@simar604 No he couldn't. Overall the NBA had much better "lock down" defenders and none of them could shut down Jordan. Rodman was a lock down defender and he need 4 teammates to hold Mike under 40. lol
MJ had 59 and didn't even know it. Hobe was practically tweeting every one of his 81 points (even though the game was wrapped by the time he had 60): "I'm good too! Please tune in and watch me! David Stern thinks I'm better than MJ. #WhereAmazingHappens" Lmfao.
love the stat at 2:03 at approximately the same point in their careers the greatest scorers are all within a couple points of one another, except of course for chamberlain, ten points ahead of anyone else.
@djwc6 yeah chamberlian 10 points ahead of everyone else taking 30 plus shot attemtps per game at that point in his career. jordan = had the highest scoring average in nba history by his fourth year in the nba.... so your point was asswipe? chamberlian = bullshit scorer compared to jordan
@waff1eirontmacsplat i was just comparing apples to apples, after jordans fourth year he had a career scoring average of 32.7 shooting 50.6%,after chamberlains fourth year he had a career scoring average of 42.9 with fg% of 50.3 as great as michael was in his prime,no one could compare to wilt in his prime.
@djwc6 wilt in his prime = was a fuckin loser. jordan in his prime = won three championships and had seven scoring titles. you're right that's apple and oranges asswipe. ps please acknowledge the amount of shot attempts wilt took? you fuckin simpleton. that's the reason he scored so much. you and wilt = failure. jordan shits on wilt as a scorer.
@waff1eirontmacsplat Both wilt and jordan won seven straight scoring titles between the ages of 23 and 29 however wilts scoring average during his streak was 39.6 compared to jordans 33.2,jordan won his first championship in his seveth year in the league wilt won his first championship in his eighth year in the league.i think its obvious you have to shoot more to score more,no one has led the league in field goal attempts more than jordan however.
@djwc6 hey asswipe kareem abdul jabbar has more career attempts from the field than jordan so des karl malone wilt = averaged over 30 fuckin attempts for a season five different times during his career jordan = never averaged 30 attempts from the field in his fuckin life. jordan never even attempted 30 plus shot attempts for a season in his life.
@waff1eirontmacsplat well i hope someone who plays six more years than jordan has more field goal attempts but as far as wilt vs jordan,mj has attempted 24,537 fg versus 23497 fg for wilt (1040 more) and yet chamberlain has made 489 more so whos the ball hog and who's the bricklayer (comparitively speaking) and when i talk about leading the league i of course mean seasons leading in fga,so pick up a history book or if you prefer i can continue to school you son.
@djwc6 yeah chamberlian made more of his shots than jordan and, jordan still outscores his ass in the regular season lmfao. what's that tell you? asswipe. you know what it tells me? it tells me that jordan's two point field goals are worth more than chamberlain's two points field goals and, here is why.
@djwc6 • wilt= swept by the 38-41 syracuse nationals.....lmaoooo...how can u be SWEPT by a team with a losing record??....wilt WILTED under the pressure,as always....
wilt= good at 1-peating...won 67 title...owned by russell in 68...won 72 title...owned by reed in 73...
wilt was 0-2 vs the knicks in the finals with reed...in the 72 finals,no reed all series
are you aware that jerry west averaged 37.9 ppg in the 1969 finals as wilts teammates, and they lost?.....and they lost game 7 at home when west had 42 pts,13 rbs,12 assists....lmaoooo......u call that wilt having to win "single-handedly"
kobe has NEVER averaged 37.9 ppg and he has NEVER scored 42 pts or had a triple double in the finals.......not only did wilt get that production from a teammate, but he LOST THE DAMN SERIES.....lmaooooooo
@djwc6 • ...nate thurmond was a teammate of wilt at one time...he was also an opponent of wilt in the 1967 nba finals...in other words, nate thurmond played plenty against wilt chamberlain...
nate thurmond= "he's the toughest i've played against"...no he wasnt talking about wilt...he said that about DAVE COWENS!!...LMAOOO...did you know that in the 1st exhibition game of cowens entire career he had 33 pts 22 rbs vs wilt?....lmaoo..wilt= owned by russell...reed...and cowens...
still havent explained why wilt scored 45 pts in game 6 with no reed....yet 19.8 ppg the rest of the series...his injury was fine when he got to play a cupcake opponent...wilt couldnt even dominate a hobbled reed in game 7...reed had a torn leg muscle and only played in the 1st half..
@waff1eirontmacsplat love your selective reasoning, russell at 34 with no significant injuries in his career is on his last legs, yet chamberlain who has a significant knee injury which limits his range and lateral mobility at the age of 33 is suppose to carry his team, and he does scoring 45 to even the series at 3-3 ,and outscoring reed 21 to 4 in a lost cause in which the lakers are down 27 at the half
@djwc6 HOW did wilt lose the 69 finals with west averaging 37.9 ppg?...and losing to russell on literally his last legs in the nba....lmaoo....wilty exposed
• actually wilt was the worst ever in defeat.......thats why his scoring went from 30.1 ppg in the reg.season to 22.5 ppg in the playoffs......when the good teams were left, chamberlain wilted.....its what his career is all about.......reed tossed wilt around like a ragdoll....
@waff1eirontmacsplat let me give you yet another history lesson. wilt averaged 33 pts a game in the playoffs during his first six playoff seasons, until he "voluntarily" changed the way he played and then the person you critique so vehemetly for shooting so much raised his fg% to 58% and raised his assist avg to 9 yet took far fewer shots, all the while avg 30 rebs a game.the majority of his playoff games came after wilt changed his game(52 games vs 108 game)
@djwc6 ?....wilt= averaged 13.0 ppg in game 6 and 7.....both losses...a win in either game meant a championship ring....but wilt choked,as usual....keep up the excuses for your exposed hero
• why did wilt shoot .469% in the 1961 series vs the 38-41 syracuse nationals?....was red kerr too much to handle?....wilt couldnt even crack 50%?....wilt=a myth..
@waff1eirontmacsplat so your asking why chamberlain avg 46.9% over 3 games in his second season in the league, which is less than 1% different than jordans average over his six championships year playoffs(jordans playoff avg in those years was 47.8%) the reality was he was also trying to carry the rebounding load against red kerr, hall of famer dolph schayes and swede halbrooke, chamberlain aquitted himself quite nicely with a pra (points +rebs+ast=pra) of 62
@djwc6 • wilt wasnt injured in the 1970 playoffs....far from it....and he got his ass handed to him by willis reed.....and your 1970 excuses have nothing to do with wilt scoring 8 pts in game 6 of the 1969 finals with a chance to win it all, while don nelson scored 25 for the celtics...
1973....wilt vs cowens head to head...
wilt= 14.3 ppg 14.2 rpg vs cowens
cowens= 31.3 ppg 20.0 rpg in wilts face...celtics swept season series 4-0....lmaooo...wilt got destroyed by dave cowens...lmaoooo
• lmaooo...proof u have no credibilty......wilt didnt have an ankle injury in game 7.....it was a knee injury....lmaoooo....get your facts straight siltrider....and wilt asked to come in but the coach said they were doing better without him,WHICH WAS TRUE......
reed= 82 total pts in 150 minutes in the 73 finals
reed played 90 fewer minutes that series.....and still outscored weak-ass wilt....lmaooooo.....wilt would be a 1 time champ if reed had played in the 72 finals....wilt= exposed lolololol
