Basically morality comes from two areas. 1 Genetic drive to survive which requires the society to survive as we are pack animals (we depend on others to survive).
2. Parents and peers. A good moral structure can be applied to everyone based on reason rather than fear and superstition.

The fact that the bible texts were compiled decades after the events leads to questions in how accurate it could be. Accounts by people like Papias rely heavily on stories told by others about the events. I dont believe in an afterlife either - and I do believe after death we simple are gone, no different than stepping on a spider. But that doesnt mean I dont wish there was one. Id LOVE to think that my grandparents and other loved ones and friends are looking down on me. It would be SO comforting to think I will see them again.

However the bible was not completed until well into the 4th Century.
The fact that the bible texts were compiled decades after the events leads to questions in how accurate it could be. Accounts by people like Papias rely heavily on stories told by others about the events. There is a strong hypothesis that the comments by Josephus was ammended by Christian copyists well after the event.

2. Hearsay because no one wrote anything down that saw an event. Papias suppositly interviewed people who remembered some things decades after they supposeitly happened. From what I read he loved a good story, the more outlandish the better. Check out his Judas story as a perfect example. He did not like written accounts but stuck to peoples shady recollections as a priority.

You can have your heart stop, and be considered dead by some standards. You can be "Brain Dead" for a short time, but your heart is still functioning, or machines are keeping you alive ect... But IF there were an afterlife - wouldnt god only take people who are ACTUALLY DEAD to heaven. Not someone who is dying but going

Isnt gods plan already laid out and doesnt he already know everything. Whats with this "visions after death" stuff. You need to first understand what the medical community considers death. Until you are called dead and officially recorded as decesaed, you are STILL alive. therefore, you would not see any afterlife, becuase your alive, and god knows it

Its like if I knew nothing about your religion and argued with you. But I have read the bible and studied a lot of religions and cultures.
With no big bang, how do you explain the speeding expansion of the universe, billions of galaxies moving apart, or the Cosmic Background Radiation?

Dont get me wrong, the idea of an afterlife, of seeing my family again... man i would LOVE it. but I cant go on beleiving it just because I want to. So thats why I choose to live this way, because its what is real, and I believe things that can be proven, or have some evidence towards, but ive never seen a shred of evidence for an afterlife

Studies have already shown that when a person is near death, the brain releases large quantities of endorpins and other chemicals and begins shutting down, causing a very powerful halucinigenic experience.
Besides - doesnt god have it all planned out? If someone was NEAR DEATH but going to live, God should know right? So why would he start bringing them into the afterlife if they are gonna make it. Unless God is making mistakes up there?

The Bible is the WORST possible piece of evidence for god, because even if you beleive in god, and believe prophets were truly made to create a bible, there is no way to know that when it was originally printed, it was not manipulated. In fact, ithats very likely. Look back in history, leaders change history books, laws, everything... why not the bible too, so they can suit their own needs?

Choose man for answers or choose a balance of both. To only choose God for solutions is a dangerous thing, for he/she has a way of conceiling information from us (Adam and Eve are a prime example).

If they are convinced that when they die they get to go to a party and be reunited wth their loved ones in the afterlife it make it 10x easier to send them to their doom, can you not understand this?
