a poorly orchestrated joke, trying to play on dumb Americans.
1. All experts state that even if you give Oil companies all the land to drill, the consumer will save NET .02.
2. It will take 10 years for the consumer to even feel the effects .02 saved at the pump.
3. Oil Companies are NOT OBLIGATED to sell OIL only to the United States. They can sell it to who ever they want for profit. The consumer isn't guaranteed a .02 decrease at the pump.
4. The number of Oil Rigs has declined. We don't even have the means to drill all the land that they want.
thank god for forward-thinking republicans. in 15 years when we've spent billions trying to get that last drop of oil, perhaps japan or denmark will have discovered the real source of future energy. when all of this is behind us, let's remember who led us down the path of further oil dependancy - republicans, and in particular, bush/cheney
The bill to give vets MORE AID, was threatened with a veto by Reichsfuhrer Bush and these clowns. It passed in spite of this BS.
Republicans attempted to derail the bill by attaching drilling provisions that would destroy some of the nations most pristine areas forever in exchange for savings of only pennies per gallon more than 15 years from now, according to President Bush's own Energy Department. The provisions, however, would provide billions of dollars in profits for the oil industry.
So funny. The only party against free speech and clean energy is the Republican party. They just give lip service to these issues. Look where they put their money. Tax breaks for oil companies! Exxon just made the most profit any company has ever made and Republicans want to give them a tax break?!?! Are you serious?!
only party against free speech? do a little research, its democrats pushing for the fairness doctrine. And its democrats that want gas prices to stay high so they can benefit politically from it. Let them have a vote on drilling like the majority of the public wants. What are you afraid of?
The reason Pelosi blocked the vote from happening is because she knows Obama will have to take a stand on the issue. This is what she meant when she said she is trying to save the world. Let a vote happen Pelosi to qoute Obama "we are the one's we've been waiting for." Lol. Great video only one I could find.
the sham is Nancy Pelosis congress! She is a huge disgrace!
To think that a comprehensive energy plan wouldn't include drilling our own oil is just plain silly. To think that anyone in favor of "freeing the SRO" doesnt realize that that oil was drilled out of the ground is scary.
If our government really wanted to stimulate the economy, they would figure out how to eliminate the 1.61/gallon Pelosi premium on gas.
Even with more drilling we are at full refining capacity. That is due to the closure of the refineries by our domestic oil companies. Our domestic demand has been lowering, why hasnt the price?
If you truly read Econ 101 then you would know that a company posting record profits would be foolish to flood the market with product and lower their bottom line.
I like roads I can drive on and bridges that dont fall down, call me silly.
what a ridiculous logical fallacy, if they were really arguing for anything other than mineral rights for big oil, they would be espousing that those oil companies drill in the 50 MILLION+ acres of leases they hold currently in the gulf of mexico. leases that are more accessible, and just as mineral rich. this is another grab at the wealth of the nation by the corporations that keep us in a strangle hold. politics are the scourge of our nation.
Domestic oil is controlled by far too few companies. Domestic oil companies will not drill, even if they have the ability to do such. Why would they? They are more profitable now then ever. They also stymie competition and they were responsible for limits on domestic production in the 1930's. If you owned a business that was earning more money now then ever, would you flood the market with product to lower the price when the domestic demand is not increasing???
Unbelievably dumb. The republicans are the ones that have been killing alternatives to oil for decades and now...NOW..they say they are aware of the problem. Well welcome to the party guys. Their brilliant solution...more oil! Why don't we just have the CEO of Exxon on the floor of the House and avoid the middlemen.
How the hell did the media hide the significance of the Dems actions?
Refusing to allow ANY votes to help our countries energy crisis?
The media really did die in 2008.

We have to start being independent on making our own supplies of gas and oil.
jankevin2 3 years ago
Well, let me tell you, without gas you will not be able to drive those hybrid cars because the gas engine charges the hybrid engines, some people can't change over to complete electric to heat their homes, people don't have the money to buy windmills, put up solar shingles on their roofs, they don't have the money to buy solar panels.

I'm glad someone is standing up for us and trying to do something about the gas prices, I wish I could go on a vacation, can't afford to. If the Democrats don't do something in September the American people should park their cars for one day and not buy any gas, so how that might lower the gas prices and see how the Democrat like that.

