  • I got this as a solo in my school musical...wish me luck(:

  • I absolutely love Susan Egan's take on the character. She's stronger, not as sweet as Paige O'Hara's from the movie, which I prefer.

  • great

  • Annelise Van Der Pol was the best!!!!!

  • 7 not 8

  • Hold down 8

  • One my of my favorites from this musical!!

  • im doing this song for my final wish me luck!

  • My high school put on the Broadway version of Beauty and the Beast, and I saw it performed yesterday. Oh gosh, it was beautiful :) I loved it :)

  • Susan Egan= Powerhouse :)

  • This song is so aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwsssssssssssssssssssooooooooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • @sv15jun your right

  • I love this song. It's too bad it didn't make it on the soundtrack.

  • @JanellePVB6M5E9 the song was added to the show after the soundtrack was released

  • disney songs are amazing!

  • 1:37

nothing really happens I just need a replay button for the begining of the audition section. :)

  • Just to be completly sure, this is the correct key, right? It wasn't altered to stay on youtube right?

Because it would be really embarassing if I go to the audition and sing it in the wrong key. :P

  • they should have added this song in the 1991 movie

  • @TheTigerpride11 Agreed! And the song Home :] Both would've fit in beautifully to the movie, and I there's a pretty big lack of Belle solos in the movie.

  • My voice coach gave me this song for this semester! My dream is to one day be Belle so I was ecstatic when she suggested this!

  • @marielidejesus Same here! I think it's because it goes really low as well as really high.

  • ahhhhh this song is beautiful! my dream musical role is belle :)

  • @PeaceLoveSmile4 Same here <3

  • <3

  • hahahaha, i kept thinking where i've heard this voice before and when i saw the comments, it figures... MEGARA! =)

  • God I love Susan Egan! From Hercules, to Broadway's Beauty and the Beast, she never disappoints <3

  • @NakamuraNamkiko Quite so, quite so. She has an excellent voice. ;)

  • I always think Megara when I hear this... It's creepy.

  • @IzzyWildcat It's doesn't hurt that Susan Egan is the voice of Megara. :)

  • @IzzyWildcat well that's because this singer also did the voice of Megara haha

  • thank you so much for posting this video i have an audition for a disney show and i am using this song! :)

  • They should rerelease the broadway soundtrack with this as a bonus track at the end.

  • I love the song. I will be perofrming it for my vioce class performance. Susan Egan is just in my range. Funny thing about the song the disney princess I am most like is Belle. This song is me and I hope to use it as future auditions to community theatre.

  • This isn't in the Disney movie. It's from the Broadway version.

  • where does this come in the show???

  • @custommmade It's after she finds her father in the forest and she's telling him how being with the beast has changed her.

  • OMG!!!! i love this song!!! we just did BATB at my community theater and i just absolutely fell head over heels in love with this song!!! i kinda wish there could be a way for this song to be in the original movie! paige o'hara wouldve ROCKED it!!!!

  • Holy cow, reading these comments makes me sad that there are other people out there that love musical theatre as much as i do, and not a single one of them is someone in my school that i actually know.:(

  • This is our show choir ballad, and my best friend is a senior so he'll be leaving this year and I'm only a sophomore. and it makes me cry every time

    <3 you dylan

  • Dude this song was originally wrote for only Toni Braxton, they kept it in even when she was off the broadway cast

  • beautiful video and song:')

  • i'm learning this in singing lessons for my exam!

  • Such an inpirational song

  • 0:13 and 3:03 ...lazy animator, thats is not Belle!

  • @ytfjordan That is Belle. It's just the same picture...

  • I don't think Susan Egas voice suits Belle. Although she has a beautifull voice. Her voice is so diffrent. She's better in playing Meg. Cause Belle just needs another voice. But she sings beautifull!!

  • @LisavanHarmelen I agree with you! I can hardly stand it. She sounds like everything she says is sarcastic, but it's not really her fault. Her voice is better suited to characters like Meg, who has that kind of personality.

  • @LisavanHarmelen ya I do agree....although I think in her age it's a bit harder for Paige to do Belle in the exact same range

  • @wannabemeification I actually think Susan kinda sounds like Paige... you clearly hear the difference, but they both don't have the bell-like voices like Lea Salonga :) Both Susan and Paige sound way more mature than the other princesses, imo

  • @ethalinia lol Lea Selonga did Jasmine and Mulan....I didn't know she played Belle....I always though Paige did the best Belle....and you're correct in saying Susan has a few similarities but more than enough differences

  • Susan Egan is pretty good, but I still perfer the original Belle, Paige O'Hara!

