Reissue yes. I'd love to try an original. If they were good enough for Keith and Joe Perry, they'd sure be good enough for me. Put some videos of the guitar on YouTube please.
i also expect that it will be like twice as heavy as a Les Paul considering the Plexi body and aluminum neck are the heaviest parts of both of the instruments im working with. :p
hahaha i will if i ever do for sure. its just a matter of me finding a travis bean, and learning how to do metal working or finding someone to do it for me then getting the plexiglass body.....could take awhile, but im gonna save up the money i guess, why not. :]
After a little more research ive discovered that my idea couldnt really work with normal parts. Travis bean necks actually extend down into the body and incorporate the pickups. This ampeg's specialy wired pickup system doesn't really mesh with the travis bean neck, they would overlap theoretically. so i guess im gonna have to copy the meausments on a travis bean neck and make a shorter bolt on style aluminum neck that would fit on the ampeg.
dude totally, those are two of favorites right there!
man i really want to try that! the combination of the plexiglass body and aluminum neck should should pretty interesting.
yeah the sustain would be crazy i bet! ive got a Sunn cab and a Boss DF2 Feedback distortion pedal so sustain isnt really an issue but all the same...
dude that awesome! i own a mustang as well, and an eastwood hiflyer.but ive always want one of these. how do you think it would sound with a Travis Bean neck on it???
thanks, you know once you use a couple of effects, you can pretty much make any guitar do anything. This one does cut nice and clean though, it really has a vibe of its own.
First off great cover. You nailed it. But did you know if you look at the video "Jimi Hendrix with the Rolling Stones" or something like that Jimi and Keith Richards are passing around an Ampeg.
this is why i dont want a plexi guitar, they are fucking sexi but soooo much sustain

Nice! Reissue?
I just bought a 1971 original, to replace the 1969 I sold last year (doh!). Very cool guitars though, I love em.