Even if drilling is allowed who says there'll be drilling? Right now the oil companies are making billions. Why would they drive their own profits down by putting more oil on the market?
trajan74 3 years ago
Good lord you're dumb. You need to really think about the energy strategies you're proposing before you mouth them off to people with a better grasp on the subject. I suppose you'll just use your magical liberal unicorn wands and turn all our cars into hydrogen fuel cell (the energy used to create that hydrogen from water often comes from either coal fired or nuclear fired power plants) and electric vehicles.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
Where are you going to put all those batteries anyway? What happens when they die? Shall we put them in landfills to leak batter acid for future generations to enjoy in their ground water?
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
LOL! Wind farms that need coal or nuclear energy to back them up b/c they only run at 17% of their maximum capacity (i.e. the amount of energy they'd produce if you lived in LaLa land and the wind blew there all the time). You're more than a bit retarded if you think current battery technology would make it cost effective and efficient to store all that energy for use later.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
God are you dense. What part of MULTIPLE FORMS OF ENERGY DO YOU NOT GET? So focused on parroting Exxon's talking point.... drill drill drill. The only form of energy is OIL in your mind. Just admit you're a whore for OIL, admission is the first step to recovery. WE NEED MULTIPLE FORMS OF ENERGY, WIND, SOLAR, OIL, and even NUCLEAR ...Now go back to your pimp and shut up.
Bucksin07 3 years ago
Dems like me support drilling to only if the following conditions are meant: the oil stays here. Drilling begins in a certain amount of time or the lease is revoked without a refund. If one the crew screws up one the rig don't raise our prices lower the crews salary. And personally, i think they should only hire only American workers to the rigs.
trajan74 3 years ago
ANWR oil mostly certainly will go to those countries as well as to Alaskans and Canadians and perhaps Russians but it's still jobs for Americans and tax revenue for our government.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
and as an aside, exxon mobile paid record high taxes of $30 billion in 2007 and on average pays $27 million per year in taxes. the tax rate for the bottom 50% of wage earners is only 3% of adjusted gross income, while exxon's tax rate is 41%. yet obama wants oil companies to 'give' $1000 to taxpayers? he's a socialist.

nylonbird 3 years ago
What is embarrassing is that you buy this ruse.
Oil companies have no intention of flooding the market with product therefore driving down their profits. What business would? A few select companies control all our supply. There is no real competition and rampant price fixing. This is not free market capatalism its corporate socialism. As Buckskin said, its a land grab. Low cost option on land to hold until product price makes it feasible and profitable to invest in drilling.
viriduspuck 3 years ago
I think this is absolutely awsome. Pelosi is way too out of touch with what you and I are experiencing at the pump. As to that land grab of which you speak it is actually land leasing that occurs and for those land leases many land owning Americans are very well paid. Oil and gas companies don't own the land they're "grabbing" they just lease the mineral rights. Oil execs aren't going to be building their mansions on those lands.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
Land Leasing, Land grab.....semantics.
Bucksin07 3 years ago
Complete BS. They pay to lease government just as they pay to lease private lands. Someone always benefits. It's either the private land owner or the entire federal government. It's not a matter of who they have to sell it to it's a matter of demand and transportation costs. The oil companies aren't going to pay billions of dollars to ship all that oil right off our coastline all the way to China or Japan.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
Your idiocy is more than apparent in your attempts to link $4.00/gallon gasoline in America to the supply of oil from Iraq (which made over $70 billion in oil revenue last year according to EIA and the Wall Street Journal and which only contributes a small portion to both the domestic and global oil supply). Iraq has a minimal effect on global oil prices at best.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
