As a Leaf fan, I am so thankful that they drafted Clark. As a hockey fan, I can't help but wonder what kind of career he would have had if he'd been drafted by a team that was actually rebuilding The Leafs almost drafted Craig Simpson that year. That would have meant that Wendel would have spent his career scoring goals with and protecting Mario Lemieux. I have to guess that this probably would have made him a first-ballot hall-of-famer.
If you ever lived in Saskatchewan our Winters are real cold. Wendel is a Farm Boy from Saskatchewan. Doing farm chores in frezzing weather made Wendel Clark real tough.

Wendel was the man..even with all of his back problems he still got out there and could turn a game around by himself. He could fight, score, hit and did i mention fight. A lot of people forget he was a middleweight who fought all the heavyweights as well. God bless you #17. back in about 1991-92 I was a young boy looking for autographs around Maple Leaf Gardens., It was approx -40 outside windchill even more., I asked Wendel Clark to sign my hockey card. Wendel Clark stopped no hat no gloves and signed mine and about 10 other boys cards without so much as an appearance of being cold or annoyed. This was and is a true hero in my books, the effort and personal sacrifice he gave night after night is unreal. Thank you Mr. Wendel Clark THANK YOU for signing my card.

Clark was good, but where was the ass-kickin' Marty McSorley dished out to him during the 92-93 playoffs? Clark lost that one big time; and the Leafs lost to the Kings.
Long live Marty. He was and will always be the best. Only a few like him that could score & play the game besides fight. And screw Brashear.
Marty continues to do good for hockey; and he's loved in L.A. My hero.

Fluke call??? Far from it. That little frozen haired pipsqueak (Fraser) knew exactly what had happened....
He didn't have the guts to make the call. What's worse was that the Leafs were short-handed in OT and that would have evened things up... to add salt to the wound... 99, who should have been off, scored the winner!

@Jesuscatshockey McSorely could score? When you ride shotgun with Wayne Gretzky, passing a puck anywhere on the ice to him could result in you getting credited with a point. And if you look at McSorely's best years, my guess is, that's exactly what happened. MM, good tough guy, but a player like Wendel Clark he was not. Sure, the Kings won the Conference Final, but not clean and so there's doubt. And while Toronto didn't get to the Final, they failed, fighting with integrity and without favour.

Wendel was the man..even with all of his back problems he still got out there and could turn a game around by himself. He could fight, score, hit and did i mention fight. A lot of people forget he was a middleweight who fought all the heavyweights as well. God bless you #17. The leafs could use a guy or two like you now to bring some heart and set an example to the young guys on this team who seem to have lost their way

I'm not a Leaf fan, but Wendel Clark's picture should be in the dictionary next to the entry "Hockey Player."
He may not have won every fight, but anybody who dropped the gloves with Clark knew they'd been in a fight.

Great video illustrating why Clark meant as much as he did to Toronto. This man was the reason I became a hockey fan and a leafs fan back on the 90's as a teen living in southern california.

back in about 1991-92 I was a young boy looking for autographs around Maple Leaf Gardens., It was approx -40 outside windchill even more., I asked Wendel Clark to sign my hockey card. Wendel Clark stopped no hat no gloves and signed mine and about 10 other boys cards without so much as an appearance of being cold or annoyed. This was and is a true hero in my books, the effort and personal sacrifice he gave night after night is unreal. Thank you Mr. Wendel Clark THANK YOU for signing my card.
