I would add that squash is actually a bit simpler technically than tennis, especially because the most complex shot in the game, the serve, is not really involved in squash.
well if you are intelligent you can be GREAT and still have a big aount of money for you to spend and im not talking about money "earned" by working -.- neither by money made by squash + -.-
thats the problem with squash.. as much as I love this sport, there are too many lets involves.. apart from other racket sports like tennis, badminton, you can pretty much get away with some crucial points by lets
i take offence to people who take away the amount of time those pros put into the game. he tells me they use a diofferent ball, so thats why they are better? LOL...and im going to university so ill be fine don't worry about me.
The ball is white because it's an all glass court and the ball is not visible with a black ball. The reason it looks like raquetball is becuase they hit the ball really harder and crisper then you. There length is tight, there volleys apply extreme amounts of pressure, and the ball is constenly hit before it gets to the back wall.
Well it's not because I am nationally ranked junior and I have travelled with pro's and i've played on all glass courts in the us open and world juniors tyvm
420adrian is correct, I've also travelled for national junior tournements in Canada and have played on these portable courts. The ball is white simple because if a black ball was used, it would be really hard to see... I know because i tried one of my balls and it was really confusing. It's a normal double yellow dot, only white instead of black. "Similar to raquetball" Holy fuck dude you're a complete moron, don't even compare the far superior sport of squash to that.
If you're playing with a Dunlop double yellow dot ball, its the same ball that they're using. This is what squash looks like when good players play. Visit a local tournament and watch the top "A" players and you'll see what I mean. The ball isn't anymore bouncy, the players are just better and the ball gets hotter and livelier. And where are you playing that you've never seen top players but on Youtube? Out in the boonies are you?
Squash may be great, but it takes a spot behind tennis. The world knows Agassi, Sampras, Federer and Nadal way more than they know the Khans, Power or Nicol. I don't see squash courts at my immaculate state park. There are 14 tennis courts however. I want to play squash but there are so few courts to play on. My son is kick ass tennis player. He does not seem interested in squash.
It depends what you mean. Tennis is more popular. But squash is tougher in every way. Its more athletic, faster paced, higher pressure, quick reflexes, more accuracy, and it also has an important mental side to it. Squash is a better sport but for some reason people don't like watching it as much and so its not got much funding.
I completely agree with everything you said - right on it. By the way, many tennis players are intrigued with squash. Squash needs to address the need to play it outdoors and on public parks. I went to a women's pro tourney in Cincy. Just being outdoors and checking out the women made for a real good time. Squash needs to be played outdoors just like tennis. Also, more indoors courts would help as well.
your right but squash courts are very expensive to build, and sadly outdoor courts would probably be vandalised. There are outdoor courts in warm places such as Egypt but i dont see it happening here :/
Darkchris999, I've played pretty good competitive tennis and then competitive squash, and I agree that squash is indeed more "athletic" than tennis. However, I don't believe that reflexes are more important in squash... have you tried returning a 120mph serve? Or reacting fast enough to retrieve a passing shot? And in terms of accuracy and mental aspects, squash is in no way superior to tennis. Both sports necessitate extreme accuracy and mental strength.
I appreciate your comment. But why don't squash players earn as much as their tennis counterparts. The only reason I can come up with is that tennis is better for viewing on television. Squash has some definite advantages over tennis: don't have wasted time picking up balls, more strenuous exercise, and faster workout time. In my town (Louisville, KY USA), squash is not promoted; it is still a rich, preppy sport. It needs to be offered to the general public.
Squash Players earn less cos less people can watch a game at the same time and cos its not widely avdertised its stupid in that regard annoys me massivly, its werid how squash is still regarded that way around the world as a "preppy" sport i consider tennis to be far more "preppy"/upper class sport, squash>all sports imo
In my hometown, there are many, many tennis players. We have hundreds of tennis courts both privately and publicly. Yet there are only 7 singles squash courts and 1 doubles squash court. Interestingly, anyone who plays squash immediately loves the game. Tennis is not really an upper class game in my hometown. If one strictly plays on the free public courts, the game is fairly cheap. The bottom line for squash to grow is to build free outdoor squash courts.
serving in squash is easy. Drop shots not so much. Different games skill wise. Squash still has an immense amount of racquet skill

Abundant outdoor courts will never be realized as a "public" free "room" with no walls will more than likely be used for nefarious reasons also.
natyong 2 years ago
Squash vs Tennis can be boiled down to the fact it needs 4 walls to be played. It can never really be a spectator or live revenue driven sport.

what kind of ball are they using? Blue dot, yellow, or double yellow?
English2Elvish 5 years ago
a white double yellow if that helps

Oh... is that what all Champ games are played with? WTF?
In rally games me and my Buddy use a double dot, the game plays out VERY differently... this appears *simular* to raquat ball, do you think?

Your an idiot.

Dumb FAG... Squash does rule you bitch, about the only thing you said that made sense.
I am quite certain the ball used min my games is far less "bouncy" then the one used in the this video... so fuck off.
