Someone is supposed to be guiding the belt-loader driver to and from the aircraft. Also, you should be wearing a face shield when pumping the lav, luggage should not be tossed onto anything, and the aircraft at the end should have had a dispatcher ready to salute the aircraft as soon as the push-back and other ramp agents were far enough away.
the driver of a belt or loader should have his eyes on the proximity of the aircraft door to his equipment...you don't need someone diverting attention with waving arms and hands. The equipement operator has the best view of what is happening. If he can't see, he doesn't know what he is doing.
Managements idea of "safety"
If he is having issues seeing because of bad visablity,( Rain/snow) then I am okay with a guideman.
for your very basic training...all these workers should be wearing gloves and ear defenders...loading the bulk hold baggage handles of bags should be facing the aircraft, and the other way for off loading. This is not Swissport- even they are better trained-
@ROTTIETHEDOG Nah this IS Swissport at the Sanford/Orlando International Airport. I know this because I work there. Well, used to work there before I got laid off last week. Gloves are given with the uniform but, they are optional. Ear plugs are only used when the engines are running. The airport is small so there really is no reason to keep them on all day. Overall, management here is pretty strict when it comes to safety. SFB is a small station but its been recognized a lot by the higher ups.

Where are the instructions for slitting open luggage to steal cameras, jewelry, ect? One of these days I am going to put only dirty clothes in my bag mixed with razor blades. I guess some of you jigs will get a hospital vacation.
@ricturtle if you read my comment correctly you'd i was pointing out that the speed within the safety diamond of an aircraft should be no more than the speed at which the average person walks. that a little more clear for ya?
@bikrtc it is crystal clear, I agree with you, but i put it to ya once you've damaged an aircraft you will drive aroun aircraft very carefully. I spent 15 years in the airline industry and lots of it doing breakdowns on aircraft equipment
where do bikes normally get positioned in big large bike bags in those luggage pallets. WIll they load the bike last as it is not load bearing in soft padded bike bag
i used to do this on the 737-200's, but now im a refueller, i gotta say it is a hard job physicaly but it does build up them muscles that the chicks like :P lol