If our leaders really wanted to invade a country to steal it's natural resources and line their pockets it would have been a hell of a lot more lucrative for them and a hell of a lot less expensive (in terms of monetary costs, lives lost, and political good will) for them to invade a more easily conquerable country with more natural resources like Canada.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
I am not against drilling for American oil.
But, just doing that is not going to make much difference at the pumps for Americans. Oil companies will make a lot of money and taxes will be paid, but it is not going reduce our need for foreign oil.
DD826 3 years ago
Doing everything not just offshore oil drilling is what we want. Raising fuel economy standards and creating more hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (where the electricity and hydrogen generated comes from sources like nuclear power or coal), using coal to liquid technology and improving clean coal technology (we have tremendous coal reserves in this country), cont.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
using natural gas instead of heating oil in the north during the winter months, using nuclear energy and recycling the spent fuel, installing wind turbines and solar panels where feasible and funding improvements in those technologies that will allow us to tap high altitude wind currents, upper atmosphere solar rays, and ocean currents, cont.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
and drilling for our own oil right off of our own continental shelf will not end our use of foreign oil but they will most certainly dramatically reduce our dependence upon it. That is what we are calling for. All of the above.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
Irony of all this. Sadaam was dumping oil in the market to keep the price of oil low...to piss off the oil companies. They get rid of Sadaam, wink wink (Cheney's energy meetings)...price of oil goes up from 1.65 to 4.00 in 8 years and Big OIL makes out like bandits. Now they are trying to use the 4.00 gas prices to get a land grab. Brilliant from their end. Average American to stupid to know they are being hoodwinked YET again.
Bucksin07 3 years ago
The whole "America invaded Iraq to steal their oil and drive up the price" line is complete BS. If you had any proof to back up your BS claims Bush and Cheney would have already been impeached. You don't therefore they haven't been.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
If there weren't so many stupid whiny losers like you all over the world we might have actually done something about the tragic situations in Sudan and Zimbabwe. But no, instead of standing with us too many people choose instead to call those who would stand up to an evil despot like Saddam, despots themselves that wage war for profit. What president in his right mind would choose to act again without world support after seeing the reaction he got to eliminating the last dictator.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
we still need some oil for certain things. I don't think we'll ever be in a position where we don't need any oil. The little bit that we will need (after the move to solar, wind, etc.) should be taken from our own land though. That way we don't have to fight over oil in other countries.
Really, the people that say "don't drill here - drill over there" are really saying "don't use our oil - use theirs" which is why we are in this pickle in the first place.
abcinstaller 3 years ago
Where in the pickle because the Oil companies killed alternative forms of energy for cars in the 70s i.e. electric car and cafe standards.
Look at Pickens plan. 20% of Electrical power is generated by Natural gas, if you can replace that with wind power, and transfer the Natural gas toward transportation, you'll have a cleaner fuel thats better for environment. People who say drill drill drill, just want to transfer Saudi money to Exonn coffers. How much does the consumer gain vs. Big Oil?
Bucksin07 3 years ago
drilling in Anwarr
-Consumer gains .02/gallon.
-Big OIL stock 3% of 700 bill.
Who makes out like gang busters from that deal?
The only way you will decrease Oil prices for the consumer is to find an alternative fuel to give OIL competition. Flood the market with natual gas cars....price of oil will plummet. BIG OIL DOES NOT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN. This repub scam is a land grab to make Big OIL rich beyond their imagination, while giving us .02/gallon after 10 years.

