It's a shame this says 'and Band'...the legendary Mick Taylor is the other guitarist here. This is from the legendary Bob Dylan ablum 'Infidels', my favorite Bob Dylan album. The guitar work on this album is absolutely gorgeous. I love Knopfler and Taylor...their greatness comes through the instrument with much more subtlety than more in your face guitarists like Slash and SRV. All are great talents...I just prefer Knopfler's subtle style that slowly compels the listener to recognize greatness.
dylan play electric guitar, of course. Hes a complet musican and genius songwriter. Knopfler is an expert in this instrument and his sound are genuine.
Too bad you can't hear more of Mick Taylor (damn, he fattened up a bit after leaving the Stones!)-- he is one righteous slide guitarist. Really wish he'd recorded more after leaving Richards and Jagger...
Knopfler's skill with the guitar came so fast and so easily that I think it confuses some people as to his fame. Dire Straits' first hit, Sultans of Swing plus the Money for Nothing (the 1st vid ever on MTV in the UK) put his band into stardom in 1977-8 just one year into playing together. The greats like Dylan & Clapton were drawn to see him play and befriended him early on. He really moved with lightning speed to the top, rightfully so, I'd say!
mark knopfler and the organ player :Dire Straits, steel finger guitar : mick taylor (Rolling Stones in seventies), and then of course the rhythm sextion of Bob Marley and wailers : Robbie Shakespeare and Sly Dunbar
Wow!This song rings true in my mind about the sorry state of our world and how we try to kill nature-the worst crime of all time and of coarse ourselves as well.Innocents lost at a terrible cost.
yes, the keyboard player is Alan Clark. He and Marky played in 'Infidels' album. Mark and other Dire Straits members also played in Slow Train Coming album.
does anyone know the name of the blond man whos playing keyboard? hes wearing a yellow like coat and olive shirt....i thought he was knopfler but thats the guitarist with the red electric guitar....im am pretty sure that keyboard player im talking about was the keyboard player at a concert i went to on august 27th this year!!!