  • @V0CA1 Susan is the original Belle

  • @wickedplayboyprince Susan is the original Broadway Belle. What I meant by original Belle was the Belle from the Film. Even so Susan wasn't the first to sing this song. It was added when Toni Braxton became Belle.

  • I get to sing this song on Saturday! I am so excited!

  • Comment removed

  • Where can i get hold of this track cause its not on the CD

  • kinda happy shes back w/ her father and now shes figured everything out. but sad cuz she misses the beast

  • do you have to mp3 of this song. I cannot find it for free anywhere and if I can get it for free, i would rather not pay for it. lol

  • @ErmaStrikesBack I can get hold of it for you. Just give me an email address and I'll send it to you.

  • I will be playing Maurice in a production of this show opening tonight!!! And let me say, I've never been able to sit through the girl playing Belle without shedding a few tears both in character and in reality! Beautiful song!

  • Oh God, this song reminds me too much of when I was in Beauty and the Beast. When I was rehearsing the song, I couldn't stop tearing up, just because the song is so beautiful. This brings back so many memories....

  • Micaela Arias....is the best best best at this song!! I love her soo much. We just finished this play and was Mrs. Potts in her cast. We did Disney's Version....RCT baby!! It was amazing. I love this song

  • @d1p this was only in the broadway production of beauty and the beast

  • Good song, but doesn't fit well with the other Beaut and Beast songs. There's no recuring themes of the rest of the songs. great song, wrong placement

  • loveit, also in dutch a great song. :D

  • wow, susan did an amazing job on this song! since i'm gonna be singing the song too for solo and ensemble, her performance gave me inspiration. (and an idea of how to sing it!)

  • If your talented then you DONT do american Idol

  • @LesMisCrazy Umm.... American Idol is good at finding talent, however they do focus on looks way too much.

  • @LesMisCrazy Very true! :)

  • @LesMisCrazy haha! You like Les Miserables too? :D I love Beauty and the Beast as well, but I am OBSESED with Les Mis... not a good thing I think.

  • @thebroadwayparisian omg i thought i was the only one!

  • @SarahMayhew haha. Certainly not! :D Do you hear the people sing??? Or in this case, There's been a change in me. Some kind of moving on. :D Les Mis...

  • @LesMisCrazy well, clay aiken is talented and he came from american idol. :P but for teh most part, u r right :P

  • @LesMisCrazy sorry but Adam Lambert and Kelly Clarkson are VERY talented.

  • @wannabemeification she is already famous! she was meg in hercules! she doesnt need to be discoverd

    just fyi

  • @live2act2 I'm not an idiot lol Meg was my fav herione and right after I posted that I thought damn lol

  • @wannabemeification meg is my fave heroine too! i love the song i wont say im in love!

  • @live2act2 lol listen to the song I can't believe my heart.....that was almost her song instead of I wont say I'm in love.....both are fantastic.... haha but I wont say I'm in love matches her personality more

  • I wish this was in the original.... I had a change of mind from my first comment on this.... although I still prefer Paige as Belle..... Sorry Susan (She's rocks also.....she is such a good voice for meg from hercules)

  • beautiful.

  • that so amazing

  • This truly is Toni Braxtons song... this is sweet with does not carry the same emotion

  • Such a pretty song :D Only thing is ...... i've foolishly chosen to do it for my music practical solo piece in my exam..... oh no is all i can say XD

  • what kind of exam?

  • how'd it go?

  • amazing song

  • I love this song. This should have been in the movie.

  • Another feel-good song is Once Upon A Broken Heart by the Beau Sisters.

  • thanks for the tip

  • Anyone else notice that the first "And I" part is exactly the same notes as the "And I" in "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston? And actually the two notes after "And I, I ne(-ver)" are the same as "And I will al(-ways)". Funny huh?

  • Your right! That's so cool.

  • I noticed that 2.

    It's cool

  • That's what I always think of when I hear that! :D

  • Is this on the original CD with Terrance Mann, and Burke Moses? The original broadway cast one, or was this released seperately?

  • Nope, Susan recorded it for a solo album

  • No it isn't, The song was added after Susan had left the cast. I imagine this is from one of her solo CDs.

  • I wish Paige sang this she is best as Belle although Susan is a georgous singer in her own right too but I'm just not feeling this

  • Is this a demo recording or was the song released anywhere?

  • This was on one of Susan's solo albums

  • Susan Egan is brilliant.

    X's

  • I love this song!!!!!!!!! The video is so good! Its one of my favorites from the broadway play!!!!!!!!