@djwc6 • finish my last post....4,124 people were in attendance when wilt scored the 100 pts.....the game that was called out by richie guerin of the knicks.....here is a quote from guerin "the warriors used any means to get chamberlain the ball, this had nothing to do with basketball"...lmaoooo
how often do 3 players top 30 pts in a game?.....
knicks in that game= richie guerin 39 pts...cleveland buckner 33 pts....willie naulls 31 pts....lmaoooo.....that was how easy it was to score in that pathetic era
@waff1eirontmacsplat its funny you say how easy it was to score in the sixties, and yet none of the other great scorers of that era ever broke 2800 pts,not jerry west or elgin baylor not oscar robertson or bob petit or rick barry in fact in the entire history of the nba only 5 players have broken 2800 in a season those greats include kareem abdul jabbar (2822 in 71-72) bob mcadoo (2831 in 74-75) kobe bryant (2832 in 05-06) jordan twice (2868 in 87-88 and his fantastic 3041 in 86-87) wilt
@djwc6 why did wilt scored 8 pts in game 6 of the 1969 finals?......all lakers had to do was win the game and they were champs...and wilt scores 8?....lmaooo...
willis reed= dropped 37 pts in wilts eye in game 1 of the 1970 finals
willis reed= dropped 38 pts in wilts eye in game 3 of the 1970 finals
hahahhahaha....nice defense......once again.....why 8 points vs the celtics in that game 6?.....
1969 game 7= jerry west 42 pts,13 rbs 12 assists....and lost thanks to wilt the choker
@waff1eirontmacsplat yes imagine that villem van breda kolff favouring the aryians...er...white players, west and counts and marginalizing baylor, chamberlain and hairston.lol
@djwc6 wilt= behind CHARLES BARKLEY in fg%.....lmaoooo....
why is wilts fg% lower than shaqs?....dont blame the outside shots....who forced wilt to take those?.....maybe if he could dominate the inside,he wouldnt have to take fadeaways and weak shit like that....2 rings..nuff said
game 7 was reed's legendary game....return from injury....he only played one half, and wilt still only managed 21 pts in the winner-take-all game 7!...lmaooo
• wanna know how bad wilt choked in the 1969 finals?......
lakers were up 3-2 on the celtics going into game 6......if the lakers won game 6,they would be champs....
wilt= 8 pts in game 6!!!!....with the championship on the line!!!...lmaooooo....consider that this was the 2nd to last game russell ever played, and he had 9 pts!!!...
@djwc6 don nelson scored 25 in that game.....with the title on the line, wilt outscored by DON NELSON?.....vintage wilt chamberlain....true playoff choker
• wilt= renowned playoff choker....
1973 finals= wilt scored 5 pts in game 2......5 points!!....lmaoooo
game 3= 5 pts again!!!......thats correct!!!......back to back 5 point games in the nba finals!!!.....
in game 4 wilt scored 13 pts......MVP! MVP! MVP!....LMAOOOOO
how can u have back to back 5 point games in the nba finals?......not to mention 8 pts with a chance to win it all in 1969?....wilt= 30.1 ppg in reg.season.....22.5 ppg in playoffs= playoff choke artist
@waff1eirontmacsplat in the begining od 60,s chamberlain scored a lot of points because he was the taller player in nba. at the end of the 60,s and 70,s he wasnt as tall as the other players so he scored 14 or 15 points /game...today chamberlain could score 15 points / game but not more...
@waff1eirontmacsplat finish to my last post.....Wilt Chamberlain four times...2948 in 63-64...3033 in 60-61....3586 in 62-63 and his mind numbing, jaw dropping, super human, never to see the likes of in this life or the next 4029 in 61-62..thats FOUR THOUSAND TWENTY NINE...THATS 34% MORE THAN HIS CLOSEST COMPETITOR.and this brings us full circle to my original point,no one was a better scorer in their prime than wilt chamberlain.
@djwc6 it went from 103-94 celtics....to 108-106 celtics.....like i said, lakers went on a 12-5 run after wilt the choker went out.....maybe he shoulda got injured sooner to give the lakers a chance.....lmaoooooo
• i guess thats why wilt has a lower fg% than dwight howard....lmaoooo.....while shaq has shot over 55% every damn year....a guy like shaq is simply too smart to take outside shots....
@djwc6 wilt= shot .470% at kansas....lmaooo....no excuses,he didnt play bill russell in college...he played nobodies..
in wilts first 3 trips to the playoffs he failed to crack 50%...if only he had the skills that shaq has.....chamberlain truly WILTED in the playoffs, when the good teams were left
@waff1eirontmacsplat really? your asking why chamberlain, who was triple teamed in zone defenses "only" shoots 47%. most teams played one man in front one man in back and sent a third upon the entry pass.
@djwc6 wilt = a ball hog the likes the nba has never seen nor ever will see again. nevertheless jordan = the highest scoring average in nba history, nba playoff history and nba finals history. wilt = second behind jordan in regualr season scoring average and, wilt = not in the converstation in playoff scoring average nor finals scoring average...get bent silt rider. jordan = owns wilt in scoring the end
jordan = won six scoring titles and six championships in the same year.... this is a record. wilt = never won a championship and a scoring title in the same year therefore wilt's scoring = bullshit compared to jordan at prodcuing titles. wilt's scoring = produced loses for his team. you = failed
@waff1eirontmacsplat actually jordans points and fg% were his lowest in his championship years,so the reality was that jordan won when his team improved his coaching improved and the great teams of his prime years aged and faded away (detroit, los angeles, boston) where as wilts teams won when he became the most complete player the nba has ever seen, grabbing 30 rebs a game scoring 21 pts and getting 9 assists, but it wouldn't be fair to talk about those to a 1 trick pony like jordan.
@djwc6 jordan was superior at taking contact when fouled...then finishing off the shot at the rim then, subsequently going to the free throw line and converting the free throw. in other words many of jordan's two point field goals were actually worth three points.
it's called a three point play in basketball dumb fuck look it up. jordan = made more free throws than wilt as well. therefore jordan = a superior scorer to wilt. wilt = the worst free throw shooter in nba history. jordan = the greatest scorer in nba history with the highest per in nba history. wilt = failure as a scorer compared to jordan
@waff1eirontmacsplat yes wilt sucked at the free throw line and its a good thing for jordan otherwise we couldn't even have this debate, but since most of the players on high school teams can shoot 85% its not really a true measure of basketball greatness.
@92DreamTEAM4eva Perhaps his high definition TV with HDD recording wasn't working in 1988 or perhaps it wasn't even invented then. This is better than nothing though.
Your first line in the description "This is the single most important game of the modern basketball era" is absurd, incoherent and quite frankly takes any credibility away from the rest of your descirption/opinion or any other basketball video you post.
I mean this with no offense towards you or any disrespect towards the greatest scorer in the history of the game, Michael Jeffery Jordan.
@NBAfanforever1 All he saying is it set the stage for the Jordan Rules which shaped the way everyone defended MJ for the rest of his career. Out of this game and the game MJ had 61 on the pistons the year before created the 4 year bulls pistons rivalry during the late 80's and early 90's. Detroit's new D set the stage for the knicks to follow their blueprint. That being said Magic and Bird in the NCAA final was the most important game of the moden era.
jordan is the greatest period...he is the most efficient scorer we have ever seen. He makes scoring over 50 look so damn easy in an NBA game-just good open shots, notice how he rarley forces a horrible attempt or is not always flayling around to try an draw a foul....understand that he is being gaurded in this game by 2 hall of famers in Rodman and Isaiah Thomas, and Dumars is no slouch either....yet he made this look quite simple...incredible