If you want to sell your soul for any commodity that you don't make go ahead. Sell your soul to the electric or water company too while your at it. Maybe the oil execs can pork your wife too because your so beholden to them.
Bucksin07 3 years ago
alternative fuels are mediocre at best, who doesn't want to preserve the world for future generations, but if it takes 1000 acres of solar panels to light up 10000 homes not including maintenance, wear and tear of the panels then your doomed. Nuclear power, which by the way many of you libs automatically do not do the research on is a better way to go. France has enough energy to last for almost 7 years just on the spent energy, that is supposedly the "nuclear waste" which is 98% reusable
ericcruzstealth 3 years ago
You state ONE alternative energy source not source(s), then state its cons and none of its pros. Obama and even Mccain have stated it would take multiple energy sources to solve the US ENERGY problem. It seems the GOP is fixated on Nuclear or OIL. Both of which can cause drastic consequences to the environment and humans. Choice between Increasing global warming, more hurricanes, unusual temperatures or live next to a nuclear waste dump, while radioactive material seep into the ground water.

As for plugging of the ears I think that's strictly the domain of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and anyone who's still supporting them at this point. They refuse to compromise or allow even allow a vote on the issue.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
Omg ... snap out of La La land, the American public is not asking you of all people to forecast things to come, BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT IT. i.e Iraq, Economy. 10 trillion dollar from 4.5 trillion.
bms4lifem3 3 years ago
LMAO! The tax base as a whole not the bottom one third of taxpayers is what I was referring to. Obama's policies will most certainly shrink the tax base and turn our country (even more so than it already is) into a nation of two classes (i.e. the tax payers and the tax consumers). At the same time he'll see us all standing in line for a doctors visit while the trillions of dollars in universal healthcare costs are added to the national debt.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
Your argument: Trickle down economics will save us from a 2 class system? ITS THE VERY DEFINITION of a TWO class system. The haves get more an the have nots are out of luck.
When you ship millions of jobs over seas by promoting NAFTA, CAFTA, and other trade deals, THE TAX BASE WILL SHRINK, sherlock. Bush has done very little to replace those jobs. Obama will provide relief by decreasing the tax burden on the middle class.
Bucksin07 3 years ago
And to top it all off he'll veto free trade deals and make us a protectionist country (after all it worked out so well for Herbert Hoover didn't it?) So that those foreign imports douchebags like Bucksin07 so loves will sharply increase in price and we'll probably get involved in economy damaging trade wars with countries like Japan and China. He'll do that even though exports are one of the few areas where our economy continues to remain strong.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
Don't expect that to continue with a protectionist president. Oh yeah and his protectionism combined with his higher corporate taxes will make foreign companies far less inclined to invest in expanding their businesses to America. Maybe it's you who should snap out of Lala land. As for me I'm perfectly happy being well grounded in the La. La. land that is my home state of Louisiana (the one the rest of the country has been happy to suck dry of it's oil for decades now).
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
Please elaborate on how democrats will help the middle class secure stable jobs when for example businesses are leaving California because of exactly what Democrats are doing here, they are making it impossible for businesses to thrive in the free market. You are an economic idiot when it comes to policies, please keep talking smack and get over your ideology. Grow up.
ericcruzstealth 3 years ago
1. 150 Billion invested in alternative fuels, This will utilize American ingenuity and form millions of new jobs, while also getting us off the addiction of OIL.
2. 60 billion invested into the Infrastructure....will also create new jobs.
3. Tax incentives for businesses that stay in America, and tax companies that want ship jobs out of America.
The only idiot that I see is the one who wants to continue BUSH's suicidal economic policies. Pick a number how much more in debt you want us to be.
Bucksin07 3 years ago
It amazes me how stupid some republicans can be.
How many banks do we have to bail out?
How much more in debt must we become, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 10 trillion ?
How many more recessions...2, or 3?
...BEFORE YOU GET IT?
Its like you are sadistic sick pups ...hell bent on screwing up the economy. Can do everyone a favor and shut the hell up and sit this one out.

NO I got it right the first time the DUMB REPUBlicans who were in office for 7+ years plus this dumb president need to GO.
Bucksin07 3 years ago
Most of the republicans forgot why they got voted into power. They got this mentality of "if we just bring home MORE pork we will get reelected." Either republicans elect more conservatives or they can be a minority party forever as far as I'm concerned. I would rather eat my money than send any more of it to the federal gov. If Obama wins look for an energy policy of:
Put a sweater on in winter
Open the windows in summer
Fill your tires full of helium
Put your family of 4 in a Yugo
goodtimes22 3 years ago
Conservation of energy? plus funding for alternative fuels? ergo COMMON SENSE policies.
DO we need to fund education for conservatives to get it?

