BoggiD101 is one charming racist! No One 'Owns' Beethoven except Beethoven. The verdict is still out on the race card. And so what? It's not like he was dripping with some other cultural sensibility - then skin tone is interesting. Pushkin - great Russian writer and mulatto. No remnant of his African-ness there either. If anyone said Beethoven could not have been both 'colored' and a genius, they're a fucking idiot, not worth a nanosecond. If proven mulatto, BoggiD101, he's not yours, either!
I'm more than convinced by the sound, tempo and all musicality of this performance. everything seems 'just right.' under control but at the edge of.... you can hear every element but it is just near a point of no return. Nice. Alive and present. Bravo, musicians.
@BoggiD101 Oooh, we all know Google, or anything you find in virtual print on teh internets is soooo reliable. Black people, parallel with the black power movements of the late 1960's-70's started the 'claim.' Their argument, which would be considered racist as all hell today - He musta been black, because he had such a strong sense of rhythm. Lol Lol LOL. Alexander Pushkin, great Russian writer - Mulatto, and documented.
@MuseDuCafe Apparently you haven't looked at the most contemporary pictures of Beethoven or physical descriptions given by his contemporaries. This ultra-white Beethoven you and everyone else conceives of is extremely romanticized and idealized. It's nowhere near the actual Beethoven people knew.
Face it, you have no "claim" on Beethoven, you racist piece of shit.
their is so much stupid floating around in the comments section that im beginning to believe it is a virus. amasing piece of music, even the stupid can appreciate the awesome :)
Extraordinary, both Mr.Norrington's performance & some of the online comments. I thought music was meant to soothe the savage beast, apparently not, in this case. Perhaps it's the freneticism?
@tcsn0wm4n so you tell everyone what they can and can't do. Never new that. I can't tell if your trying to be insulting or you just started slamming buttons and that came up.
@FritzieMaurelle HMMM... One might be a fake yuppie scum bag, dost thou thinketh me so?! HAVE AT THEE VERMIN! FOR THE SAKE OF THE FRENETIC THAT ONE USUALLY HEARS DOST THOU THINKETH ME?!?!?!?! >:D trolololol
@OneThirtyEightMK that is the most dumbest comment anybody could put in the whole world. Do you even now when Ludwig van Beethoven lived he was born on December 17 1770 and died March 26 1827 i am pretty sure that is around 90 to about 100 years between the two times.

i think this is a fantastic rendition! punchy and just right tempo. more magisterial and less frenetic this way.

I would not want to play this any faster, you need some clarity, and there is no point playing as fast as possible for the sake of it.

for me the tempo sounds very convincing. Everything sounds very reasoned, I like these heated sforzatos and harmony is also listened carefully