This is why I laugh my ass off when people say "Detroit stopped MJ". Pfft...please. Detroit stopped the Bulls. NO ONE could stop MJ. The only thing that ever stopped MJ was father time.
I not doubting MJ being the G.O.A.T., but the Bulls only won by 2, and the Pistons went on to be the NBA Champions tha year, and the next....Im just saying
@Mraloneandsad I fixed that over a month ago, if you read directly under my original reply I corrected the date not even 5 seconds after I posted the fist reply. Plus we all are forgeting MJ became the GOAT....BECAME. Someone will more than likley take his place
I counted roughly 9 no-calls with the act of MJ shooting that would be calls today in today's watered-down league. I find he was left open a lot more than usual, so you could probably give him about double that many no-calls in a regular 1988 ball game. $ would average 55-60 a game today.
Michael Jordan is the most exciting player ever! Hell i'll still rock Bulls gear today just cuz he played for em'! He wanted to kill the Pistons dammit! He knew he had to go all out from the jump ball til the last second to beat em' to and that's what he did! Don't none of you sissies even put Lebron, Kobe, D Wade or any of these 2k ballers up there with MJ! Kobe tries and he has to immitate everything about MJ to even be half as good! We love you Kobe and god bless you cuz at least u try!
Today the term defense means the you stayed in front of the player. No longer will you see the hip checking or hand checking, or the use of the forearm. Any contact at all is a foul. And Jordan is to a certain extant responsable for it. These rules started to change towards the latter part of his career. When he got older, he sort of benefited from this cheap calls that are the norm today. Jordan revolutionized the basketball the way no other athlete could in their respective sport.
Here you can see a few times the defenders using their hands and forearms on Jordan whenever he starts driving. In today's game those would be fouls. Nowadays you see defenders giving players with the ball a lot of space to drive or shoot. No one can camp in the lane to stop penetrations either. This is why so many point guards today have such inflated numbers after turning pro. Back then we saw guys like Jordan, Wilkins, Malone, etc. dominating real zones and defenses.
@jaranarm you right, and after the implementation of the 3 second rule, no hands check, Steve Nash won the league MVP, thats an example of your point.
Did you know that the Bulls have never lost a Final series? And that every time in the History of the Bulls they went to the finals Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were there.....true champions
Imagine if Jordan or Kobe was coached by an Eric Spoelestra type or a Larry Brown type coach instead? How many titles would they have in their careers? Probably less than 5-6. Thumbs down if you agree...
@iamborghini1 yea they started winning championships when phil was head coach but dont get it twisted, phil needed jordan just as much as jordan needed phil. NO WAY the bulls are as successful with phil but without mj just like they were not that successful with mj but without phil. i personally think the 95-96, 96-97 and 97-98 bulls teams would've won championships with ANY coach. those three teams were just too good! I agree with u Phill is a legend but so is jordan.
Damm wuts with all the kobe hate? he aint claiming to be jordan or anything. he just doing his shit. shit have some respect for the nigguh and be lucky you seein the closest thing to mj possibly ever
@Bayzky you know not all kobe fans are arrogant and think hes the best to ever play the game. i LOVE kobe but i know who the greatest is. i actually liked this video. yea there are alot of kobe fans who are arrogant but not all of them are. kobe maybe the closest thing to mj....but how close is the closest? not that close. but kobe is the best today and that, i'll stand by and defend.
@tbird09100 kobe is not the best today he may win the championship last 2 season but he didn't win it ALONE.
like what larry bird and magic johnson said LEBRON is the best basketball player this TIME. and kobe isn't that close to mj. kobe is just another scorer like tmac and vince and arenas and so on. if there is a player who is closes to mj it's Ai because he can score and carry a team like what mj did. and so lebron is next to ai. after its all said and done. MJ is THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME
@tbird09100 I think D-wade is just as good or even better than Kobe. Flash really carried his team to a title. He is explosive and he has a good shooting %. His defense is also better than Kobe's. I like Kobe, it is the fans that start this crap. Kobe knows who the best is
@123bigr idk i still think kobe is the best today probably because i was born and raised in L.A but i cant be mad if people say that d wade or lebron is the best today because they both are amazing as well. so i think it really depends on who you are more a fan of.
@tbird09100 Kobe never had to face three Detroit Pistons camping out in the lane since there was no def. three seconds. Kobe also was never handchecked where a defender used a forearm for leverage to slow down a drive. The year Kobe scored 81 was the year FTs and fouls were inflated due to rules changes favoring perimeter players (The foul calls were toned down after 2005-2006 Lebron, Iverson and Kobe all set career highs in points and rebounds).
@illinifan512 you're preaching to the choir bro. i KNOW mj is the greatest of all time and no one else really compares to him. BUT all im saying is that u can make a pretty good case that kobe is the best TODAY. mj>>>>>>>kobe. only real fans know how much more diffucult is was for players to put up good numbers back in the 80s and 90s with the rules allowing the defense to basically bully the offense all over the court and i, my friend, am a real fan. mj would average 50 pts today no doubt!
COULD U IMAGINE IF MJ HAD OF BEEN A DECENT THREE POINT SHOOTER FROM THE START OF HIS CAREER TO FINISH....THERES NO TELLING HOW MANY CAREER POINTS HE WOULD HAVE....NOT TO MENTION HE ONLY PLAYED 18 GAMES HIS 2ND YEAR CUZ HE HAD A BROKEN FOOT...CRAZY SHIT
mj is simply the best because he was stronger and better team leader than kobe, better shooter and more loyal layer than lebron, more competitive and fearless than dwade, more clutch and a bigger heart than ray allen, the GOAT give it to him he is the best leader ever he desrve every award he won
@DNY21 And driving in those days weren't self evident. Think about the 3 in the key rule. Please, the defense nowadays compared to the defense back then is a fucking joke.
come on, this game is extact evidence that Michael would average like 45 ppg today!
No double teaming means 50+ for him, plus when you consider the lack of the defensive game today you'll understand what Im talking about.
Who would have guard young Jordan if had played today? Brandon Roy ? Artest? Kobe ?! Please! This names next to Michael's name make me laugh. Michael was unguardable then and would've been unguardable today.
@Jumpman1989 Yeah he was 40 years old with bad knees and taking the young boyz to school a few years back. In the 1980's he would have made Kobe, Roy and the rest of these guys quit. He would talk about Kobe so bad ON THE COURT while he drained jump shots on Kobe's ass - Kobe would go to the locker room crying. Jordan would blow past him with NO problem. Players today are too mentally weak to have played against Jordan in the 80's.
@Jumpman1989 Unguardable? really? come on dude. The Pistons OWNED Jordan for his first 7 years in the league. And lol? 45 ppg? are you serious? stop bashing on the new NBA. Kobe is one of the best of all time right up there with Jordan and Magic and Bird. Oh and I consider Magic the best all around player of all time.