We should have let the banks fail, causing the 2nd great depression as everyone streams into the banks to take all money out. Leaving the tax payers to pick up the tab for FDIC. We are not in a recession, but we could slip into one if we elect someone who would raise capital gains tax. Bush hasn't been great with his weak dollar policy, but Barack would "raise the capital gains tax only for the rich." If you don't get the joke, Obama is for you.
goodtimes22 3 years ago
First you state the government shouldn't have intervened (CONSERVATIVE princpals), basically advocating a Depression,...then you predict (Your track record isn't great) that if Obama raises capital gains tax like Clinton did in the 1990's...(a time of economic prosperity) ...a recession will occur. Note: A depression is worse than a recession. Have you ever thought about being a clown as a profession? Forget politics or the economy, its not for you.
Bucksin07 3 years ago
Did you make it out of grade school? I tried to be civil and have a conversation, but you seem beyond that. Conservative princpals? Either you had a school leader in mind or the principal is your pal lesson missed you. Your "time of economic" prosperity had nothing to do with B.J. Clinton. Look at history it started AFTER Republicans took the congress.
goodtimes22 3 years ago
Post grad education. You? Let me guess. Probably, flunked out of college and now you're trying to hit the lotto buy working for an oil company, at America's expense.
Let's look at history, Bill Clinton (rhode's scholar, graduated with honors from Georgetown and Yale) 2 term president. A time of economic prosperity inspite of a Repub congress, obsessed with BJ
BUSH? with a republican congress? LoL can't wait for YOU to take ALL THE CREDIT FOR THIS MESS. Probably pass the buck on this one too.
Bucksin07 3 years ago
So your plan is to have us borrow more from China to fund more government jobs to work on technology that won't help us for decades? How about we just squeeze oil out of liberals for the rest of us to use. I won't be in favor of any solutions that doesn't involve the government getting out of the way of capitalism. Allow the free market to choose the winner of the race for the next energy source, not ANY government.
goodtimes22 3 years ago
pssst...FYI
5. Great Depression II= GOP polices
Bucksin07 3 years ago
1. This a temporary cost unlike Social Security, medicaid, medicare, welfare, and all the other entitlement programs that will bankrupt this country.
2. Let people vote for the best technology with pocketbooks, not politicians.
3. Until 2006 (when Democrats took over the congress) unemployment was lower than any year of the Great Clinton Era.
4. Government does give anything to its citizens. Our government takes money from it's citizens and spends it on 50% waste.
5. Dumb
goodtimes22 3 years ago
That response was dumb. Get somebody smarter.
Bucksin07 3 years ago
And do try not pulling crap out of your ass and presenting it as the truth next time. The oil and gas companies pay and will continue to pay billions upon billions of dollars to lease the necessary land and drill for oil and gas upon it. That's part of their overhead costs not a taxpayer burden and it creates thousands of jobs for Americans who then pay taxes rather than being a drain on the tax base like all the socialist reforms Democrats want to put in place.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
With a liberal douchebag like Obama in office and dictating American energy policy you can expect our dependence on foreign oil to go up, more bad decisions like turning corn into ethanol biofuel (which has raised food prices and kills people in poorer countries that can't afford to pay more for food), our national security to decline, and energy prices to sky rocket. So yes it is only going to get worse with douchebags like yourself running the show.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
God you are simple. OIL OIL OIL OIL......
Alternative fuels... SOLAR, WIND, NUCLEAR, BIO.....stop parroting BIG OIL's talking points.
THEY DON"T WANT ALTERNATIVE FUELS BECAUSE IT CUTS into their profits. THEY HAVE A strangle hold on the US. You are like freakin addict that doesn't have a clue you are addicted.
bms4lifem3 3 years ago
By the way how many carbon credits have lined Al Gore's pockets with today?
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
"You're so stupid its papable," said the MCbush supporter.
Who in their right mind should be listening to you after your LONG history of bad decisions? The only innovations you've made is finding new ways tO RIP off Americans. The NEW drill drill drill for OIL another new scheme, that will offer the CONSUMER NOTHING more than pennies.
Cloud cover in the desert? parts of Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico. You can store the energy, simpleton.
There are wind farms NOW all over Iowa, ND, Montana.
Bucksin07 3 years ago
In actuality it will take 5 years or less. Now compare that to the 20+ years it will take to get unreliable highly expensive renewable energy resources online and providing for a majority of our energy needs. Backup sources of energy (i.e. coal or nuclear) are always needed to prevent power interruptions when renewable sources are used. Not to mention that in states where renewable energy use is highest (i.e. Texas and California) home energy prices are at there greatest.

