@223o No no no, you can go from high school to flight school. I think what you saw was becoming a crew chief, since most of the time you have to work yourself into a flight slot.

@223o The benefit of being a mechanic and taking that route is you know the frame already, hopefully you will make friends in high places to help you get into the position, and most of all you will be a warrant officer who's sole purpose is to fly if you become an officer you basically get grounded by O4. But I'm not military just someone who wanted to be.

Being a crew chief is great, but that recruiter is lying through his teeth because he doesn't get the credit for putting pilots in and has to do a lot more paperwork. I'm glad I crewed for a while (Chinooks), but my recruiter could have put me in just as easily.

I always wanted to fly something for the military. I actually got my private pilots license before i even got my drivers license in high school. I talked to a recruiter about flying and he said that me showing that kind of interest in flying would help me but in your opinion, do you think having a private pilots license would even help me get into one of these birds?

Amazing video; Studying now to fly for the army but recruiter said I most likely couldnt just hop in a bird and that I most likely would have to turn a wrench for awhile before I would get the opportunity. How did you get into the belly of the beast?

@JLogan666 It takes some time to get a flight slot most of the time. My advice is if you do come in as a 15T (Blackhawk repairer) or other, just be good at what you do. Be the best mechanic in the shop, and they will take you to flight company. Some guys get lucky though, and get sent straight from AIT to flight.

@JLogan666 dont let a recruiter push you around. he only wants you to be a mechanic first because its much less paperwork and is quicker for him to enlist you as a mechanic then have you apply for the flight schools. tell him you want to go to warrant officer flight training, the only prerequisite is a high school degree. dont take no for an answer and put your WOFT application in.

@JLogan666 My advice to you if you haven't already joined is to at least try for the flight slot. If your test scores are high, have excellent letters of recommendation, a strong essay, and come off as an individual ready to commit yourself and take on the responsibilities of an Army Aviator, you may very well go "street to seat".

yeah that makes sense, since the army has the only special operations aviation regiment. if you wanna be a helicopter pilot. army is the way to go

Yeah, he's right though, the Army has the most helicopters, more than any other service. We also have the most airframes, AH-64, HH-60, MH-60, UH-60, OH-58, MH-6, AH-6, CH-47, MH-47, UH-1, and Lakotas are a few.. Lakotas are new, so I'm not sure about the designation. But yeah, The flight program is easier to get into, and you have a good chance of making it as a pilot.

vampov, Jesus commanded all Christians to love their enemies. I see no sign of Christians in the US military making any attempt to do love their enemies. Just the opposite is all I see from them, as demonstrated in this video.

I can love them, but self preservation for the good of my family comes first. Loving your enemy can also pertain to giving him a merciful death instead of torture. No, I'm not christian. If I were my sabbath would be on Saturday, and Christmas on September 15th because I have read the bible.

Exodus shouldn't be included in the bible anyway, it was basically a chapter on modern law (at the time) not divinely inspired. You have to read it all in its own context, and remember the bible has been edited many times - exodus is in the King James VERSION. There are many more relevant books which were edited from the bible.
