  • Wait, what's this thing about boots?? O_o I have heard most of these things before (mainly from people at the GIC that I attend).... but boots? Seriously?? That has to be a new low for this kind of prejudice.

  • INSPIRATIONAL.

  • D: You don't play PS3?! Blasphemy!! lol jp

  • <3

  • My favourite was "I take pride in being trans". Trans stories are so formulaic, like "I just want to be a normal boy/girl!" It's like being trans is degrading.

  • I'm sick of people saying that you shouldn't "want to be male" (for the record, we don't "want to be men", we ARE men) because there's nothing wrong with being a woman. These people obviously have no idea what it is like being trans. Of course there is nothing wrong with being a woman, but you can't help it if you simply are not one. Fighting the oppression of women is a worthy cause, but one shouldn't have to fight their gender identity because of it. You can be a man and a feminist - I am.

  • I think you deserve love and self-love, just the way you are, not as society or peers pressure you to be.

  • It sounds like there is enormous peer pressure to be "trans" nowadays, and to not be female :(

Is that what you really want, or is it about social/peer presssure?

If you lived alone on a desert island, or alone in the middle of the wilderness somewhere, would you have done this/be doing this?

  • Why do you need to be accepted as "trans" to begin with?

What is wrong with being female? What is wrong with accepting your biology?

You do not have to reject your biology to reject oppressive sex roles!

We can be female and reject patriarchal roles, which are designed for the purpose of oppressing women. Who wants to have anything to do with those roles?

Embracing the opposite sex's "role" is just worship of the roles!

and hatred of your own biology, your own beautiful natural body

  • Completely true. Every trans person is ns enough

  • I love your video!

  • Great video! The internalized Trans Phobia and judgement from inside the trans community is often more biting than that outside of it. Wonderful commentary! You just being you is the most beautiful thing you can push through the world being. :)

  • i love you man

  • "Boots".. Boots?! I've never heard that one and I'm glad.

Awesome video, might I add. I used to feel weird because I adore girl's clothes, and people didn't help my anxiety - "If you're a guy you wouldn't want to wear that".

  • loveit!!!! / a swedish human

  • Your handriting is.. GREATTT!

  • i just did a trans enough vid too :) yours is so much better!

  • @Sev394 you should make it a response video!

  • IMPRESSIVE, but I'm surprised you gave up puberty blockers and HRT. 21yo MtF, and I couldn't my pre-HRT hairiness. Hair! Hair everywhere! O.o

And I'm not trans enough, because I prioritize FFS and Feminization Laryngoplasty over SRS, lol. A vag would be nice... but idk about $18,000 nice? ><

  • Dude, Love this. Flat mate kept wondering what I was laughing at. It is a rather judgemental "community" we belong to isnt it!

  • By far one of my favourite trans related videos! Awesome job!

  • Amen to this brother. Damn I feel the same way.

  • Ryan, no one should tell you how you should shape or define your gender identity. I am not trans, so I can't tell you that I understand how you feel, but know that there are people who strongly support all trans folks, preop, post op or no op.

  • Beautiful!

  • Nice job... BE YOURSELF and be proud... there are many of us trans ppl who support you.

  • Ok, this isn't what I'm supposed to take from this, but I love your handwriting. It distracted me for a good thirty seconds.

Back on topic, it's a shame there's judgement in the trans community about being "trans enough"... that's like some guy walking up to them and saying they're not "male enough"

You're plenty trans, you're plenty male, and for every single person who says to the contrary, you've got an army of fans and supporters cheering loud enough to drown them out, if you just listen!

  • YOUR PERFECT JUST THE WAY YOU ARE :D

Be who you wanna be and FORGET people's opinions.

  • I did not peg you for a gamer,Ryan.

  • Amen!

  • I always say that real men are the ones who aren't sexists! Good job with this video Ryan! :)

  • omg this made me smile so much, I am trans and ahve been on hormones for 16 years. I love you so much right now. <3

  • I have a friend that is going to college for gender studies. We had a conversation about this and she made it her final project. She did the interview on me yesterday and we talked about this. I discussed with her that we have discrimination for being trans everywhere including within our own community. How people assume we have to be a certain way. She was very glad I said that because the other trans people she interviewed never mentioned it. If I could, I would like to share this with her...

  • yeah ! thanks R!

  • Yours is the message I'm needing right now. Thanks.

  • I remember having a hard time being trans because I felt I never fit the description. I don't care for long hair, rocking my hips back and forth, putting on average make up.... or anything that's really femme.

I'm Nikki, and I like gothic clothing. I don't like tuxedos or dresses. I don't want eyebrows, and I preffer being androgynous.

    I loved your video :)

  • I'm so proud of you! Everything you wrote is my life. We're lucky to be musicians - we can wear anything we want!!!! :0

  • <3 love this

  • lol every one is tras enough im bat shit crazy only want my exwife ant intarested in any one else like video games smoke drink and do construction work on cars ride motor cycles and guess waht im a girl

trans proude and her to stay

  • A lot of this fits me well, not everything (of course) but a lot and I often worry how others might see me as. Both trans and cis.

