The one mistake they're making is that they're not doing one bit of work in the states Kerry picked up. I live in New York and don't see one thing about Obama. No campaign ads, signs nothing! Its getting to the point where the republican nominee might take this election. In New York a few offices went to the republicans that are normally democratic. We need both congress and the president democrat. We need both of them to focus on more states than these "paths."

Messina is in fantasy land. AZ, OH, VA, NC are all out of reach for the BHO campaign. GOP candidate has a good chance of taking PA, NH and IA. The only way for Obama to win is...well, I really can't think of a credible scenario....
I don't see what progress Obama has made so far within his presidential term, I'm not saying anyone would have done better or worse, I just think it's time for someone and something new.
I like the "Expansion" path. Amongst other things, it shows that with enough votes in certain formerly "Republican" areas one can toss aside certain other states. One thing they might want to think about is whether they can hold Wisconsin, and if not where they can gain (Pennsylvania seems safe, New Hampshire is rogue and I can see North Carolina changing even if they can make DC carry Virginia).
Also, if Romney is the nominee (Which I think he is by default), I think using that classic line "Corporations are people too" slip up he had would be pretty damn effective in this great state of Ohio.
I was a canvasser for Working America throughout the whole campaign on issue 2, and I can tell you that you guys could really message on what you already have been lately "Middle Class" Populism. The majority of Ohioans support a tax increase on the rich, we just repealed issue 2 by 22%, and I guarantee people see the payroll tax fight as ridiculous coming from the republicans. Keep up that message, I think it's already catching on.
This video sends a terrible message, it says to voters that Obama wants to win the next election by strategizing ways to take advantage of the technicalities of the electoral college (which is a very necessary thing for any presidential candidate, no doubt, but shouldnt be advertised) rather than by speaking to voters through his actions during the remainder of his first term, thus solidifying the credibility of any promises he makes during his upcoming campaign for a potential second term.

