  • Stop complaining about the drummer over and over. Just enjoy it.

  • Well... You can tell who the music nuts are in the coments. I, for one, think that you guys did very well. Considering that Spain is not an easy piece to play.

  • the drummer is playing it absolutely wrong. i've seen get away with playing snare on the & of 1 and 4 (despite the face that its a SAMBA) but not 2 and 4. horrible.

  • Those saxophones need Jesus

  • A flute solo would have sounded nice in this lol. But you guys still sounded good.

  • the groove that the drummer is playing is not a bad thing, the original light samba feel with the astonato is the better sound but when you take into consideration the size of this band the groove actually keeps this band from falling apart

  • Stay away from the written Flugelhorn solo.

  • southmoore highschool jazz is playing this. im one of the first trombonists on this piece.. MAN! you guys really sped up! it caught me off gaurd! we dont speed up that much but it sounds awesome! good job!

  • Too many saxs the were all were close to sounding the same so it was ok

  • no, there rnt too many saxes and no one in the whole wide world is ever in tune. its impossible. we all play differently but they all sound so frikking amazing together. they sound better than our highschool jazz band. nothings ever perfect but they came pretty damn close.

  • @SquidsAndSkittles about no-one in the world being in tune. i'm in my schools advanced chorus, and jazz band, and if we were out of tune - it wouldn't sound good. so yeah, self-disipline, and excercise is how you get better with tone/tuning.

  • @airplanerocker99 Well No one is ever perfectly in tune. Its not my opinion its a fact. You can be in tune on one note, change it, and be out of tune again. Its the nature of the horn. :P

  • It sounded nice, but the drummer was playing a rock style. Sorry but it didn't fit at all. Great trumpet solo at the begining very nice, but somewhere during the song the trumpet player was touging too much. he did: dot dot dot dot dot dot day dot dot day dit dot. It's suppose to be do do do do do do day do do day do dot. saxes could have been better.

  • wow, the saxes are tounging way too hard when they are playinging eighth note sixteenth rhythms....but great trumpet solo :D

  • shut up about the drummer holy crap how many times do you have to say that the drummer was loud or was playing the wrong style say something good for once SHUT UP!!!!!!!! it sound really good i was there it was awesome!!!!!!!!!! and no he didn't mess up either

  • Hmm..clearly you have no musical knowledge concerning Latin arrangements, or at least, what WAS supposed to be Latin.

  • the drummer was totally playing in the wrong style, you clearly know nothing about jazz music, im not saying it was his fault, he was probably instructed to play that way, it could have possibly been written to played as such (often times arrangers dont know anything about percussion). I don't particularly like this arrangement.

CANT WAIT FOR OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL TO TAKE THIS TO JAZZ FEST, FEB. 7!!!!

  • thats how the drum peice is written. it doesnt sound good but oh well. composers are stupid when it comes to percussion. lol. but i agree.

  • Our Middle School Jazz Band is playing this, we expect a 1 rating as well as a first place trophey (not trying to sound stuck up but it we took first as Jazz Fest every year for like 5 yrs). The arrangement we are playing is differant but the only major thing I heard was the slow part at the beginning is on Piano in our arranagement. Very nice job though, not an easy song to play.

  • that is like an illegal amount of horns lol

  • Hey Mr. Behrens at Boscobel, wow I never would have thought i might come across a video like this, jbehrwell newho seeya

  • Is that Jeff Behrens?! Holy crap. LOL. He directs at RCHS now, my high school. :D

  • Yeah, RC pwns

  • yeah we really miss him lol give him back jerks ;)

  • That drummer is ridiculously loud!

There's no way they should have gotten a 1st class rating.

  • The reason that the drummer seemed loud was because of the really shitty microphone that it had.

If you had been there, you would agree with me when I say that we were very balanced.

  • I'm sorry i wasn't gonna hate on this video, but the drummer messed up a beautiful song. The winds sound good though!

  • the drummer isnt playing the right style at ALL... pisses me of a little

  • 2 words... NO STACATO!!! ...LOL

and heh, yea i gt agree this is sooooo NOT ROCK its jazz fusion... so the drummer should prbly work on that!!!! :P... ehh other than that.. fairly nice blend, u should think of the band as a pyramid... Basses on bottom and Higher range instruments on top... balenced out..

