Really great job! Liked the witty dry narrating worked well with all the beautiful pics.Did the same trip about 10 tears ago in winter. Dog sledding along the Bow with my wife is something I will always cherish.
soo great !!! thanks for posting it! I used to live and work in Banff and miss it badly. So memories come up again when I look at it and I feel a strong desire to be back there one day
Hello gsigs, great video! A nice collection of images, video and commentary. This video would be great for the Canada’s Got Treasures collection, which aims to feature Canadian videos of personal or cultural significance. Help celebrate Canadian diversity by joining our YouTube group (/group/TresorTreasure) and submitting your video. It would be made available on our channel and website.
hi excellent vid! i am off to the rockies for a month! leaving in 3 weeks so not long now :-)
just a quick question. i am travelling alone. and i understand there are may hazzards in the parks, but will i be okay going on some hikes? i was hoping: 1) i would be okay alone, yes thre is a risk, but not a huge one, and 2) there would be people there i could hike with/near?
first time you see banff national park is amazing and the scenary is just amazing and the size of the place. However once you have seen it its kind of sad as the funs over and youve done it. i still haven't seen the europeans mountains. Will i get the same feeling upon arrival when i see the europeans mountains as i did when i entered banff national park? do they seem as surreal as banff
@Lunarlaserranging the swiss alps are very very beautiful. i would defo say go! if you are planning a trip, and have a bit of spare cash - hire a sports car. the roads are retty much meant for it! but on the wildlife front i would say the rockies are better. not been as yet, but the wildlife in the alps is not as diverse as banff NP etc..
The hotel doesn't have 2 names. It's called The Banff Springs. The company that owns it is Fairmont. Hence "Fairmont Banff Springs" Second large hotel pictured is called "Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise"
We've travelled a lot over the decades and seen some spectacular sites...the Canadian Rockies, however, are in a league of their own. The road from Lake Louise to Jasper was actually literally overwhelming. After a while no one says 'wow' anymore as the word doesn't lice up to the feeling.
My wife and I went to Banff 10 yrs ago and it was the best trip we've ever had for sightseeing. We've been to most all of the major US natl. parks but our trip to Banff topped them all. You can see the most in a short period of time. Second I would have to put Yosemite. Also a very beautiful park.
can anybody reccomend a good itinary planner for alberta rockies. I always find it difficult making a choice in what to do with so much choice. Good places for spotting bears & mountain lions.
can anybody reccomend some good riding trails in alberta close to banff & jasper? I want trail in which i'll be actually riding in the mountain ranges if possible. IS there any trails which will give me high elevation gain of 10,000ft or over? Where should i go to stay? banff or jasper? I want to move around and never like being tied to stay in one area hotel. I thought about camping to save hotel fees. are the shower areas private in campsites? I could sleep in the minivan rental car
Hi, those aren't the Rockies but the Coast mountain ranges. BC is a HUGE place. There are many mountain ranges throughout! The Columbias(themselves composed of many ranges, Selkirks, Monashees, Bugaboos etc), the Rockies, The Coast ranges...there are dozens.
if you're after rocky mountain scenery is alberta generally better than bc? I am planning a mountain bike trip to canada and the whistler area in bc looks good but has fewer mountains than alberta. IS alberta better than B.C.? I have heard its much warmer in alberta.
Having been to both, I would say that Alberta is better for mountain scenery. The temperature is of course dependent on the season and the altitude. BC is probably more developed than Alberta. Consider Vancouver Island as well, Victoria is a beautiful place.
Hi there. It's difficult to say in that BC is PLASTERED with high alpine mountains and SPECTACULAR scenery, some of which is seldom ever seen by man. This is the problem, much of it is difficult/impossible to access. The Rockies, which lie on the BC/Alberta border are tourist "central". So access is easier...at least small, selected parts, the Rockies continue on for THOUSANDS of km's in BC alone! Seeing even 10% would be a lifetime of exploring!
By "access" you mean? The Rockies have the great benefits of a couple major roadways through the "touristy" parts. Plus, because it's so popular, there are very "nice" approach trails to the mountains, some of which are maintained by the parks. Bushwacking also tends to be much easier with less thick foilage/forest! But there are select mountains in almost every range that can be easily accessed. Sometimes getting info is harder though because they are less popular.
i love the narrating haha but i was disapointed you didn't take us down main street, the hot springs or the historian caves, i was looking forward to hear what you had to say about that.
Thanks, I'm not really that dry in person. I didn't really think the downtown area was all that special and couldn't think of a way to fit it into the narrative. The other places we just didn't have time to get to!
This is a very well done video. I enjoyed it very much. thank you for sharing your trip. I have never been out to Banff before but would LOVE to! Keep up the good work!
Good video, especially since I plan on going to Banff in the very near future and this video provided me with a preview of what to expect.
However, I am curious about one thing: You called both a squirrel and also a 2 pound bird "dangerous wildlife". Why? How "dangerous" can a squirell and a 2 pound bird really be?
lmfao, incredible risks. OKAAAYY...