5 of the 6 scenario's the campaign has mapped don't include winning Ohio. I know that it is possible, but it is highly unlikely. Ohio is totally up in the air this year. We overwhelmingly supported issue 3 (the attempted repeal of YOUR healthcare bill) , but overwhelmingly rejected issue 2; the collective bargaining law.
wait someone fill me in on how the american voting system works. you have to REGISTER voters? they cant just go into polling stations and show they are of age and citizens?
Davidgoessplat doesnt exist. There is no such thing as a republican that is open to Obama's re-election. His comment above is a transparent attempt to plant a narrative--a narrative that doesnt exist.
I disagree with some of this stuff. I live in FL and Obama will lose this state guaranteed! However, Obama can lose FL but still win but he has to win Ohio and Pennsylvania as well. I noticed in this guys chart they are really counting on Pennsylvania really bad. Hate to break it to them but Pennsylvania is a toss up leaning republican. I also saw in their expansion Path they have AZ in the blue column. Do these guys realize how pissed off AZ is with this whole immigration thing? AZ will go red!
Mat 11:23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
He killed Bin Laden. Also, I like the fact that he supports embryonic stem cell research, which, at least, no electable Republican candidate is for. We lost 8 years of science under Bush because a lot of Republicans think that life begins at an erection.
I don't want any nut case Rep in the white house but....to say my peace....if the President did more to fulfill his promise in a more complete fashion right now the whole map would be blue. Instead bc he did not provide universal health care, he did not fight the oil companies and bring us closer to green energy, the result... he needs a strategy to win. Mr.President I appreciate what you accomplished but I fear that its not enough. I hope you win and I hope you fulfill. Be more FDR less RR ;)
It's interesting and amazing that Obama (and any Democrat, really) can win with a map looking like that. So much red! But that has to do with how the population is distributed geographically, I know. We only need a few swing states to win - but so do the Republicans. Everyone put in your all! Obama 2012!
Another plea for money...why they don't they just stand on the street corner with a tin cup and a sign. Another 4 years-I can't take another 4 years....We need someone to lead...ANYBODY!
Thanks for sharing your plans with the opposition. Real smart. And the way you reach a billion dollars is by catering to wall street. Everyone knows this and both sides do it. Try and spin it how you want, but don't act surprised when you set the record.
Its funny how obama suddenly starts doing a few things he said when the re-election comes along. but throughout his presidency he has done shit in this country and does not deserve to be re-elected.
You can cross out the last path. Obama will lose Arizona by thirty points!!! He probably won't win Carolina or Florida either but your dreaming if you think he can come close to taking Arizona.
I do not affiliate myself with any particular party, but I have four questions mainly for people my age who are in their 20's and who are Democrats who will vote for Obama again. 1. Seriously? 2. Really? 3. Are you sure? 4. Are you willing to put your future into his hands?
The best plan for America would be to stay the course , Keep on building on the economic success we've had recently. Re-elect Obama and fix the problems in the house of reps. so they actually get things done. A disaster would be to stop mid-course and throw out what's working in order to re-draw a different plan. That would make no since what so ever. Plus, Obama got Ossama and that alone is a huge success.
@davidgoessplat This is evident in almost all bills that Obama has supported that have been turned down. They all have basically said "Whatever he supports, we don't support to make him look like the bad guy"
The problem is Americans need to understand government and realize that Congress, not Obama is at fault. And, in order to get things done, vote the same as what the President is (i.e. Democrat). Unless you don't want things to be done, then vote Republican.
@BarackObamadotcom - Hey Jim or Mr Obama can explain exactly how someone granted citizenship via "Collective Naturalization" is anything but a Naturalized Citizen? He can get my vote, and I don't need to see his birth certificate. I am more than happy to accept the Fraudulent one? I also suggest you and he get out while the getting is good. the punishment for treason is pretty. I'm sure you will hold my comment as you have on your other sites but I will submit them anyway! Thanks!
I'm from Norway so I won't have a final say in the elections, but Obama you have my support :)
Also, I don't see why the US start the campaigns over a year before it actually takes place. I realize that it is a big country and in order to get a nominee to truly represent the people one need to start early, but still, it is in my impression that a lot of the politics and issues are put aside during the campaign period, and that is not ideal I would say.
i'm not even into politics. i'm a 14 year old white girl who really doesn't care. i just watched this video cuz that old creepy dude said "bullshit" and it's funny as hell. bet he's saying it just for publicity though.
I remember when Bush ran for his repeat and all the Dems were crying that it wasn't fair. He had 65mill. Obama had 650 milllion plus. Elite rich, wealthy and overseas money on down to his pawns in the 'communities'. Americans, we get what we ask for. If you choose not to research a candidate for what they really stand for then you get the face and the smile and the b.s.
@Rich1598 Have you forgotten so soon, when der fuhrer was first elected, we had an all democratic government, led by pelosi and reid , they went on an unrestricted orgy of spending that put the country even further in the hole, all the while blaming the republicans for everything. America needs a strong, decisive leader, not an indecisive coward that can only blame others for his own failures. No, I don't watch fox and no I don't belong to the tea party.
Obama JACKED UP Al-qaeda, something nasty!got us out of the most useless insane war ever!Brought us back from the brink of the worst economic crisis since the great depression.Won the Nobel Peace Prize.BANNED TORTURE.Responds to hatred from left and right w/humor&patience.getsrid of DONT ask dont tell.Deepest taxcut break for ALL Americans this just an ittybitty part of his accomplishments,NO help whatsoever from the "NO" Republicans. 5 thousand characters ain't enough. World wide more respect.
I see what you did there. Wish the right wing would jump on your back for the Bullshit remark. Then they would have to play the video in the correct context, letting everyone know that the billion dollar campaign is, in fact bullshit.