@444614 check MJ's all time stats against the pistons. even if his TEAM was losing, MJ got whatever he wanted against detroit. detroit owned the bulls, but they couldnt stop MJ. do your research
@444614 Do you think Kobe will score more than 20 ppg in an NBA without hands checking, using forearms, the big guys canping in the paint (Centers and PF), where physicall contact was allowed. In today's game this kind of contact would be a fraglant foul. MJ at 40 score 40 and 50 points in today's NBA game. This are the facts that separate the players from the Magic, Bird and MJ era.
@444614 Jordan v. Detroit 1984-1991 Top Detroit Games Pre-title 61, 59, 49, 49, 47, 47, 46 games of 40 or more - 11 games of 30-39 - 17 games of 20-29 - 21 games of 16-19 - 3 games of 15 or fewer - none So he scored 30 or more 28 times and scored fewer than 20 3 times in 55 games. So much for being owned His season averages for that time were 29.7, 33.0, 40.3, 33.27, 29.6, 29.5 and 30.0 He had two triple-doubles and 31 9 assts and 8 rbs in game 7 on the road in 1990. C'mon guy be serious.
@444614 The Pistons owned the Bulls but not Jordan. Kobe is not in the discussion of the greatest player of all time. Kobe isn't even the greatest Laker of all time. Look dude - whenever a League is so weak that high schoolers could come in and start- your League is fucked up. Look at the scoring averages, shooting averages and tell me that this NBA is on par--if you believe that - you are fooling yourself.
@Jumpman1989 While it is possible that he might have averaged 45ppg today it is not very likely. It certainly would be a foolish thing to do if he aims to be successful beyond individual statistics. A player who hogs a ball like that makes his team worse. You don't keep a team involved it robs them of confidence and incentive to really engage. That's what Phil Jackson taught him and we know the outcome.
To be honest I think that Jordan would STILL average at LEAST 40-45pts, 7-8rebs, 7-8ass, 2-3blks, 2-3stls per game just playing the way he did. Let's not forget that Jordan led his team in assists, rebounds, steals and blocks in his ROOKIE season... He was a team player even then so I don't think it's too much of stretch to think that Jordan wouldn't have to ball hog to attain those sort of numbers. :)
@omnivorous65 I agree. Jordan was an efficient scorer who rarely took bad shots, but 45 ppg might have a negative effect on the team's offensive flow and defensive intensity.
@Jumpman1989...you're so on Jordan's jock, it's practically gay...listen, no one is disputing how great he was...but to make the bold claim that he would average 45 points in today's era, is completely moronic...you don't know basketball, cus if you did, you'd see that the average ppg is lower now than it was in the Jordan era...and that's because today's NBA athletes are longer, quicker and stronger than they were 20 years ago...bottom line, Defensive in today's game is better...
@conni70 Man, i think i have to agree with JUMPMAN89.Come on now CONNI70, think about it dude,no hand check rules, less defensive rules, meaning a team could be far more physical back then and get away with so much more. You know that's true, that's a fact not fiction. Mj in his prime would annihilate todays NBA.
MJ was and will always be the greatest basketball player of all-time!!
Man I was 3 yrs old when this game happened, mj was the reason I picked up a basketball when I was a kid..i'm now 25 yrs old and I still aint put it down!!
look you fucking youngsters if you are under the age of 25 right now you didnt get to see the great jordan insted you saw some lacker shit kid name kobe witch just copied all of jordans moves and look how in this game jordan was so focus on winning he didnt even know howmany points he scored that love for the game
Michael is the best ever. He had class, style and determination. ...And he is likeable unlike most NBA stars are now. That fool was rediculous! Hat's off, Michael!
Jordan is the reason Kobe, LeBron, Wade (thats just this generation) play the way they do. Forget stats and winning for a moment, which Jordan clearly dominates in, just look at the lasting impact he's had. Maybe, just maybe, Oscar Robinson could be credited with a similar impact in terms of how future players would play. Really though, that is just me trying to find one guy who might compare, nobody really does. Yes, Dr. J and David Thompson showed hops like never before (winner, no).
Ok..its pretty simple. Jordan won 6 titles (Kobe 5, LeBron 0) so he's got those to beat in that category. He won more accolades as an individual than any of those guys. Most consecutive scoring titles of all times and the highest PPG of all time. Oh ya, the highest NBA Finals PPG game of all time (aroudn 41). Even if he didn't clearly dominate those two statisically and in terms of winning, you'd have to give the edge to him b/c he reinvented the game.
FINAL MESSAGE TO THE LEBRON FANS - It seems like things have gotten out of hand, so I'll clear the air: First, you guys are the ones saying that LeBron is already better than Jordan. Has he rivaled Jordan's accomplishments through their first 7 seasons? Yes. But so what? He's still got a long way to go. And for you two guys that are saying that LeBron is playing against better talent... 20 of the 50 Greatest played in Jordan's era. Now stop leaving dumb fucking comments in my inbox.
PEOPLE, Please tell me... If both MJ & LBJ lost there athleticism, which would fair better? Who would average more, who would me more feared & a better player?
@IBloodSweatTears well have to wait and see dipshit...you seem to think you know the future...lemme ask you this and lemme question your delusional thinking...if lebron is more athletic than jordan in his prime? then shouldnt lebron have more athleticism left when hes older? fuckin retard....and jordan in his prime played to athleticism before he got old and had to change his game...what makes you think lebron isnt going to do the same thing...lebron has no weaknesses already
@kingjamessolja LOL! Alright let me down everything you just said... First off lebron has been playing in the nba since he was 18, MJ started at 21, 3 years in the nba is huge, If your ass watched the film you would no MJ's biggest threat to score was his mid-range, his athleticism was just a plus in his game, a big threat, he could have still averaged 25, Lebron... without his athleticism would be nothing... MJ chanied his game alot when he got old, a bit less going to the rim...
@IBloodSweatTears lebron without his athleticism would be nothing? no shit...and so would MJ...MJ would seriously be nothing...actually if lebron literally didnt have his athletisicm he would still be arguably the best passer in the game...if MJ didnt have his athletiscm how would he even be able to get his jumpers off without getting blockd cuz hed be too slow ?? dont be rediculous...coulda woulda shoulda...stop hating...lebron is a hybrid of all the great players, can score, pass, block etc.
@kingjamessolja Lebron has no weaknesses! LOLOLOLOL hahahaha! Yea your right, even thow he has an inconsistent jumper... lack of leadership... Lack of focus on the court... should I go on... Dancing on the sideline, talking with people that have nothing to do with the game... what the hell? Look Up Kobe Ignores Chris Rock... that true focus... thats leadership!
@IBloodSweatTears damn dude...you are a major geek ass loser...have you ever seen a vagina in real life? lol no lebron isnt an inconsistent jump shooter...not anymore inconsistent that kobe is 4-26 fg on numerous occasions...leadership? lol i wanna kick your throat you are so stupid...what is leadership dipshit? cuz if lebron who is the best and most unselfish leader in the game...tell me who is better dipshit?...you mean how lebron lead his team to beat the lakers twice last season?
Can anybody tell me the bulls crowd song when they chant hey and then clap more like a timeout song idk the song

