They are dressed like Algerians. Algerians had a reputation as fierce warriors in the 1850's and a few American units copied their uniforms. They were called zoaves .

i go tho this event every year and it is usally pretty good. the battles are sub par but they treat the reenactors so well. i'll be there this weekend.

this weekend was our best (im 16 and i reenact this even every year im with the 15th texas dismounted cav) a verryy verry fun even and it gets u away from stress of everday life

I have little knowledge about the proper uniforms for Zouaves, but anyone else wearing gaitors is pretty farby. And I love the farby white trousers. Not a bad sized reenactment though.

this one is a lot better than the one i went to go see last week. there was a lot more people, and the fog looks great!
