Any chance of you doing one of these same tutorials but for Mac users? I know very few people who actually record on PC these days (at least in Vancouver) and would kill for a tutorial on that. That being said I'm sure I could find plugins that would be close to this same idea, but coming from you might be more accurate to the tones in this video.
Thanks so much man. I applied these techniques to my own rig (with a real amp, pedals etc.) for recording and it sounds HUGE in the mix. With a few tweaks of my own needed of course... Anywho, cheers man I really appreciate this.
@Thrashman1990 i did this but how do i have to record this? i mean like unprocessed guitar sound etc. you know what i mean? otherwise you have awesome videos!
I enjoyed this video for its conedic quality. I'm new to the world of the "djent." I'm wondering if you might put a video together about getting a nice djenty tone for playing live. I'm currently using a Peavey Vypyr tube 120 and I'm getting an Agile 727 7 string soon. Thanks a bunch.
@DirtyMustache79 I could! The basics are the same though, but since "live" means LOUD, some tweaks might have to be done and this is more personal taste rather than a 'general rule of thumb' so to speak.
I will investigate into the possibilities of doing this further!
This tone is fucking beast. I love the way it sounds, its perfect. It uses more processing power than anything I've ever seen though. If you load up 4 tracks of this tone playing simultaneously your computer might blow up lol
good turtorial. But i think the tone needs more substance. I would activate 2 more channels in paulin, add some bottom + a compressor to make it tight
@AnimalRepellent You are right about the Poulin simulator, though I figured this was better left to the viewer as my computer suffered a crash some days prior and couldn't handle much more than that haha!
just so you know, these plugins don't work for mac. thank you for showing me this concept though. I'm sure it can be applied with different FX as well?
@Tromath I figured, since mac works with RTAS right? I'm sure there are Mac-friendly versions aswell and I will update the bundle if I find them, been too lazy that's all!
Yes, I would think so. This is just one way of doing it but the procedure is the same. Different amps will sound and react differently though so you have to use your ears.
@Thrashman1990 yeah man. see, the best tone I've ever got was actually recorded with my own amp and cab miced up. I'm trying to figure out the digital tone for recordings because i know it's easier to work with, but i just can't get it. lol
@Linqua2112 See, you use two gates, with a compressor before the first one and an overdrive after it, following another gate(compressor>gate>overdrive>gate)
You set the compressor and first gate so that the gate closes hard and fast with the compressor "teasing" it into opening, the overdrive adds tightness and midrange bite to your tone, and the gate after that one is set up in a similar fashion, but perhaps a little harder.
Can someone help me? Im using Cubase 5. I need help with everything. i have WinRAR. idk where to extract it because i could find the folder for the FX and I Extracted to where I thought it had the FX and they came up as errors
@ray625164 You have to open the .rar file with "winrar" and extract all of the files(except the folder that is named guitarhacks impulses) into the folder of cakewalk where your plugins go!
@Thrashman1990 'If you use PC, it is located in C:/ > Programs > REAPER > Plugins > FX'. I go to reaper and theres no plugins folder in there, im confused as ahaha sorry
@ArtificialFlavaFTB2 Sure thing, if GreenGates is a noise gate plugin! Check the tutorial for my settings. You can toy around on your own aswell to see what happens when you play.
@pdxfix503 I am still using the same line6 software as I did on the last tutorial, yes! You don't need a Line6 device at all for this though. Any type of sound card will work.
@Thrashman1990 That's the nicest sounding software but i don't want to spend out like £150 but then don't want to torrent it coz its never as good :/ lol
I got it all in there. Sounds pretty good. Real good, better than what I was doing.
Buti 'm not able to use the Toneport UX2 settings and all that, am I? I'm new to all of this, I had my setup on podfarm, and then I went and did this and at first it sounded like crap. Then I put the output as a drytone (but still was able to hear my podfarm effects like normal) just when it went into REAPER it was a clean tone until I hit all the effects (Which then gave it the sound you advertised.)
@zachkc1993 You can still use your toneport as an input for your guitar. Actually, you have to do this if you don't have another external sound card. You should not open gearbox or PODfarm at all, just open your Recording software and select your toneport as a recording input under preferences.
@Thrashman1990 I did it the way you said without opening podfarm and all that. It sound garbly and I couldn't hear a monitor, so I turned the track monitors on and it had latency .. lol :/ so did I do it wrong or something?
@zachkc1993 No, what you must have missed is to choose ASIO drivers in the preferences menu! The topmost slider menu. This is a must because the POD and other Line6 hardware uses ASIO.
@zachkc1993 Mess around with the asio drivers! Sometimes, changing sapler rate and using lower bit rates will greatly decrease latency! So, mess around with those and you will find a solution that removes most if not all of the latency for sure. I did - and I'm using an ancient computer!
@vannimal2 You have to move the .dll files from the bundle that I provided you with to the FX folder. If you use PC, it is located in C:/ > Programs > REAPER > Plugins > FX(This is where they should be moved to)
Then you will need to open reaper, make a new track, press the fx-button on that track and in the list choose the plugins that you need.

TwentyfourFrets 1 week ago in playlist Favorite videos
@TwentyfourFrets You load this as FX(effects) on a recording track in your DAW(Reaper, Logic, ProTools etc..)
I might do a recording tutorial later on, this might be helpful to tie the loose ends together from this one haha!

@TwentyfourFrets It will record itself as an unprocessed track - but as long as you have the effects enabled it will sound like it should.
