CAETANO ASSASSINO Protest against the visit of Marcello Caetano to London - July 1973

Those were wonderful days. Caetano's regime had hyped up the 600th anniversary of the Anglo-Portuguese alliance and staked a lot of prestige on his visit to London that year. We totally wrecked every day of the visit, exposing the hollowness of his claims that there was wide support for his rule

The British demonstrators played a small but significant part in creating the conditions for his overthrow shortly after (the fighters of Frelimo, PAIGC & MPLA did far more but we played our part).