@simar604 No he couldn't. Overall the NBA had much better "lock down" defenders and none of them could shut down Jordan. Rodman was a lock down defender and he need 4 teammates to hold Mike under 40. lol

love the stat at 2:03 at approximately the same point in their careers the greatest scorers are all within a couple points of one another, except of course for chamberlain, ten points ahead of anyone else.
djwc6 6 months ago
@djwc6 yeah chamberlian 10 points ahead of everyone else taking 30 plus shot attemtps per game at that point in his career. jordan = had the highest scoring average in nba history by his fourth year in the nba.... so your point was asswipe? chamberlian = bullshit scorer compared to jordan
waff1eirontmacsplat 5 months ago
@waff1eirontmacsplat i was just comparing apples to apples, after jordans fourth year he had a career scoring average of 32.7 shooting 50.6%,after chamberlains fourth year he had a career scoring average of 42.9 with fg% of 50.3 as great as michael was in his prime,no one could compare to wilt in his prime.
djwc6 5 months ago
@djwc6 wilt in his prime = was a fuckin loser. jordan in his prime = won three championships and had seven scoring titles. you're right that's apple and oranges asswipe. ps please acknowledge the amount of shot attempts wilt took? you fuckin simpleton. that's the reason he scored so much. you and wilt = failure. jordan shits on wilt as a scorer.
waff1eirontmacsplat 5 months ago
@waff1eirontmacsplat Both wilt and jordan won seven straight scoring titles between the ages of 23 and 29 however wilts scoring average during his streak was 39.6 compared to jordans 33.2,jordan won his first championship in his seveth year in the league wilt won his first championship in his eighth year in the league.i think its obvious you have to shoot more to score more,no one has led the league in field goal attempts more than jordan however.
djwc6 5 months ago
@djwc6 hey asswipe kareem abdul jabbar has more career attempts from the field than jordan so des karl malone wilt = averaged over 30 fuckin attempts for a season five different times during his career jordan = never averaged 30 attempts from the field in his fuckin life. jordan never even attempted 30 plus shot attempts for a season in his life.
waff1eirontmacsplat 5 months ago
@waff1eirontmacsplat well i hope someone who plays six more years than jordan has more field goal attempts but as far as wilt vs jordan,mj has attempted 24,537 fg versus 23497 fg for wilt (1040 more) and yet chamberlain has made 489 more so whos the ball hog and who's the bricklayer (comparitively speaking) and when i talk about leading the league i of course mean seasons leading in fga,so pick up a history book or if you prefer i can continue to school you son.
djwc6 5 months ago
@djwc6 yeah chamberlian made more of his shots than jordan and, jordan still outscores his ass in the regular season lmfao. what's that tell you? asswipe. you know what it tells me? it tells me that jordan's two point field goals are worth more than chamberlain's two points field goals and, here is why.
waff1eirontmacsplat 5 months ago
@djwc6 • wilt= swept by the 38-41 syracuse nationals.....lmaoooo...how can u be SWEPT by a team with a losing record??....wilt WILTED under the pressure,as always....