Take it to them in Texas, too. Make it a referendum on Secession. Are Texans American enough to vote for the President or are they as secessionist as Perry says.
Having never personally met Barack Obama, I'm sure he's a "decent" person and on a personal lever, a nice enough guy. He however has to realize that his social views are far too progressive for the United States and he absolutely (along with other like-minded individuals) has to massively throttle back on entitlement spending before he bankrupts our country. Mr. President thank you for ridding the world of a scum bag like Bin Laden and for your continued efforts to taking down others like him!
If the Republican's can get their shit together and muster up at least one solid candidate, Obama's done. The current administration has failed in so many ways its pathetic: unemployment 8%, 5 trillion added to nation debt over last 3-4 years, failed to provide strong leadership to Congress, etc. 2012 is a year where voters need to look across party lines and elect someone who can provide REAL leadership, confidence, and change to this country. And Obama sure as hell isn't the person for the job
Axelrod is already ahead of the game....I say hands down Obama wins the "Kerry" states. I say as of right now Obama wins re-election meaning Obama wins in Iowa, North Carolina, Virginia, New Mexico...Florida/Ohio are wild card states Obama needs to win too. If Obama wins the South path NC VA FL Obama wins re-election. I'm saying Arizona could be the only state that Obama can turn into a blue state. I see Obama having a hard time in CO and OH. I say Obama will get between 301-375 Electoral votes.
With Corzine's missing billions I'm sure "he' has enought money to run again. America can't be that stupid to re-elect him or can it? You have seen the 'hope and change' he promise.. no jobs, trillions in debt, and the list goes on...What a joke this video is!
i use to listen to KFI radio n Los Angeles. They have a guy who is hardcore obama supporter. The day after obama got elected he came on the air and said he got an email from obama campaign asking for MONEY!!!!!!!!!! He said he was shocked!
Haha Jim LOL @ "We are excited at our opportunities and expect to do well next year" That exactly what our CEO told our company 2 months before they went bankrupt and fired the entire company of 600 people. Hope for change? You bet we do. Good idea, like you say, not to be assuming that you will be building on the old map of 2008. You should make some more contacts at MSNBC as you may be looking for a gig next year.
Great video. In the future I would recommend highlighting the states that are different in each map with a slightly different color, outline, or pattern -- e.g., in the South map show NC and VA with a white inner glow. Otherwise it's hard to visualize how to instantly spot the differences. Good luck!
Im a Republican, but I dont hate Democrats, I think they have some good ideas. I dont agree with other Republicans that say hes the worst president of all time or anything, but I dont see enough progress being made. Can someone try to explain to me what Obama has done that is so great that he deserves reelection?
@davidgoessplat He can't do anything because Republicans use (and by use I mean abuse - it's unprecedented) the filibuster to block anything and everything they don't agree with. If only we could actually try Democrats ideas for once... maybe we'd like them.
@davidgoessplat Because all Republicans have been doing is fighting against progress, or anything Obama does to try and make it like nothing has been done. Pretty much they would rather keep millions out of work just to get this man out of a job. It is a sick political game they play and then try to act like its Obama's fault. For example, Republicans raised the debt ceiling many many times under Bush, but for some reason they fought against it under Obama.
@davidgoessplat Turned corporate losses into soaring profits, ended the war in Iraq, got Osama bin Laden, passed universal health care, passed Wall-Street reform, passed a list of middle class tax cuts, rebuilding our crumbling and laughable infrastructure, and many many more.
@davidgoessplat Well if you're a Rep. he most certainly deserves your vote. He has extended the Bush Tax Cuts, deported more illegal immagrants than Bush and he has loosened gun laws. The real question is why does he deserve the Dem./liberal vote.
@davidgoessplat He got Osama, he got us out of Iraq, he extended unemployment benefits, put more money in our paychecks, insurance companies can't cancel you or not accept you because of pre-existing conditons. AND, the economy is getting better, all in spite of the GOP that is DOING NOTHING to cooperate. They would rather bring us all down just to make Obama look bad.
George Bush pretty much threw Obama the keys to a burned out wreck of a car. I'd say Obama has more than earned a new term.
@davidgoessplat Passed some healthcare reform, abolished don't ask don't tell, ended the war in Iraq... I think those were the three big ticket items on his running platform and he delivered on all three.
@davidgoessplat I'm not a Republican or a Democrat. I believe that America will not improve until we do away with this broken duopoly. That will not happen if money controls politics and election cycles. That will continue unless the American People stand up and tear it down.
Given the mess America was handed in October 2008 and the admitted strategy - by the GOP of resistance to affecting a positive outcome - it's a wonder we're even still afloat. I credit Obama for that above all.
@davidgoessplat Passed the first reformative healthcare plan that will now ensure over 36 million Americans who are uninsured Turned the economy around which was originally loosing 750 THOUSAND jobs a month, we are now gaining jobs for the last 20 consecutive months. Saved the auto industry with Chrysler and GM which are now rehiring workers. Repealed Don't Ask Don't Tell, passed the Wall Street Reform Act, got Osama Bin Laden, 22 Al-Qaeda leaders + Haqqadi leaders.
what does this have to do with politics? how bout you do something tangible...

We overwhelmingly supported issue 3 (the attempted repeal of YOUR healthcare bill) , but overwhelmingly rejected issue 2; the collective bargaining law.

Obama 2012!

Great video. davidgoessplat 2 months ago 68
@davidgoessplat He can't do anything because Republicans use (and by use I mean abuse - it's unprecedented) the filibuster to block anything and everything they don't agree with. If only we could actually try Democrats ideas for once... maybe we'd like them.
jasonwoody 2 months ago
@davidgoessplat Because all Republicans have been doing is fighting against progress, or anything Obama does to try and make it like nothing has been done. Pretty much they would rather keep millions out of work just to get this man out of a job. It is a sick political game they play and then try to act like its Obama's fault. For example, Republicans raised the debt ceiling many many times under Bush, but for some reason they fought against it under Obama.