PocketVeto 3 years ago
The Republicans have some nerve...the condition of this country is THEIR fault...plain and simple.
philip0460 3 years ago
You're laughably uninformed. The current energy crisis is the result of the one two combination of increased global demand (i.e. from India and China) and the repeated blockades by Democrats to pursuing our own domestic natural resources. No new nuclear power plants (or the spent fuel recycling that goes on within them), no new coal fired plants (or development of clean coal or coal to liquid technology), and no new offshore drilling or refineries. So whose fault is all this really.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
Drilling the oil will knock about 5 cents off a gallon, and not for another 10 years. Also, since the taxpayers are going to pay for the drilling (read the fine print, you perennially gullible republican douche bags) you will actually end up paying MORE FOR OIL than you do now. But of course, it feels a lot better just to plug your ears and scream the way you've been doing for the past thirty ears. Keep getting red in the face, it's only going to get worse.
KoroOutbreak 3 years ago
It's the environmentalist screamings of douchebags like yourself that have put us in this current energy pickle. You moonbats just can't seem to understand the law of supply and demand can you. Just like you can't understand that it's not just about energy price but about national security and not sending billions of dollars to prop up the governments of countries that hate us. You douchebags keep screaming about it taking 10 years but you were saying that 10 years ago.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago 2
"The current energy pickle." HAHAHA. No. "Moonbat." I smell a Rush Limbaugh (junkie) listener! Don't you have the ability to read or think for yourself? pukaman2000 3 years ago
Meh, the only thing that I know is that whether you like it or not, its good we have 2 parties. Imagine if we had only democrats. Democrats great escape on energy? thats as ironic as saying maybe 'on-shore drilling in the U.S. will lower dependency on oil'.
theLement5 3 years ago
libs love polls so much, but I guess they failed to read this one: the MAJORITY of Americans want us to start drilling for our own oil. Get with the program, folks. Congress has the lowest approval rating in years, and it's democrat-led.
gman40isthenew30 3 years ago
Polls don't state that. In fact the approval rating for John McCain and his politics states just the opposite. Wtf are you smoking and where did you get those statistics? I guess republicans love manipulating polls. Lets take for instance hmmm.. the election in 2,000.
theLement5 3 years ago
if we don't drill more here, there will only be more drilling in other places such as the middle east, its your decision.
ericcruzstealth 3 years ago
if it weren't for democrats blocking republican legislation to drill 10 years ago while Clinton was pres., we wouldn't be saying it will take 10 years til you see any difference in drilling. now the dems are saying the same thing to drilling now, go figure.
ericcruzstealth 3 years ago
If it wasn't for the Republicans saying
lets fight the war on terror, and spend millions of dollars on developing a country for control of oil then economy wouldn't be fucked up. Go figure. P.S. Republicans had two terms to vote on that legislation. P.S. did you not hear about Bush's failed presidency?
theLement5 3 years ago
Anybody who believes republicans...just stamp sucker on your forehead. These guys are bought and sold by oil companies. This is just a land grab for more leases for land. Oil companies are sitting on 10,000 leases of unused land with Oil on it.
Bucksin07 3 years ago
According to douchebags like you they should be spending $20 million to get at $10 million worth of oil or gas.
roonalwazlib 3 years ago
You give reasons why its expensive to explore the land, BUT YOU PROVIDE NO DATA SAYING the 10,000 leases have BEEN Thoroughly explored. This is a land grab tactic by the Oil companies. The republican fictional revolution is a poorly orchestrated joke, trying to play on dumb Americans.
bms4lifem3 3 years ago
We don't even have the means to drill all the land that they want.
bms4lifem3 3 years ago
5. We also have to find cleaner alternative fuels that doesn't effect the environment adversely.
Win win situation for OIL companies. Do you really think OIL Companies want the price of OIL to come down???????????????????????????????
bms4lifem3 3 years ago
Well, I guess we'd have more oil if Bill had drilled offshore, now wouldn't we. We have plenty of oil offshore but we can't access it?
USkicksass 3 years ago
thank god for forward-thinking republicans. in 15 years when we've spent billions trying to get that last drop of oil, perhaps japan or denmark will have discovered the real source of future energy. when all of this is behind us, let's remember who led us down the path of further oil dependancy - republicans, and in particular, bush/cheney
crackheadwillie 3 years ago
The bill to give vets MORE AID, was threatened with a veto by Reichsfuhrer Bush and these clowns. It passed in spite of this BS.
Republicans attempted to derail the bill by attaching drilling provisions that would destroy some of the nations most pristine areas forever in exchange for savings of only pennies per gallon more than 15 years from now, according to President Bush's own Energy Department. The provisions, however, would provide billions of dollars in profits for the oil industry.

only party against free speech? do a little research, its democrats pushing for the fairness doctrine.

Drill here. Drill now. Read Economics 101.

jmaschle 3 years ago
Even with more drilling we are at full refining capacity. That is due to the closure of the refineries by our domestic oil companies. Our domestic demand has been lowering, why hasnt the price?
If you truly read Econ 101 then you would know that a company posting record profits would be foolish to flood the market with product and lower their bottom line.
I like roads I can drive on and bridges that dont fall down, call me silly.

what a ridiculous logical fallacy, if they were really arguing for anything other than mineral rights for big oil, they would be espousing that those oil companies drill in the 50 MILLION+ acres of leases they hold currently in the gulf of mexico. leases that are more accessible, and just as mineral rich. this is another grab at the wealth of the nation by the corporations that keep us in a strangle hold. politics are the scourge of our nation.
darththc 3 years ago
Congress is stringing along its base but it's really the oil companies that benefit.
AirborneIdentity 3 years ago
This is a ruse.
Domestic oil is controlled by far too few companies. Domestic oil companies will not drill, even if they have the ability to do such. Why would they? They are more profitable now then ever. They also stymie competition and they were responsible for limits on domestic production in the 1930's. If you owned a business that was earning more money now then ever, would you flood the market with product to lower the price when the domestic demand is not increasing???
viriduspuck 3 years ago
Unbelievably dumb. The republicans are the ones that have been killing alternatives to oil for decades and now...NOW..they say they are aware of the problem. Well welcome to the party guys.
