  • This sounds like the Korg VC-10 which can be made to sound like a talk-box, but still sound like a vocoder!!

  • @VoiceEncoder This IS DEFINITELY THE KORG!!!

  • маловероятно что 303, тем более что 82 год

  • sounds like they used a tb 303. anyone agreed?

  • this song sounds so much better when its sped up a little more trust me when this jam hits the party all the homies start dancing to this jam

  • This last time I heard this was on a boombox in the winter of 83-84 on Hollywood and Highland.

That's when people would come from all over LA to watch breakdancers and pop lockers do their thing on Friday and Saturday Night.

Some Ese was blasting this cut, breaking it in to the crowd. I remember the cut, but I never knew who it was. Thanks for posting.

  • Last time I heard this was 84 and I was taken a dump - poped lock it and lucky to get out alive

  • I remember this well. These guys lived in Las Vegas. Hurt em bad was a DJ & Soul Connection was the baddest band in Vegas,I used 2 see them preform all the time, and this came out after Dance Floor by Zapp.

  • Zapp's Dance Floor was released in early summer of '82. I think you heard this later after that song was released.

  • oh no,,,lol very original.

    til this day?

nobody has put a yukalaly as funk guitar in their music,,thats what you hear,,,and the zapp part you hear is stolen,,but so are the words/idea grape vine,.lol

yall young catz got to really study music, and what spawned what.

parliament stole shit from church hymns/nursery rymes/and flipped it.

just like this song flipped zapps shit.

and the new generation cant do any music/ideas if it aint a flip,stolen/sampled.lol

    dont be silly.

  • egmjag -

if you knew anything about music you wouldnt made that statement...

    young buster learn your history....lol

sit listen when grown folks are talkin to you..

  • You assume too much. Not young anymore but sure wish I was sometimes. Zapp were my favorite, and I couldn't get enough of Dance Floor; I played that song for years. I like to be very specific with dates, so I put all my YouTube collections in chronological order. I clearly remember a dj on KDAY or KGFJ announcing the first release of Dance Floor. It was very early summer of '82. I was just out of my first year of high school and that summer was a very exciting time for me.

  • I managed to download this. This bumps off the chain on a load car stereo.

  • This is more Ray Parker-ish and not Roger/Zapp.Dance Floor.

  • BAD!

  • i hear dance floor by zapp, not very original

  • you're right :D

  • Damn!!!! this jam has all the elements of a true funk jam, snappy drumming with the clap, synth bass riff, funky ass gutiar, right amount of synth keys and a mother funkin vocoder. Mguadan you're the teacher out here for real and it's firme that you're from the OC because this is a spot where there is alot of love for the funk, keep it up.

  • Very cold and nasty old funk school Zapp style beat. Great upload.

  • had one for basketball too

  • I heard this song 25 years ago in an After hours Club with the Lyrics, and have been looking for it ever since.

  • my pops played gutair on that song ........ i got the full version and the origal performaces of the band singing that song !

  • Do you know when this was released? Was it summer of '82? Dance Floor was released in early summer of '82, so I'm guessing this was released about a month or more later.

But way before Dance Floor, I remember listening to a rap compilation with all of Roger's songs in the background. Only heard it once from a car but never again, not even on radio. That must have been early to mid '82.

  • muahahah big instrumental ! thanks to mguadan ! very good, i wnt more instrumental like that!
