@nickelwindow53 Aveo could have been if not for the interference engine where if the T-belt breaks,or anything related to the T-belt fails taking the T-belt with it, the engine is ruined. and that the engine for it's size is not that powerful for a 1.6. In fact, the 1.6 in the 1993-97 Corolla was more powerful as well as had more torque. But all in all, the Aveo is really not that bad of a car.

I love my Aveo. I agree, the Yaris isn't as ince. I had my Aveo in the shop and they loaned me a Yaris while my car was getting work done on it. The Yaris was very cramped and it felt "cheap." My Aveo is a nice classy little car and has given me no problems.

Because the engine needs to rev higher to make torque it needs a transmission with closer ratio gears to keep the rpms at the level where that torque is made therefore not allowing the highest gear to keep the rpms as low. This makes the car lose speed when coasting much faster than the ford which can cruise at a much lower rpm therefore losing much less speed. Also the ford doesn;t need to open

The BMW lacks the advanced veriable camshaft timing and the 6 speed transmission with a really high overdrive gear to keep the rpms low. Its not about engine size, its about efficiency. BMW has a long way to go in that respect. Just look at the fuel economy of fords 5.0 vs bmws 4.0.

It's fun, cheap, great MPG, and it doesn't go fast. 97 hp won't get you far into the speeding zone. Plus there is going to be a Fiat diesel that gets 60 mpg! The Aveo (if you watched Top Gear) Is a dull hatchback which is almost impossible to do in a FWD hatchback. wouldn't you want some sort of fun and enjoyment?

Mini starts at 18k and that is what it is for the looks, the funky interior and the fun. The GTI is for pure practicality and fun, and the Honda civic R is just fun.

I have a lot of crap and the 5 looks pretty roomy inside. It is a tad funky looking in the front because of the ginormous grill, but, that's fine. I've always thought the Aveo was a cool econo-box. I rented one of these things last week and I hate everything about it. It has no power so getting on the interstate can be scary and trying to keep up with traffic just burns gas. I had a hard time trying to pass other cars on the back stretch. I am 6'1" so even with the seat all the way back my knees still tuched the dash. This car is terrible to drive in the rain it can't handle for shit. The brakes felt way too tuchy for my comfort. Overall this car is a waste of money and is unsafe to drive

I got new 2008 model sedan, 1.2 engine, 1 airbag, manual AC, front power windows, stereo with cd/mp3, ABS, for €7000 on an action. Only cheaper car ATM is Chevy Spark. It comes €200 cheaper than base trim of Dacia Sandero. Toyota Yaris starts at €10500 here, and Honda Jazz (Fit in US) at €16000, with comparable base trims. Aveo seems to offer me best value for money, so I'm buying it.

Its not that big. It can hold 4 adults.

I don't like that it does not has enough torque. Fully loaded it will not go anywhere fast.

The fuel efficiency ..... it can get as low as 6 liters/100 Km on highway but you have to drive efficient.

It is really good for bad roads....it will not fail you.

I have had mine for a few months now and it has 100k mile warranty or 2-3 year warranty(which ever comes first)

I have bottomed out in a few places but I havent had any problems. Gas mileage is great city, and I think it is even worse on the highway because it's just a 4 cylinder.

My past few highway trips have been 65 mph and the gas gauge doesn't even move for 30-60 minute drives on the highway.

Except the Aveo's mileage is complete crap for the size of the car. Mine's averaging 30-33 as a commuter car (at least when the damn thing isn't in the shop for warranty work), while my larger, more powerful Focus got 30-32 over the same route.

Aveos are junk. Like most people, I bought it because it's the cheapest thing available. All I expected of it was that it would run. It has failed to meet expectations so far.