  • Is it just me or are you coming in half a bar (measure) late in the middle of 15? (i.e. 1:02)? two bars after when the Jazz Samba comes in. I'm 99% certain your playing it wrong according to the chart/arrangement. The second bah bah bahhh (should start half way through the bar.)

  • you're right

  • God, I want to punch your drummer. He's messing up the song... Chick Corea isn't rock.

  • @Ghob1317 That is suprisingly how it is written

  • ok, lets get this straight. The Beg. is at 72 and Measure 12 is at 116. Come on kick it up!

  • way to not rush at all guys...

    not

  • someone tell the drummer this is fusion, not rock n roll.

theres this neat little thing called dynamics, its where you have the abillaty to play at different volumes and intensities. its really rad to get quiter and build tension. give it a try some time

  • 1.the beggining is missing the 1st trumpet part

    before the solo(flugel horn)

2.trumpet solo wassn't much just the written , he should have improvised that that's what i do but it did help me learn the written part

3.trumpet solo second time the solo wassn't herd, happened to me also lol

4.what pisses me off is that we did maybe a better job than u but yall got a 1 and we got a 2 it's cuz of 2 things 1. yall got way more ppl or cuz we black lol neway good job

  • I've played this arrangement with my high school jazz band. your trumpet section is missing some parts in the coda I think, and your range is poor. Melody is played too staccato in a several sections. Flugel solo isn't quite the correct rhythm as written on this arrangement. It's okay, but you need some more work on accuracy and style.

  • ya i like ur pyramid comment ....butt uhhh this is a jazz band not a concert band...jazz bands listen to the top of the band meaning lead trumpet....and concert band would be low instrumentation such as tuba

  • dude you can have tubas in a band,

if you listen to charles mingus recordings, they need tubas

like the piece opus 4 by him, we needed a tuba player

  • No... you're wrong, any good jazz band is made up of; Trumpets, Bass, Guitar, Saxx's, occasional flute or clarinet, and Trombones, tubas were definitely not meant for Jazz

  • and drums of course

  • three words.

    sousaphone.

    and new orleans

  • All i can say is that u all should listen to eachother in the band... think of playing with the sound of a Pyramid, basses louder at the bottom and the higher insterments softer...oh, and the melody isn't so stacato! lol sweet vid tho

  • total disaster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • play the piano solo? Ha! I'm not dumb, I'd rather you complain that there wasn't a piano solo then get compared to Chick Corea

    word

  • Im sorry, you must have a piece that's different from the original chick corea one.

    JAZZ RULES

  • JESUS CHRIST! fewer saxaphones please. and let the PIANO play the piano solo at the begining. And the chorus shouldn't be so sticato.

  • i would consider that a VALID critisism, but there was NO piano solo written for this piece. sorry

  • For one any GOOD pianist would be able to improv this by just listening to Chick Corea play this.

  • @BigdogMusic yeah there was... my band had one...

  • @BigdogMusic HAHAHA i know

  • Omg... This was terrible... I'm sorry. My band is playing this song and I thought they were terrible. But come on... I'm sorry, but this is bad

  • thanks to anyone that has positive comments! anyone else can go and die! err maybe go stare at themselves in the mirror? lolz

  • bad rhythm and a bad arrangement

  • mann i wanna play in this jazz band. i only got to play in marching band

  • whoa the drummer should play a different groove, this isnt rock

  • Being an alto player, I can say that the saxes need work, especially on the syncopated part ("1 a a 3 and a four a a one three e four e and one a two and a three and a four e a e and two a three four e and" I believe it is.... I'm not looking at the music), which sounded like a garbled mess. I couldn't get past that part because it sounded like crap. Also, on the beginning of the fast part ("1 and a two e and a and a four and a", I think), most of that should be slurred.

  • does the drummer even use suspended cybal sticks in the beggining? and he is playing to loud, a pretty good version of spain is from buchser middle school,we played it for the 8th grade promotion and i play the bass on the song,my friend used a camera so its split into 3 parts, listen to the drummer his name is J.T Gagarin

  • lol.....

  • sax's need to know how to tongue that properly. but pretty impressive

  • ur just jealous bitch

  • hey jerk our tenor sax had his tongue cut off when he lived in cuba.... don't judge us

  • lol, nice sam

  • w000t pwnage