  • love your video *_* I have to sing the song at a konzert and now I practise it with your video ^^

  • Luv this song so much and i love ur video that goes wiv it :) :D

  • lovelovelovelovelove this song

  • I'm playing Belle in a production of my theatre company over the summer. We're not sure if we're going to do this song yet, but I sure hope we do! It's such a beautiful song that gives the steriotypical "disney princess" more depth. But Belle has more depth than most of them anyways so it just adds to that (:

  • Susan Egan also sings Megala from Herculese. lol.

  • Along with Angel from Lady and the Tramp II.

  • I love this song! Its one of my favs from the broadway play! I love it because it shows how belle has grown up and the words are so perfect! The video was perfect! I loved it!

  • Oh Gosh...The lyrics speak for themselves so! Thanks DeweyMaplez! ;-)

  • Charming Song...In which part of the story does it break through by making a comparison with the Movie Version? Maybe when Belle left the castle behind to come and vist her ill father? Thanks for replying...

  • You're right. She sings this to Maurice before being visited by Gaston and the angry mob.

  • I believe its after the beast lets her go and she accepts/says the beast isn't so bad and i think this is her realization that she might love him

  • My school did this musical...the girl who was Belle was amazing!! :) It's a beautiful song.

  • is this supposed to be sad or happy? sorry if this is a bad comment- i need to know for a competition im doing thxx ;p ♥

  • I always thought the song to be both happy and sad at the same time just like "Part of your World" from The Little Mermaid.

  • ok thanks :) bcuz im singing this for my singing recital, then at kiwanis in 2009 so i need to know what emotion to portray in my character- i sang part of your world last year at the same competition.. anyway thanks SO much! ur a life saver God bless :) (L)

  • if it helps, think about the story as a whole, the characters progression throughout the story and write down the lyrics, as if it was a monologue. :)

  • @becx1250 in our play its supposed to be happy thinking song like that push of hope song.

  • @becx1250 It's bittersweet. She's moving on from her childhood fantasies, but she knows she needs to, and she is okay with it. I think it's beautiful.

  • @becx1250 @becx1250 In case you don't know the story.. basically she agrees to stay in a castle forever with the beast as long as her father is set free, and then she and the beast end up falling in love, but before the beast tells her he loves her she finds out her dad is in trouble so the beast says she can go back to her father. So she goes home this is the song she sings once she's with her father..

So it should be kind of happy I guess?

Good luck with it if you're singing it. :)

  • @becx1250 Happy

  • @becx1250 The first half is sad-esque, reminiscing on the past and how it's lost, but the second half is happy because Belle is realizing that she was wrong about regretting what she's lost, and looking toward the future.

  • @becx1250 I know it's been 2 years since you posted this comment. At this point in the musical, Belle realizes that she's not the same person she was before meeting the Beast and that her feelings for him are changing. So it's kind of bittersweet looking back but she has no regrets for her life not turning out the way she wanted it to. I don't know if its any help or not.

  • We're doing this, and I am Maureen, because they had to make Maurice a girl.

  • Comment removed

  • Where is this song in the show? Because, I have the Broadway soundtrack, but this song isn't on it, which upsets me. Lol.

  • This song came later in 2000 (I think) when Toni Braxton was Belle, so that's why it's not in the orignal soundtrack.

  • my schools doing beauty and the beast as well... we have like 120 kids on stage, plus minglers and the band... 1 week till it's all over :'(

  • OMG!!! beauty and the beast (pretty much my favorite disney movie!!) and susan egan! XD [falls in love!]

  • oh, how I love this song....

  • This is one of my favourite songs... I'd really like Paige O'Hara to do a cover of it. But at the same time, it should be kept to just Susan Egan. :)

    *instantly saves song*

  • This is beautiful. It just occured to me that I have the same vocal range as Susan Egan! Yay! Hey, can anyone tell me what her range is called? Alto? Mezzo?

  • The song is ment for Mezzo Soprano. As for Susan Egan, I can't tell you.

  • Mezzo based on what I've heard on her CD.

  • :) that was great!

  • No offence but,

Belle looks kinda creepy at 0:16.

  • concerned and wise, I'd say

  • Susan Egan played Meg in Hercules. just found that out thought i would share that.

  • @Broadwayfan365 That's awesome! I had no idea, but I can totally hear it! Like Lea Solonga as Mulan and Jasmine.

  • @Broadwayfan365 And if you a Ghbili fan She was in Spirited Away and Porco Rosso. :)

  • I'm really not a fan of Susan Egan. I don't know why not.

  • I was in B&B musical!

It was SOOOO much fun. I had two lines, lol!
