  • Boy I love this it brings back the memories

  • they totes made this song way better and more rockin

  • The infringement may have been the cartoon characters they used with the song in the other video. But I loved it and thought that it was classic.

  • me and my mom just danced into this song :))

  • i love this song-- can't stop listening to it

  • im pretty sure that no one knows the date of jesus's birth and that dec the 25th was the date selected to worship the birth of our saviour

  • Dude, get over yourself, your not worth our time of day and really arguing the fact that CHRISTmas IS NOT CHRISTian is pointless and worthless, thank you and MERRY CHRISTMAS PEOPLE!!! :D

  • @MadCat817 i agree :) Christmas is all about CHRIST and that's why it's called CHRISTmas.

  • @MadCat817 i agree with you on the fact that Christmas is about Jesus our savior.

But i disagree with you where you said that the people that saidChristmas wasn't Christian were not worth our time of day. To truly live as a Christian is to walk with God. Walking with God means living how He would want us to live. Instead of saying that people aren't worth our time of day is the opposite of how we should live. God has time for everyone and so should we. So we should pray for them instead.

  • Christmas was not among the earliest festivals of the church ... the first evidence of the feast is from Egypt." (Catholic Encyclopaedia 1911 edition)

There is no authoritative tradition as to the day or month of Christ's birth ... The winter solstice was regarded as the birthday of the sun and at Rome a pagan festival of the nativity of 'sol invictus' was introduced by the Emperor Aurelian on 25th December (Chambers Encyclopaedia 1970)

  • The Winter Solstice is the day where there is the shortest time between the sun rising and the sun setting. I To pagans this meant that the winter was over and spring was coming and they had a festival to celebrate it and worshiped the sun for winning over the darkness of winter. The Winter Solstice in Scandinavia and some other parts of northern Europe is called Yule and is where we get " Yule Logs" from.

  • The following Sun-deities were all born on 25 December, according to their legends: Crishna (Vishnu), Mithra (Mithras), Osiris, Horus, Hercules, Dionysus (Bacchus), Tammuz, Indra, Buddha. Therein we also read of the Scandinavian goddess Frigga in whose honor a "Mother-night" festival was held at the winter solstice 25 December, as well as a similar great feast of Yule, where a boar was offered at the winter solstice in honor of Frey.

  • Encyclopædia Britannica, Volume 11 ; page 390. "During the later periods of Roman history, sun worship gained in importance and ultimately led to what has been called a 'solar monotheism.' Nearly all the gods of the period were possessed of Solar qualities. The feast of Sol and Victus (open unconquered Sun) on December 25th was celebrated with great joy, and eventually this date was taken over by the Christians as Christmas, the birthday of Christ."

  • Mercyme, oh yeah!!! love this band!

  • I understand it was a Pagan worship, but let's just look past the argument and celebrate Christmas like MercyMe is doing, okay?

  • Is there anywhere I can get the tabs for the solo? I am probably going to play it at a concert in December, so yeah, I need it ha

  • Derekb2,

With respect, Christmas was not celebrated by pagans. They worshiped the sun god b/c days were growing longer. That has nothing to do with the events that Christians celebrate spoken in glorious detail in Luke. Jer. 10 is not about a Christmas tree. Read the context. It is speaking about making things from wood, decorating it and worshiping it. That IS idolatry. If you aren't convinced that celebrating the birth of Jesus is good, by all means, refrain. Romans 14

    Peace be with you.

  • Christmas was celebrated by pagan sun-worshippers for thousands of years before the Messiah was even born. Pagan sun-worshippers celebrated the birthday of the reincarnate sun-god on December 25th. Every sun-god was born on December 25th. Scripture is very clear that we are not to celebrate this particular holiday. Jeremiah 10:2-4 This passage is obviously referring to cutting down the Christmas tree, putting it on some sort of tree stand, and decorating it.

  • uh...no you're taking the passage out of context because the whole passage refers to the building and worship of worthless idols. You have to read the WHOLE TEXT before you make remarks like that. The Bible does not condemn Christmas Trees, it condemns the woship of Christmas Trees. If we use your same logic then chopping down tress to build houses painting the house would be condemned by the Bible. I comend your trying to be a good Christian. Just make sure you're not mixing up your facts ;)

  • @derekdb2

As far as pagans worshiping on December 25th for thousands of years before Christ was born I have one thing to say: Where do you get your information? The month of December wasn't even called that until 46 B.C.E (which by the way was only around 42 years before the birth of Christ). So how could the pagans worship on December the 25th for thousands of years, before there ever was a "December 25th"?

  • December was the tenth month in the Roman calendar and two festivals for pagan gods: natalis solis invicti (the Roman "birth of the unconquered sun"), and the birthday of Mithras, the Iranian "Sun of Righteousness" worship was popular with Romans .The same gift-giving and merrymaking greenery, lights was all done during Pagan Roman Saturnalia, is the same pagan practices being kept today . Christmas is a PAGAN not a Biblical festival

  • lighten up it's Christmas lol..and the song says nothing negative

  • I love this SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great stuff!

    hugs shelly

  • our group is doing a dance to this at wachovia in Charlotte, NC is anyone wants to come! it's on dec. 7

  • I'm not much in to Christmas songs, but I'm glad I discovered this, because this is one terrific band!!

  • What a cracking band - came across this version while channel surfung this afternoon - really pleased tayht I did.

  • I am sure some people would say this band has no business making secular Christmas music and I would say to those people - God made all music and if we as Christian musicians cannot enjoy it ALL, and use it all to reach others, then we need to put away our instruments and sit down and shut up. This is a great version of a great song.

  • God is The Creator of All. But are you not wise enough to understand that Satan's goal is to pervert that which Christ intended for good. I would have to challange you as a true believer to truely seek the truth of music. Why did God create music? Whom did God create to create worship and lead worship in Heaven? If your statement that God made all music and if we as Christian musicians cannot enjoy it ALL then somehow we can't enjoy any is so false and flawed. It is Christian Exterism WWJD

  • Amazing band and an awesome version of this song! Is there anything these fellas can't do?

  • i love this band!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
