Is he on Tegretol. It can stunt their development. I have a friend who son was on it at 3 years to 5 years. He did not develop at all those 2 years becuase of the Tegretol.
Hey!! I have Tourette Syndrome and shaking my head is one of my tics. These to me do not look like seizures, but they do look like tics. I would check Tourette Syndrome out. If you have any questions, send me a message!! (I have tourette's!!)
He does have autism. I think the head shaking is a stim. He does have a history of LOTS of seizures and his latest EEG showed seizure "activity" but it didn't correlate to any of the strange behaviors we were seeing. We put him on anti-convulsants to prevent seizures from reoccurring.
My son has severe autism and does the same things, he also does the hard blinking as well. Sometimes his arms stiffen up when he does these things. Your son looks like my son too. :o)
The neuro thinks both the head shaking and hard blinks are tics or self-stim behavior. I would be a little concerned about your son's arm stiffening. Has he ever had an EEG? Might be worth having one done to rule out seizures.
I've seen typical kids do similar things but my son has a history of confirmed seizures so we are more suspicious of unusual behaviors. If you are unsure, always good to videotape it and let doctor view the behavior himself. Easier for him/her to get an idea of whether it's normal than from a verbal description.

Sometimes spinning or shaking his head can also be a tic & a sign of tourette syndrome. I have TS & shaking my head is a major tic for me.

Shaking head is a sign of a seizure? My baby cousin rolls his head and shakes it as well... We thought it very odd but the doctor brushed it off.