wilt was 0-2 vs the knicks in the finals with reed...in the 72 finals,no reed all series

waff1eirontmacsplat 5 months ago
are you aware that jerry west averaged 37.9 ppg in the 1969 finals as wilts teammates, and they lost?.....and they lost game 7 at home when west had 42 pts,13 rbs,12 assists....lmaoooo......u call that wilt having to win "single-handedly"
kobe has NEVER averaged 37.9 ppg and he has NEVER scored 42 pts or had a triple double in the finals.......not only did wilt get that production from a teammate, but he LOST THE DAMN SERIES.....lmaooooooo
waff1eirontmacsplat 5 months ago
@djwc6 • ...nate thurmond was a teammate of wilt at one time...he was also an opponent of wilt in the 1967 nba finals...in other words, nate thurmond played plenty against wilt chamberlain...

waff1eirontmacsplat 5 months ago
still havent explained why wilt scored 45 pts in game 6 with no reed....yet 19.8 ppg the rest of the series...his injury was fine when he got to play a cupcake opponent...wilt couldnt even dominate a hobbled reed in game 7...reed had a torn leg muscle and only played in the 1st half..
cowens= 31.3 ppg vs wilt in 1973...lmaoo.
waff1eirontmacsplat 5 months ago
@waff1eirontmacsplat love your selective reasoning, russell at 34 with no significant injuries in his career is on his last legs, yet chamberlain who has a significant knee injury which limits his range and lateral mobility at the age of 33 is suppose to carry his team, and he does scoring 45 to even the series at 3-3 ,and outscoring reed 21 to 4 in a lost cause in which the lakers are down 27 at the half
djwc6 5 months ago
@djwc6 HOW did wilt lose the 69 finals with west averaging 37.9 ppg?...and losing to russell on literally his last legs in the nba....lmaoo....wilty exposed
• actually wilt was the worst ever in defeat.......thats why his scoring went from 30.1 ppg in the reg.season to 22.5 ppg in the playoffs......when the good teams were left, chamberlain wilted.....its what his career is all about.......reed tossed wilt around like a ragdoll....
and 1969 injuries
waff1eirontmacsplat 5 months ago
@waff1eirontmacsplat let me give you yet another history lesson. wilt averaged 33 pts a game in the playoffs during his first six playoff seasons, until he "voluntarily" changed the way he played and then the person you critique so vehemetly for shooting so much raised his fg% to 58% and raised his assist avg to 9 yet took far fewer shots, all the while avg 30 rebs a game.the majority of his playoff games came after wilt changed his game(52 games vs 108 game)
djwc6 5 months ago
@djwc6 ?....wilt= averaged 13.0 ppg in game 6 and 7.....both losses...a win in either game meant a championship ring....but wilt choked,as usual....keep up the excuses for your exposed hero
• why did wilt shoot .469% in the 1961 series vs the 38-41 syracuse nationals?....was red kerr too much to handle?....wilt couldnt even crack 50%?....wilt=a myth..
waff1eirontmacsplat 5 months ago
@waff1eirontmacsplat so your asking why chamberlain avg 46.9% over 3 games in his second season in the league, which is less than 1% different than jordans average over his six championships year playoffs(jordans playoff avg in those years was 47.8%) the reality was he was also trying to carry the rebounding load against red kerr, hall of famer dolph schayes and swede halbrooke, chamberlain aquitted himself quite nicely with a pra (points +rebs+ast=pra) of 62
djwc6 5 months ago
@djwc6 • wilt wasnt injured in the 1970 playoffs....far from it....and he got his ass handed to him by willis reed.....and your 1970 excuses have nothing to do with wilt scoring 8 pts in game 6 of the 1969 finals with a chance to win it all, while don nelson scored 25 for the celtics...
1973....wilt vs cowens head to head...
wilt= 14.3 ppg 14.2 rpg vs cowens

@waff1eirontmacsplat really? your asking why chamberlain, who was triple teamed in zone defenses "only" shoots 47%. most teams played one man in front one man in back and sent a third upon the entry pass.
djwc6 5 months ago
@djwc6 wilt = a ball hog the likes the nba has never seen nor ever will see again. nevertheless jordan = the highest scoring average in nba history, nba playoff history and nba finals history. wilt = second behind jordan in regualr season scoring average and, wilt = not in the converstation in playoff scoring average nor finals scoring average...get bent silt rider. jordan = owns wilt in scoring the end
waff1eirontmacsplat 5 months ago
jordan = won six scoring titles and six championships in the same year.... this is a record. wilt = never won a championship and a scoring title in the same year therefore wilt's scoring = bullshit compared to jordan at prodcuing titles. wilt's scoring = produced loses for his team. you = failed
waff1eirontmacsplat 5 months ago
@waff1eirontmacsplat actually jordans points and fg% were his lowest in his championship years,so the reality was that jordan won when his team improved his coaching improved and the great teams of his prime years aged and faded away (detroit, los angeles, boston) where as wilts teams won when he became the most complete player the nba has ever seen, grabbing 30 rebs a game scoring 21 pts and getting 9 assists, but it wouldn't be fair to talk about those to a 1 trick pony like jordan.
djwc6 5 months ago
@djwc6 jordan was superior at taking contact when fouled...then finishing off the shot at the rim then, subsequently going to the free throw line and converting the free throw. in other words many of jordan's two point field goals were actually worth three points.
waff1eirontmacsplat 5 months ago
it's called a three point play in basketball dumb fuck look it up. jordan = made more free throws than wilt as well. therefore jordan = a superior scorer to wilt. wilt = the worst free throw shooter in nba history. jordan = the greatest scorer in nba history with the highest per in nba history. wilt = failure as a scorer compared to jordan
waff1eirontmacsplat 5 months ago
@waff1eirontmacsplat yes wilt sucked at the free throw line and its a good thing for jordan otherwise we couldn't even have this debate, but since most of the players on high school teams can shoot 85% its not really a true measure of basketball greatness.

