  • This loader is working in the Hunter valley. Since some years this machine is equipped with pewag tire protection chains on the front axle. Massive tires: 60/80-57!!

  • bet the cost of diesel is hurting the companies pockets filling that beast!!!!

  • My dream job. Nothing but fun all day playing with the words biggest toys.

  • wanna see that awesome turbo...better the open engine.... great

  • Haha, that cab on the loader looks like the zit on a elephants arse. Too funny. I love lots of steel moving like this. Great video!

  • It seems that as the loaders get larger, the payload gets smaller in relation to the size of the machine. I know a Cat 988G can lift around 60,000 pounds, and I believe it only weighs about 130,000 pounds.

  • Very Nice Video ! I wish i could also make Videos of such Big Machines ! ;(

  • amazing :)

  • wow !!! great job.

  • it's so dusty there that i got it all over my keyboard

  • Excellent "car" for shopping!

  • So Le Tourner is still diesel electric?, I read the book on it's (His) history a few years ago and he was way ahead of his time!!,some of the early machines looed like they were out of the thunderbirds!!!..Great video!,thanks for sharing!

  • wow so epic!

  • Great machines these are. Got a chance to see one of these being built while i worked at the muswellbrook branch of LeTourneau.

  • I like the sound of the engine

  • is it bigger than a 994

  • This beast weights almost as much as an empty 747....respect...

  • Very impressive

  • bucket yardage?

  • Hi Marcus,

According to the most recent 1850's brochure:

    Bucket Capacity: 40 yd3 or 30.58 m3, high lift: 37 yd3 or 28.29 m3

Breakout Force: 276281 lb or 1228 kN, high lift: 280672 lb or 1248 kN

Operating Weight: 535000 lb or 242672 kg, high lift: 543000 lb or 246370 kg

  • Great video!!! It's funny that monster still has a backing up alarm... like "Oh, glad I heard that alarm because there was no way I could see it coming (...)"

  • i love the sound of the turbo!

  • @ 0:41: show off...

  • I could probably park my 580 SUPER M in it's bucket..... lol

  • I'm not sure but Le tourneau's used to be powered by diesel engines turning mechanical force into electral force and maybe they still are. This would explain how it's always at full rev's

  • @WorldofDiesel3302 what I heard form people that work there that still are. each wheel has it own electric motor.

  • Man I can See that the thing rockin side to side when the arms were in the air!

  • Thank you for the info. Its very interesting to me that most, if not all of the large loaders, run at full throttle now. I first saw this on a 992G many years ago. It does make sense. Thanks again.

  • I was curious how the operator and/or the machine keeps the tires from slipping while running at full throttle? Is there some sort of traction control built in to the wheel motors?

  • Hi Qlfarting,

This is what I've found in LT's product brochure:

''The loader is controlled and monitored by the LeTourneau Intergrated Network Control System (LINCS). This provides useful operational information such as maintenance, diagnostics, shovel weights and measure capacity, cycle times and other management information which includes the control of hydraulics, TRACTION CONTROL, engine revolutions and limiters through the interactions of the master control module (MCM)."

    Cheers mate!

  • @eh3500acII

also it is diesel electric, the motor only drives a generator which drives the motors. the motors are not fast enough to spin the tires. I work on these at my job

  • AMAZING VIDEO!!!

  • OH MY FUCKIN GOD! Where do i sign for the job aplication to ride such a beast? LOL

  • sounds like a big train

  • Whats its weight? see it stands 45 tons but that cant be right hehe

  • Hi, 45 tons is 1850's operating payload, weight is around 230 tons.

Have a look at LeTourneau's product section with brochures:

  • sorry for other silly question but it is true to this loader does not have steering wheel? is controlled only by joysticks?

  • No problems! There are two separate joysticks for steering and for hoist/bucket control. This is the page with LeTourneau's loaders and dozers pdf brochures:

  • i believe it has a 4 stroke turbo diesel engine?

  • Hi Kdlehel, it has 16-cylinder, 4-cycle turbo diesel engine made by Cummins.

  • Truck driver obviously is a little nervous working with a loader. The way that the loader had to pull a little forward shows this. The way I teach drivers is to back up to a loader is to come in a little closer to the loader and turn out when they are at the mid-point of the loader. When they are at a 45 degree angle, stop and back up. Working in a production, they want you to be a little faster than this driver was; the driver took way too long. Loader operator is great. I love the L-1850s.

  • Best video EWER in this category.. EWER...

  • great video! found it amazing how the machine balances the weight of the material when it raises the bucket waiting for the truck!
