I WONDER WHY this Famous Michael Jackson, throw with his silver has left and has right cannot write a small check there to this Elizabeth who is OBVIOUSLY ONE incontestable genius ' VOCAL ART? what what it can develop it? Answer SVP me!!!!
I was under the impression that Bavarian and Austrian Deutsch is closer to Hochdeutsch than northern dialects. In both of those, the "ch" in words like Ich is a very rough sound, sounding like the "kh" in Semitic languages (e.g., the "Ch" in Channukah)
@aseshet Sorry, no. The dialects spoken in the northern parts of Germany are closer to Hochdeutsch. THe German spoken in Hanover is considered to be the clearest form of the language we have. And no, the "ch" sound in "ich" is, like in all words with a light vowel (i and e) is light and sounds more like the hissing of a cat. Whereas the sound you mean is used with all other vowels. For example "doch", "Buch", "Dach".

She mispronounces her ich-lauts and ach-lauts consistently in this song. She says ish instead of ich with a hard glottal sound in the back of the throat. This is basic German diction and I'm extremely surprised to hear someone of her obvious skill and talent make such an amateur mistake.
if you were a true patron of the arts you would have already known that, and wouldn't have stuck your foot in your mouth and made such a fool of yourself on the web...genius
@frponkus No, she does not mispronounce the sounds. The only thing you hear as a Native Speaker (I am) is a slight British accent. Only once in beginning of the song which she beautifully performs, the ish-pronunciation is really there. All the other sounds are correct, except for "Perle", where the first syllable should be more in the direction of a Umlaut...
Such a gorgeous voice and a beautiful renditon! I sang this until I was tired of it, but now that I heard HER, she just renewed my interest in it; That's how good she is.
this video was such a big help to me seeing as im actually singing this song for my german diction class and its a rather difficult piece but watching this like a whole lot i finally almost have it! THANK YOU!
Why is it that videocam were not around during those times. Its lovely. I just wish Elizabeth's photo in 70s would be superimposed as background of this video.
So ein wundervolles KKunstleid einfach nur so runter zu singen ...:(
Als gelte es, die schnellste Einspielung zu produzieren.

The hard 'ich' has no place in Mozart. This is a beautiful, subtle performance of great artistry.

Mozart wrote this piece in german, so i guess i has a place. Or are you saying you know better than he does?

Good, but I have heard even better versions of it. She could work miracles with this divine song, yet she drags it in mediocrity...