NBAfanforever1 7 months ago

Hunggy02 10 months ago
I counted roughly 9 no-calls with the act of MJ shooting that would be calls today in today's watered-down league. I find he was left open a lot more than usual, so you could probably give him about double that many no-calls in a regular 1988 ball game. $ would average 55-60 a game today.
americanaccents 11 months ago
Michael Jordan is the most exciting player ever! Hell i'll still rock Bulls gear today just cuz he played for em'! He wanted to kill the Pistons dammit! He knew he had to go all out from the jump ball til the last second to beat em' to and that's what he did! Don't none of you sissies even put Lebron, Kobe, D Wade or any of these 2k ballers up there with MJ! Kobe tries and he has to immitate everything about MJ to even be half as good! We love you Kobe and god bless you cuz at least u try!
DeadlyAllianceTV1 1 year ago
Today the term defense means the you stayed in front of the player. No longer will you see the hip checking or hand checking, or the use of the forearm. Any contact at all is a foul. And Jordan is to a certain extant responsable for it. These rules started to change towards the latter part of his career. When he got older, he sort of benefited from this cheap calls that are the norm today. Jordan revolutionized the basketball the way no other athlete could in their respective sport.
JohnnyUltra305 1 year ago
"know how many points you scored? .... 59, couldnt you get 60 for us?"
"a win thats all we wanted"

oldmanwithers1 1 year ago
Here you can see a few times the defenders using their hands and forearms on Jordan whenever he starts driving. In today's game those would be fouls. Nowadays you see defenders giving players with the ball a lot of space to drive or shoot. No one can camp in the lane to stop penetrations either. This is why so many point guards today have such inflated numbers after turning pro. Back then we saw guys like Jordan, Wilkins, Malone, etc. dominating real zones and defenses.

@jaranarm you right, and after the implementation of the 3 second rule, no hands check, Steve Nash won the league MVP, thats an example of your point.

iamborghini1 1 year ago
@iamborghini1 yea they started winning championships when phil was head coach but dont get it twisted, phil needed jordan just as much as jordan needed phil. NO WAY the bulls are as successful with phil but without mj just like they were not that successful with mj but without phil. i personally think the 95-96, 96-97 and 97-98 bulls teams would've won championships with ANY coach. those three teams were just too good! I agree with u Phill is a legend but so is jordan.

@Bayzky wtf u talkin about? im a kobe fan but i have the Greatest respect for jordan
Tales2Astonish 1 year ago
@Bayzky you know not all kobe fans are arrogant and think hes the best to ever play the game. i LOVE kobe but i know who the greatest is. i actually liked this video. yea there are alot of kobe fans who are arrogant but not all of them are. kobe maybe the closest thing to mj....but how close is the closest? not that close. but kobe is the best today and that, i'll stand by and defend.
tbird09100 1 year ago
@tbird09100 ok :)
Bayzky 1 year ago
@tbird09100 kobe is not the best today he may win the championship last 2 season but he didn't win it ALONE.
like what larry bird and magic johnson said LEBRON is the best basketball player this TIME. and kobe isn't that close to mj. kobe is just another scorer like tmac and vince and arenas and so on. if there is a player who is closes to mj it's Ai because he can score and carry a team like what mj did. and so lebron is next to ai. after its all said and done. MJ is THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME
sawakadin 1 year ago
@tbird09100 I think D-wade is just as good or even better than Kobe. Flash really carried his team to a title. He is explosive and he has a good shooting %. His defense is also better than Kobe's. I like Kobe, it is the fans that start this crap. Kobe knows who the best is
123bigr 1 year ago
@123bigr idk i still think kobe is the best today probably because i was born and raised in L.A but i cant be mad if people say that d wade or lebron is the best today because they both are amazing as well. so i think it really depends on who you are more a fan of.
tbird09100 1 year ago
@tbird09100 You make a valid point.
123bigr 1 year ago
@tbird09100 Kobe never had to face three Detroit Pistons camping out in the lane since there was no def. three seconds. Kobe also was never handchecked where a defender used a forearm for leverage to slow down a drive. The year Kobe scored 81 was the year FTs and fouls were inflated due to rules changes favoring perimeter players (The foul calls were toned down after 2005-2006 Lebron, Iverson and Kobe all set career highs in points and rebounds).
illinifan512 1 year ago
@illinifan512 you're preaching to the choir bro. i KNOW mj is the greatest of all time and no one else really compares to him. BUT all im saying is that u can make a pretty good case that kobe is the best TODAY. mj>>>>>>>kobe. only real fans know how much more diffucult is was for players to put up good numbers back in the 80s and 90s with the rules allowing the defense to basically bully the offense all over the court and i, my friend, am a real fan. mj would average 50 pts today no doubt!

There is no one that knows basketball that will say MJ isn't the greatest. It's just that simple.
lamareaton 1 year ago
mj is simply the best because he was stronger and better team leader than kobe, better shooter and more loyal layer than lebron, more competitive and fearless than dwade, more clutch and a bigger heart than ray allen, the GOAT give it to him he is the best leader ever he desrve every award he won

Jordan made 21 out of 27 shots and 14 of them were jumpers. This is prove that his great FG % wasn't on drives alone.