There is no "enough trans" if you are trans, then you are trans. Nothing more nothing less.

You are a cool and smart guy! Keep strong and show em' what you got!

  • No my dear you are the epitome of a Trans person...Someone that will always be seen as trans and treated as such. But take pride in who you are. That's all any of us has.

  • I think you are very attractive. Its not important what do you wear ;) I don't understand people who are mean to someone that is different then they are. Everybody should be who he is, and be accepted.

I'm from Poland and here anybody that's different will be not accepted (in the most cases) That's very sad in my opinion. I'm BI, and I even can't say that in public if I don't want to be judged :( My closest friends know that.. but my family no.

  • I know you were trying to help with this video.... But it felt kinda anti-binary transguys. Just saying

  • awesome

  • Wtf... Boots?

  • Very inspiring video, to be who you are!

  • Loved this video! I didn't want it to end... I feel the same. Some people look at me funny bc my daughter still calls me mama.

  • I'm not trans or lesbian but I really am impressed by this. I'm actually a pastor's daughter and I've always been taught to not "accept" people like you but I disagree. Everybody has feelings and deserve to be treated right. I'm sorry for judging. Although I never bullied anyone because of my perception of them, I still judged and I shouldn't do that. Thanks :) I really appreciate this video and admire you very much <3

  • Interesting perspective. I think a lot of the messages are not trans related but pertain to stereotypes about masculinity, particularly once guys have started T. There are a lot of ways to be trans and I think sometimes we forget that being trans might be the only thing we have in common with other FTM's. We all have unique personalities and values.

  • This is excellent!

  • hey im only 4' 11"!! that for sure isnt trans enough haha

  • I'm closet-to-most FTM trans. My name is Kris. Gender neutral. I like wearing skirts sometimes. Especially to school(I looks weird in uniform pants). I wear guy-liner, combat boots, and skinny jeans. Am I trans enough for most? No. Am I trans enough for me? Hell yeah.

  • you should'nt have to do anything you don't feel comfortable with. If people judge you, it's probably becasue they have issues of their own. Who cares about them, just be yourself and ppl will love you

  • @roryryan232 WELL SAID!

  • PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE WATCHING!!! THANK YOU!!!

  • Being MtF, I can honestly say... I love this video, so damn much.

  • @duskwolf91 thank you! I would love to see you make a video explaining the opposite side of things! =]

  • Thank you!

  • ? If people call u by the wrong pronoun what do you do exacatlu

  • @Trickydrummer13 Correct them nicely.

  • "Public restrooms scare me"

    What one do you use?

  • @MissLizWolf Mens if there isn't a gender neutral bathroom available.

  • Why do trans people even have to identify as trans, why can't they just be male?

  • @uhmmidkkk they dont but they should have the option to do either or and not get crap for their choice.

  • @craigistheman101 TRUTH!

  • @uhmmidkkk IDK. I think there are a lot more who ID as male but they are less public about it. I am one of them. I was born with transsexualism but I do not associate with the "trans community" or consider myself trans. I view my transsexualism exclusively as a medical condition, a physical birth defect. I don't incorporate this into my identity whatsoever.

So, they don't "have to" do anything...

  • @SimplyTehDopest I relate to what you say here. I do not ID as FTM/trans unless it is for research about the community. They use that language to help categorize those who transition so the language is helpful for them to understand biological history.

  • Oh and I like the color purple, jewelry and even make up. Even when I'm not in a mood to crossdress as female. What does that say about me? -wicked grins-

  • I perfectly understand this... I'm trigender and have been trying to adjust to it. Apparently because I'm nearly five feet, I have a phobia towards short hair that makes it not possible, I am not on T or Hormone blockers, I have a feminine voice, I don't like correcting pronouns either and I am chatty I'm not masculine enough even in my LBGTQ space. But I am more on the masculine side... All that matters is that you know it and I know it but it is nice when people aren't idiot.

  • I hate the "you could be a lesbian" comment. Gender identity and sexual orientation are not the same at all!

  • blahhhhhhhhh, society. i hate it at times.

  • Right on, brother. I love love LOVE your vid. ~Namaste~

  • Why did you stop taking hormone blockers?

  • @calledcalvin If you click "see all" on the comments you can find the post that I already responded to that asked the same question. I would copy and paste but it reaches the character limit! sorry! just scroll down all the way. It's in the beginning of the comments.

  • i am not a trans but i like the way u stood up for it!

  • Awesome video Ryan. Not trans guy wants bottom surgery. And as for the gender binary thing, I agree 100%. Anyone can wear pink or purple. Anyone can wear make up or jewelry. It's not a boy / girl thing. Hope your message gets through to the haters. Stay strong bro! <3

  • you could be lesbian

  • @Snipehunter505 care to elaborate?

  • @Snipehunter505 I know who I am and I'm definitely not a lesbian.

