they were ahead of their time. it's weird how powerful music is in it's ability to bring back the "feel" of an era. Same thing with smell. Heck play this along with a clove cigaret and it might transport me back to the 80's.
The Cocteau Twins produced the most beautiful, ageless, original sound ever recorded by any modern band, as far as I'm concerned. Hearing this song takes me back to the time when I was first into their music, but it never reminds me of anything else in the world of music that was happening at that time. That's the magic of their music. It exists in it's own special place in time, just the music and the listener.
What I love most about Cocteau Twins is, it's always so catchy and haunting, and I can never understand what she's saying! Didn't she say that the lyrics really mean nothing?
@TheNewJamesDean On Cocteau Twins music...Robin Guthrie plays multiple layers of effected guitars, Simon Raymonde plays bass and occasional keyboards and the drums were usually electronic. Liz F. does multi-layered vocals...all are awesome musicians!
I didnt know anything about the cocteau twins until treasure so then i had to go back wards but I still think I came in on a good time..there were still changing...from blood bitch to this to ....geez I don't know what...this song is about what?
The CT's whimsical music & lyrics have been an integral part of my life. ITGDR, PDDD, Aikea Guinea etc, & I guess everything that they ever produced & released, still send shivers,(of delight)down my spine.Their music is Timeless & I thank 4ZZZ in Brisbane for Introducing them to me, all those years ago. Brilliant.
dammmmmmm I can't believe someone put one of my favorite cocteau songs up sheesh.....in the gold dust rush... I love how she says in the gold dust rush...mainly cause thats the name of the song and it was one of the first times I could pick something out from one of there songs...cool guitars..and her going nutz. love it(and no I don't think she's nut's)
I can't be sure about any of their lyrics, of course, but I've always liked thinking that one of the lines is "When the gold is rushed, it only genuflects."

@MordaciousFilms: the lyrics mean nothing and everything - that's what makes them so poetic and haunting.

I think it is PVC-glue dropped on water and then a macro photo is made of it. Really awesome texture.

Great layering with the sounds. Sadly I can't tell wether it's studio techniques or the band doing that!..... Anyone?

I've always had half an idea that this was about cocaine... Gold Dust, or Fool's Gold?... kinda like Heaven, or only tawdry, ephemeral Las Vegas?