@DNY21 And driving in those days weren't self evident. Think about the 3 in the key rule. Please, the defense nowadays compared to the defense back then is a fucking joke.

dicktobrick 1 year ago 34
come on, this game is extact evidence that Michael would average like 45 ppg today!
Jumpman1989 1 year ago 67
@Jumpman1989 Yeah he was 40 years old with bad knees and taking the young boyz to school a few years back. In the 1980's he would have made Kobe, Roy and the rest of these guys quit. He would talk about Kobe so bad ON THE COURT while he drained jump shots on Kobe's ass - Kobe would go to the locker room crying. Jordan would blow past him with NO problem. Players today are too mentally weak to have played against Jordan in the 80's.
jimboedwardlee 1 year ago 2
@Jumpman1989 Perhaps the Spurs in their prime had a chance.
sirsquiggly 1 year ago
@Jumpman1989 Unguardable? really? come on dude. The Pistons OWNED Jordan for his first 7 years in the league. And lol? 45 ppg? are you serious? stop bashing on the new NBA. Kobe is one of the best of all time right up there with Jordan and Magic and Bird. Oh and I consider Magic the best all around player of all time.
444614 1 year ago
@444614 check MJ's all time stats against the pistons. even if his TEAM was losing, MJ got whatever he wanted against detroit. detroit owned the bulls, but they couldnt stop MJ. do your research
dmun5587red123 1 year ago
@444614 Do you think Kobe will score more than 20 ppg in an NBA without hands checking, using forearms, the big guys canping in the paint (Centers and PF), where physicall contact was allowed. In today's game this kind of contact would be a fraglant foul. MJ at 40 score 40 and 50 points in today's NBA game. This are the facts that separate the players from the Magic, Bird and MJ era.
jor01god 11 months ago
AwH22311 10 months ago 2
@444614 The Pistons owned the Bulls but not Jordan. Kobe is not in the discussion of the greatest player of all time. Kobe isn't even the greatest Laker of all time. Look dude - whenever a League is so weak that high schoolers could come in and start- your League is fucked up. Look at the scoring averages, shooting averages and tell me that this NBA is on par--if you believe that - you are fooling yourself.

@Jumpman1989 well 45 ppg is a little ridiculous lol but yea i totally agree with what you're saying
jifyum07 9 months ago
@Jumpman1989 While it is possible that he might have averaged 45ppg today it is not very likely. It certainly would be a foolish thing to do if he aims to be successful beyond individual statistics. A player who hogs a ball like that makes his team worse. You don't keep a team involved it robs them of confidence and incentive to really engage. That's what Phil Jackson taught him and we know the outcome.
omnivorous65 9 months ago
@omnivorous65
ChaosCat79 8 months ago
@omnivorous65 I agree. Jordan was an efficient scorer who rarely took bad shots, but 45 ppg might have a negative effect on the team's offensive flow and defensive intensity.
hoopfan71 7 months ago
@Jumpman1989...you're so on Jordan's jock, it's practically gay...listen, no one is disputing how great he was...but to make the bold claim that he would average 45 points in today's era, is completely moronic...you don't know basketball, cus if you did, you'd see that the average ppg is lower now than it was in the Jordan era...and that's because today's NBA athletes are longer, quicker and stronger than they were 20 years ago...bottom line, Defensive in today's game is better...
conni70 7 months ago
@conni70 Man, i think i have to agree with JUMPMAN89.Come on now CONNI70, think about it dude,no hand check rules, less defensive rules, meaning a team could be far more physical back then and get away with so much more. You know that's true, that's a fact not fiction. Mj in his prime would annihilate todays NBA.

Yes, Dr. J and David Thompson showed hops like never before (winner, no).
larrybird3323 1 year ago
Ok..its pretty simple. Jordan won 6 titles (Kobe 5, LeBron 0) so he's got those to beat in that category. He won more accolades as an individual than any of those guys. Most consecutive scoring titles of all times and the highest PPG of all time. Oh ya, the highest NBA Finals PPG game of all time (aroudn 41). Even if he didn't clearly dominate those two statisically and in terms of winning, you'd have to give the edge to him b/c he reinvented the game.
larrybird3323 1 year ago
@larrybird3323 Can you imagine? And they keep comparing those bozo's to him.. Nonsense!!

IBloodSweatTears 1 year ago
@IBloodSweatTears well have to wait and see dipshit...you seem to think you know the future...lemme ask you this and lemme question your delusional thinking...if lebron is more athletic than jordan in his prime? then shouldnt lebron have more athleticism left when hes older? fuckin retard....and jordan in his prime played to athleticism before he got old and had to change his game...what makes you think lebron isnt going to do the same thing...lebron has no weaknesses already
kingjamessolja 1 year ago
@kingjamessolja LOL! Alright let me down everything you just said... First off lebron has been playing in the nba since he was 18, MJ started at 21, 3 years in the nba is huge, If your ass watched the film you would no MJ's biggest threat to score was his mid-range, his athleticism was just a plus in his game, a big threat, he could have still averaged 25, Lebron... without his athleticism would be nothing... MJ chanied his game alot when he got old, a bit less going to the rim...
IBloodSweatTears 1 year ago
@IBloodSweatTears lebron without his athleticism would be nothing? no shit...and so would MJ...MJ would seriously be nothing...actually if lebron literally didnt have his athletisicm he would still be arguably the best passer in the game...if MJ didnt have his athletiscm how would he even be able to get his jumpers off without getting blockd cuz hed be too slow ?? dont be rediculous...coulda woulda shoulda...stop hating...lebron is a hybrid of all the great players, can score, pass, block etc.
kingjamessolja 1 year ago
@kingjamessolja Lebron has no weaknesses! LOLOLOLOL hahahaha! Yea your right, even thow he has an inconsistent jumper... lack of leadership... Lack of focus on the court... should I go on... Dancing on the sideline, talking with people that have nothing to do with the game... what the hell? Look Up Kobe Ignores Chris Rock... that true focus... thats leadership!
IBloodSweatTears 1 year ago
@IBloodSweatTears damn dude...you are a major geek ass loser...have you ever seen a vagina in real life? lol no lebron isnt an inconsistent jump shooter...not anymore inconsistent that kobe is 4-26 fg on numerous occasions...leadership? lol i wanna kick your throat you are so stupid...what is leadership dipshit? cuz if lebron who is the best and most unselfish leader in the game...tell me who is better dipshit?...you mean how lebron lead his team to beat the lakers twice last season?