  • wait are you trying to say "man enough" because a majpority of these most transmen cant say for themselves. like being 5 ft as oppose from 6 ft, how does this make you not trans enough when most trans guys are under 5'8? i feel like some of this was a mixture of not being trans enough and not being "manly" enough

  • @TransMansable the only one that is about being manly enough that trans people can't say for themselves is the height one but even so I am the shortest trans guy I know and I know a lot of trans guys. I hosted many trans meetups in NYC.

  • @xQUEERKIDx ohhhh i see, so its like a combination, that particular one. i was very confused hahaha i was like uhm half these dudes are like that same height lol but okay, i dont know why you arent considered trans enough because of these reasons, sounds like jelousy or self hate on their part

  • @TransMansable yeah most likely. I saw your video about how some lesbians treat trans guys. Someone literally just wrote on this video saying "you could be a lesbian" ... so stupid. It's like the message goes over their heads.

  • @xQUEERKIDx - Ryan, you're not the shortest. We haven't met in person, but I'm also 5'0 feet tall. And I'm trans. (: And I'm happy with my height.

  • @TheSilentDorky haha I'm the shortest of my friends! my ID says 5 feet but I'm reall 4"11 ;)

  • thank you for this! you are an inspiration to anyone who doesn't feel comfortable in their own skin :)

  • I can relate. Tho Im not trans, some people assume I'm trying to be, because Im 'not female enough'. But Im me and I like how I am. And I like how you are too. Stay true to yourself. You are amazing. Kia kaha.

  • @LilShnook You should definitely make a response video about that. I love loveto see.

  • @xQUEERKIDx or hear, rather.

  • Love it!

  • yes you are(: keep doing all the amazing things you do Ryan. you're an awesome guy!

  • Great video Ryan. It's a real eye opener that there is hate within the lgbt community

  • @didithejanetfan13 Yes, it was for me too. Please share this video so we can stop this hate.

  • @xQUEERKIDx Of course :)

  • Have you tried singing yet now that you had your top surgery? I'd imagine it feels better now that the binder isn't squeezing your chest.

  • @indiasaidwhat I didn't try yet because I am still wearing the post-operative vest until Wednesday plus I can't move my arms well enough to play my guitar and I like to sing with instrumentation. I guess I'll try in the next couple weeks, hopefully sooner! I will make a video! I'm sure the breathing is much, much better. It already feels better. =]

  • so inpirational. like i said Ryan your a great man.

  • Awesome video!!

  • Great vid! Yeah people think trans people are supposed to be a stereotype of their chosen gender I guess. I play xbox an I'm a girl and it's fine. But if I were MTF it would not.

  • Dont let other people put you down bro, its your life an its what you want to do with it not them! Keep your head up:)

    -Anthony

  • I liked this video alot

  • I need to change mu wordrobe I Gessing I wear boots pink purple jelery I just got an ex box I need to stop being afraid of public restrooms. And need to start a fight wen people call me she or my both name

  • GREAT MESSAGE!

I am not a trans - but I am male and I am gay. I wear jewelry and pink and purple, but I am not a girl wanna be. I just like that stuff. Oh I don't wear boots (not my style).

I am me. Ryan! You are you. To stop hate, we need to do just want your message says... stop the judgement. You are 1 of many T's I follow (youth and adults). I read and listen to their stories. I read and listen to yours. It's the only way I can learn how to be supportive of all my GLBTQ brothers & sisters.

  • @eddie94603 We need more people like you in the LGBTQQIA community. Thank you for being compassionate and understanding.

  • I had no idea that most of things were associated with being trans...

  • I LOVE THIS ryan! im going to twitter it :)

  • wonderful, Ryan!

  • i agree just beacuse you are FTM doesnt mean you have to be a gruff lumberjack

  • I love this. Some of these things get me down. So this is very meaningful. Glad you're doing well. 3

  • I love you <3

  • Wow, people are stupid. Yeah, guys-- especially musicians-- have never had long hair! :P Just curious, why did you stop hormone blockers? I thought that if you did you risk your chest growing back?

  • @InYourFaceNewYorker The hormone blockers made me sick and they weren't doing anything because my body already went through puberty so there was nothing for them to "block." My chest won't grow back. Dr. Brownstein said it's impossible. when you have top surgery with him 95% or more of the breast tissue is removed forever. The only way to get a cheast again after top surgery is either get man boobs by gaining weight or by taking massive amounts of estrogen.

  • @xQUEERKIDx Wow, that's interesting. Why, then, did you think before that the chest would grow back? I remember you saying it was a possibility.

  • You always hear allot of crap, if youre not stereotype.

Straight people, think im gay all over & Lesbians thinks im fake, cause im "femme" I guess. Or they consider me to be.

What people say to you doesnt mean anything, what matters is what YOU think. after they have said it.

  • OMG I love this... I know I already commented but this is really a fantastic video Ryan. It really made me feel good :)

  • Great video Sir Ryan :D i'm so glad to see you happy and healthy after your surgery. Peace brother.

  • @TruthJunkieMikael thank you!
