  • what is the minimum radius you can run this on?

  • @mrchinile I have one 18" radius curve on the line, and it can navigate that as long as it isn't going too fast. The minimum recommended is 22".

  • not the ending i was expecting. pretty funny!

  • D:

YOU BLEW UP A BIG BOY!

  • are frank and mack BLI AC6000

  • @trainmanauxl1 I wish, lol.

Actually, they're Athearn C44-9Ws. My dad bought them in 1996.

  • Hey can you make it turn a tight corner? I just want to see if it could

  • from where i can buy this online ?

  • @KALIMIRCH

BLI doesn't sell them anymore, but they do pop up on ebay every now and then. Hope you have a pocketful of cash when they do.

  • @KALIMIRCH I have one that's brand new in box that I am selling. I'm hoping to get about $550 plus shipping for it, but I will consider offers.

  • is it paragon

  • how much did this cost

  • i got a question how cal the black lok who is in the middel uf the 3 loks (at pushing and pulling)

  • @KrIeGeR333 Sense was not made.

  • so happy I got mine to work again!

  • Beautiful Loco, I have a question or two if you don't mind. One is of course does the loco smoke at all or do you have to add an after market smoke kit to it? Secondly are there any vocals like in the Paragon 2 series steamers?

  • @skeley1

The loco does not come with smoke, but you can install 2 seuthe smoke units in it.

And, no, there aren't any crew commands in the soundset. Quite frankly, I like it better that way.

  • Thanks for the reply, Yeah I can agree about the vocals a bit it can get annoying. I had just bought this Train and looking to add the smoke units to unit, would you happen to know which ones exactly to install so I can order them? Thanks again for your replies.

  • @skeley1

Look up Seuthe smoke units. If you plan on running DC, use the #99 models. If you want to use DCC, use the #100 models.

  • What would you say is a good minimum curve for one of these?

  • @SCL3618

While this thing has the ability to operate on 18 inch curves, it doesn't really look right. I'd recommend no less than 22 inch radius.

  • @ronthecyborg Thanks.

  • Regarding the scenes in which the Big Boy locomotive is pulling and pushing the other steam locomotive with the help of the UP diesel at the other end, is the steam locomotive in the middle just being dragged? Its wheels aren't moving in either direction. Isn't dragging the steamer like that rough on all the locomotives and damaging to the steamer in the middle?

  • awesome! how much did it cost?

  • On the PCM Big Boy, I have one. You need to go to LokSound for all the CV's, it is 61 pages. I have 3 Blue Line engines and for the money hard to beat.

  • I'd be surprised if it was just $4,000,000 down the train.

  • what i dont like about most blueline is how the brake squeal sometimes starts AFTER you stop. I may just try to get rid of the sound either way, global emergency stop eature on my dcs400 remote makes all my mikados stop and squeal all at the same time after they stop and it drives me crazy. anyways nice vid! 5 stars!

  • i got the nce power cab, its pretty easy to use, i like it, i know alot of people like dititrax tho and i think thats good too(never used it, but it sounds good, almost got it my self, proably will get it for my next layout

  • Thanx for the reply! I was under the impression that the Blueline was simply my PCM loco without the DCC decoder. Is the Digitrax easy to use? I am looking for a new system since mine was stolen. I had the NCE Power Cab, but didn't think it was that user friendly.

  • We use Digitrax up at the local club. It's fairly simple to use, we even have kids coming up there from time to time! (so long as they're supervised!)

I've never had any experience with NCE myself, but it's probably second in line to Digitrax

  • Hi, Ron! Wonderful video! May I bother you with a few questions? Which Big Boy is this and which DCC system do you use? There's no way it could be the Blue Line one. And could you please tell me how you did the pitch modification in the steam whistle? LOVED that! I own the Precision Craft Big Boy, I think it's part of the BLI line, but I sure don't know how to get all the variations of sounds like you do. Any info you wouldn't mind sharing would be so very much appreciated. Thank you.

  • hello brohoop.

Believe or not, this is the Blueline Bigboy! In my opinion, it's the best one out there! The sound system, the details, and everything are top notch! As for DCC system, I use the Digitrax Superchief set.

As for pitch modification, I'm not sure exactly if/how you can do it on the PCM model. try checking the manual on CV values. If that doesn't help, go to the BLI forums. I'm sure they can help.

Thanks for watching my video, glad you liked it!

  • these cost like $2000

  • Nice vid cyborg! The demo was only ok, but the final piece was GREAT!! Check out my vid "model trains big boy 4015 & challengers"

  • What Happened to the Big Boy?

  • right now im DC

  • these things move as fast as 70mph in real life.

  • is your layout DC or DCC?

  • both - inner track is DCC, outer one is DC.

  • didn't they have two boilers and twenty wheels or something?

  • the bigboy still ran on one boiler, it was just two sets of drive wheels using the same steam source. Wiki it and you'll get a better description.

  • this my favorite under the almighty 3985

  • Imagine waiting for tht at a crossing.

  • If that thing were life-size, and can go that fast, it would pound the ground! It would probaly go80-90 mph!

  • The best pieces of railroad scale models are my HO scale JohnBull and N scale number 119 transcontinental Union Pacfic Locomotive.

  • WOW!!!

    Howmany did the BigBoy cost??

  • $250 even

  • Wow! most of the big boys I seen are over 600$

  • 3:10

  • Dang, I had to mix and make my own for Texas. and I still have some work to do with that one.

  • Ron don't tow locomotives like that. 3:10

    It will damage them.

  • yeah, I know. I only did it because I don't have enough cars to show it's true power.

I should put a sign up that says "dont try this at home"

  • Just, awesomeness. Bow down before Ron and Tony!!!

  • Why does no one bow down before Mark and Alex anymore? I had my big boy first, ron gets all the PR...

  • you can't beat the king. ;)

  • yes we can beat the king we need to rebell from the king yay

  • The king sucks. FIGHT THE POWER!

  • Snap, how could I have forgotten? Sorry 'bout that. Also to Mark and Alex!!!

  • Thanks!

  • Wow!
